I've read that you can use water bottles or no weights in the beginning to get the moves down. I don't have weights either, I figure it's better to start with no weights than to not start at all.

In that case, I'll definitely join in!
  • Is this a video? Can I download it?

It's on youtube for free, just type in jillian michaels 30 day shred

Thanks for this - I'm already paying money for the gym and for a weight loss class and although I really want to try this I didn't want to buy it and not like it - I will be going on utube later and hopefully starting in June :-)

    I'm in!

I've been walking since I started MFP. I'm researching heavy lifting. I need to quit researching and start moving!

Are you scared of the gym? I ask because I am. I have no idea what I am doing in there and I even had a trainer for a little bit.

Sometimes you can catch it on demand if you have cable or they have those fitness channels. I have satellite so I just bought it off ebay for like $5!

I started from ground zero--having not worked out at all for several years (life and three sons and lots of other excuses). I am doing each level for 30 days, as I have a lot of work to do to get my body in shape! I did level 1 the first 30 without stopping at all! Today was my 11th day doing level 2, but I missed last Sunday, and yesterday. I've dropped 3 jean sizes in the past 45 days and my endurance is getting better all the time!
As for expletives I shout at Jillian, the list goes on and on...however, at least now I only yell at her when I'm working out. That first week, even sitting on the toilet made me wince and wish for a JM voodoo doll! :)
I think it's a great program though, really! And you know, she "wants you to fight for this" because you "don't get abs like this for free!"

Haha!! Your toilet comment cracked me up!! I felt the same the first time I did the video...but I was pushy with myself and did it twice a day for the first few day...idiot me!!

I will have to do it at 5 am on days I work as well.

I just completed day 1 level 1. I didn't have weights, but I still felt the burn. I wanted to quit 3 times, but I pushed through.

I'm totally in to start tomorrow! I love the fact that we have these awesome resources for free. So excited! I just joined MFP a cpl days ago and I can't believe how supportive everyone is. I've never joined a community like this but I've always thought the support would help me stay on track. Can't wait to look back in one month and see the progress! :D

I did it for a month in a half... then I got a little board... I think I got to the point where I wanted just a bit more, so I tried an hour long workout video (one of Bob's workouts) and it was too much for me... I started missing days, giving excuses not to do it.... SO back to the SHRED for me... Starting today. I did it every day, lost a billion inches (and a few lbs). You'll all love it, if you stick with it! My husband's going to do it with me this time. Good luck all!

When you feel comfortable, use water bottles! I am not sure how heavy they are but its something!

I'm doing 30 day shred at the moment. I've done 3 days so far but in 5 days because I went away for the weekend. Lots of people seem to do it in 30 days but I've read Jillians thinks you should have 1 or 2 rest days. I'm just going to do it every day I can and see when I get to 30 days!

Just did day 1 level 1! Apparently I have NO upper body strength whatsoever, I was definitely feelin it in the arms. haha. Also, I think I don't keep my core engaged/don't know how? Am I supposed to be, like, flexing the whole time, or just pulling inwards? I think I'm focusing on the rest of my body so much that I forget to pull it all in tight! haha. tmw :)

The dvd I ordered online didn't work on my dvd player but thankfully I was able to do the first one online through YouTube, it was great and effective. Really looking forward to hearing how everyone is going with it.

Good to hear that advice to have break days as I was planning to use in combination with gym and walking on my days off the shred
