If your dr said he wants you to be a healthy weight then he would of also mentioned that a 1 to 2lb per week loss is a healthy loss. Take each day as it comes, don't be too harsh on yourself and still have the odd treat now and then. Good luck on your road :-D

Sorry to tell you this but the only way to get approval/support or even a question answered on this site is if you follow the majority who aims to lost 1-2 pounds per week, exercise 4-5 days a week and stick to the allotted calories. If you are thinking outside the box and try a different path you will be crucified for it. I've found if I want a questioned answered that will not align with the majority I search for answer on this site instead of posting the question even then you probably won't find it because that poster would have been crucified as well, next time just try Google. Most of the people on this site are douchbags.

    Good luck with your weightless.

There are far too many people that don't understand how the box works to start with. Why try thinking outside of something you don't understand?

    Shame.

I'll stick with the people that understand the box, first... then offer their advice based on experience/knowledge. Call 'em *kitten* if you want, it doesn't make them any less knowledgeable or successful, but it'll surely push them away from giving helpful advice.

You say you're asking if anyone has done this and everyone KEEPS telling NO!!! 10lbs a month is not going to happen after the first couple months unless you are going to extreme measures like eating 1200 or less cal/day. Why are you asking for people opinions when you are obviously so intelligent that you already know how things work?? All of these responses from people that have been through and are going through the journey can't possibly know what is going to happen. Right?? Your pig headedness is going to be your downfall. Do what you want and stop asking for peoples opinions/advice if you aren't willing to believe you don't know what is possible.

DON'T YOU DARE COME BACK ON HERE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS WHEN YOU'VE STALLED AND AREN'T LOSING 4LBS A WEEK!!!!

Yes, in the beginning. That's typically true, if you stick to your program.

Congratulations on your success so far, and keep that drive and determination! What matters is you get there, and make healthy lifestyle changes for good. If you only lose 5 pounds a month, by this time next year you'll be almost there. Keep focused on the end goal and don't get yourself stuck in such high expectations. That's a recipe for disaster.

    Good luck!
Thanks everybody for your input. Even though everyone always says 1-2 lbs/week is healthy weight loss, I kinda disagree. People are different and everybody's body reacts different to diet and exercise. I've also read that the more weight you have to lose the quicker it comes off.

I just blogged about this topic - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/simplydelish2/view/i-need-to-lose-50-pounds-in-3-weeks-533634

You can't control the numbers on the scale. Four pounds a week is not realistic or healthy after the first few weeks.

Okay. You've come here to ask for help, people with vast amounts of experience have offered that experience to you, and you have declined to accept that advice, preferring to believe you know better. 'Nuff said.

I am willing to bet that if we were face to face none of you would have the balls to talk the way you are hiding behind a computer screen. I DIDN'T ASK FOR YOUR OPINIONS OR ADVICE. I ASKED HAS ANYBODY DONE IT. IF YOU HAVEN'T A SIMPLE NO WILL DO. DAMN.

...cause what you're asking for isn't gonna work for you.

That's what EVERYONE here preaches, but the simple fact is that you have to exist in a caloric deficit to lose weight. If the deficit is too large, you lose lean body mass (your body is gonna eat your muscle, and that's no fun), plus all sorts of other cool stuff happens.. hair falls out, etc.

So hey, since you're not wanting to really read what's been laid out for you, you just go right ahead do whatever you wanna do.. since that's apparently what you're gonna do anyway.

Good luck princess, you're gonna need it.

We'll see you in a few months.

    "Overview (why I'm posting this)
Over the course of about 7 months on here, I have seen many people succeed, I have also seen some drop off the map. I expect this is because some succumb to the demon that is temptation, and some to the devil that is disappointing. I wanted to give a few "heads up"s to both new comers and veterans to the site. Some may know already, some may not. But either way, if this helps anyone to set more realistic goals in their own head, I feel like it has done it's job.

Phase 1. The start of a brand new day! (or week, or month, or year)
Expectations are sky high, usually so is motivation and intentions. This is where most people lose the most weight. At the start it's not uncommon to see 4 to 8 lb losses per week. The reasons for this are mostly (sorry to disappoint) water weight. You drop excess water quickly, and you can have up to 5 lbs of water weight. The next biggest reason is the fat that is right next to the blood vessels, the stuff that you put on in the last month or three, it will melt like butter usually.

    Phase 2. Reality setting in.
At about week 3 to a month or so, people suddenly realize that they are no longer dropping 8, 6, or even 4 lbs a week. This is a crucial phase in your journey. Expect this, it is natural. You have shocked your body by changing both eating habits and exercise routine. Now it has had a little while to become used to the new lifestyle, it's going to compensate. Your body still doesn't believe it's permanent yet, so it will still try to store some fat, so now that it knows how to regulate it's new metabolic levels, it tries to store fat in earnest. It's not uncommon for people to hit a wall here, no loss for weeks. Expect this as well.

    Phase 3. The routine.
At about 2 months or so, your routine is pretty much set, your body is beginning to believe that you really want to STAY the way you are going now. You will start to see more consistent (but lower, usually 1 to 2 lbs a week) loss, also, you should start seeing some muscle tone (depending on how much you had to lose in the first place). If you stop to think, you should realize that you have improved dramatically in your exercise levels. If you do cardio, you should notice how much longer and harder you can work. This is important to realize as it is just as big of an indicator as weight loss. Also, by now you may notice that your clothes no longer fit right. This is also very important. The weight may not be falling off anymore, but you are becoming a smaller person. Weight is arbitrary, if you are building muscle (which your body is doing at a furious pace by now) you won't notice huge losses, but you will notice wholesale changes in the mirror!

    Phase 4. Really digging in.
This is where the second wall can happen. You're probably at between 3 and 4 months by now, and if you have gone this far, you feel like you have already succeeded. This is where many people stumble. they are tired of the routine, tired of eating different things from all their friends, limiting their alcohol intake. Basically the shine has worn off. this is when your really need to plant your feet. Maybe change up your exercise routine, make a concentrated effort to find different, but still nutritional food. Talk to people. And examine how far you have come. At this point, no matter how much external motivation you receive, it's all about believing in yourself!

    Phase 5. End game.
5 or 6 months in you are probably working on that "last 10 pounds". This can be discouraging for many as it is a slow burn. Remember, your body probably feels like it is where it needs to be, your brain might think you need to lose 10 more, but your body is quite proud of itself now, it feels like it has "Done enough" and it wants to stay RIGHT HERE. The body LIKES to have a little fat around just in case, especially for the ladies (sorry girls, it's just human physiology). If you feel like you still need to lose it, prepare yourself for some guerrila warfare against your body. Design an exercise regimen that is very dynamic, forget the "same thing every day". Make a plan that challenges you both physically and mentally. Make sure you give yourself a day off here and there to just veg. And by all means, remember, muscle burns fat at rest. So get some weight or resistance training involved.
The last 10 may take 3 to 6 months to lose. I know nobody wants to hear that, but it's true. And forget the idea of increasing your calorie deficit, healthy bodies need good nutrition, your body no longer has the fat reserves to handle the large deficits you could when you were 30 40 or 50 pounds overweight. Better to make it a 3 or 400 calorie deficit (NET, please count your exercise calories too!). It may take a bit longer, but your body will like you for it. Plus it feeds those new muscles and keeps them burning fat, keeps your skin healthy (elasticity is important when you want those places that were stretched out to "snap back") and keeps you from getting head aches and depressed.

    Conclusion:

This is what I have learned, not just from my journey, but from others as well on here. It saddens me sometimes to see people hit one of these stages and not recognize it for what it is, a part of the process. If we all can have realistic expectations, then we are more prone to win the fight and stay healthy in the long run. Note that some people will hit these stages harder then others, some may take longer, but for the most part, this is the rule that the exceptions will come from."

    Beautiful. **tear**

NO ONE talked down to you.
Everyone explained what will ACTUALLY happened

You clearly are deciding to ignore the MANY successful people in this thread that gave you advice because they didn't treat you like a special snowflake.

    Here's the thing:

It's going to take drastic measures to lose 15 lbs in a month. No one on here is on Biggest Loser.

Not saying it can't happen, but if your plan is to lose 15 lbs in a month then you need to make sure you have a plan afterward so that you don't gain it all back.

The most sure-fire way is to slowly make changes in your food intake as well as getting a good amount of exercise in. It's not about who's the same and who's different. People lose a s***-ton of weight and gain it right back all the time. Just make sure you study up on nutrition and get the exercise in.

I lost ten pounds this month. It was pretty easy. I eat at or under 1200 calories. I exercise about 1000 calories a day (that is total including housework, daily expendature, and exercise). I've never been a big eater, just ate the wrong foods. I'm new to exercising too so that is really shedding the pounds. For exercise, I walk my dogs two to three hours a day, I swim now and then (laps). I ride my bike now that it is summer. Sometimes I do cardio videos from youtube.

A lot of people on here will tell you that you will go insane eating under 1200 calories a day or that you wont be able to keep it up for long. All I can say to that is that I have been doing it for six months now and it's working great for me. It's a plan I got from my doctor and a nutritionist who took into account all my personal needs. So it may not be right for you. I suggest you talk to your doctor before starting any diet and exercise program.
