How much do you drink?

I drink a lot less than I did. Used to be on 50 units or more a week.... which is way too much. Put it down to too much stress and unhappiness. Now I have converted a lot of that stress into exercise.
I now drink about 25 units or so a week and always plan for it. I just love beer and music too much to give it up, I refuse.
How about everyone else here?

Used to drink 100 units a week :noway: but have been T-total for 9 years & have never regretted giving alcohol up0

Last night? 6? That's not normal though, it was a concert. I would say my usual is 2-3 drinks during one happy hour during the week, glass of wine one day and then on the weekend it can average from 0-10 vodka sodas.0

How did you even manage that?!0 -
I know, unbelievable isn't it? Vodka was my weakness and boy, could I put it away!!! Thankfully and miraculously my liver survived and I didn't do any damage. Am sure I would have been dead though now if I'd carried on! :frown:0

Hmm... Zubrowka....0

Never been a big drinker, I know how to have fun without being intoxicated and I like to know I won't be doing anything stupid. And alcohol has TONS of calories.
ok I'll shut up now.0 -
It probably averages out to a couple glasses of red wine a week on a monthly basis. Red wine has healthy properties, as long as it fits your macros and calories.0

Does not compute.0 -
2-3 times a year. Some 4-6 drinks each time.0
-
I'll drink a few beers on the weekends, if if fits my macros (sometimes even when it doesn't!). I don't normally drink anything alcoholic on weeknights.0

I know, I've always been the oddball, :laugh:0 -
I have never been a drinker. My husband was an alcoholic(not abusive in anyway except neglect). His poison was vodka. Not too bad on beer. Anyway, kudos to all of you for cutting back or quitting. Someone in your life is very glad you did.0

2 glasses of red wine every Friday. Sometimes repeat on Saturday :-)0

I used to be the girl asking her friends if they wanted to go out every other weekend- every weekend. That was until last year. The place I went was not to pricey on beer before 10. So I'd have 20 between 6pm & 10pm. After 10pm I'd switch to shots, and have between 5 & 10 more. Sometimes even a cherry vodka sour. Or a dirty dog.
I haven't drank since March 30th. A good friend invited my husband and I out next weekend. We will probably go.0 -

People can enjoy a drink without becoming intoxicated. I drink wine. Properly paired it enhances the flavors in my dinner.
People who think anyone who ever has a drink must be an out of control raging alcoholic on a constant bender are either incredibly naive or religious zealots.0 -
A bottle of wine every other saturday with my girl friends. Though I think I may re-evaluate since last time I was very drunk on the bottle, I think lowering my calories has lowered my alcohol tolerance and the hangover was hellish :sick:0

yes you are right, I was referring to people who go out and cant have fun without being drunk, I mostly was thinking of few friends of mine IRL. when I made that comment.0 -
I used to drink a couple glasses of wine or a couple beers several nights a week. Now I have about one glass of wine a week and maybe a beer if I've been working hard outside on a really hot day.0
-
I usually have 1-2 drinks a day... one after work (the type varies), and a scotch and soda (mostly soda) before bed if it fits in my calorie intake. At parties, etc. I'll have more but will always try to work what I have into the net calories, or make them up.0

and sometimes you have to become intoxicated to not reach over the table and get uppity with someone being stereotypically holier than thou.
I drink when I feel like it. Been a lot less than normal. I like bourbons, beers, wines are ok. I make my own beer, and wine. I'm hoping to learn to make spirits this year. Sure it's illegal, but so is speeding.
Alcohol is an imminently useful thing, from social situations to culinary situations. Generally when people say things like, I know how to have fun without drinking or being intoxicated... One of two things is true:
1. You aren't fun.
2. You are projecting your own personal fears and shortcomings on others.
Oh, and alcohol does have some calories. I'll shut up now.
(A couple glasses of wine are great for you! Even if it's of the two buck chuck varietal.)0 -
I used to drink on the weekends about 10 shots a night.
Then out of nowhere, I became the angry drunk and started punching things and shattered my hands.
So no more drinking for me. Haha.0 -
In college I drank about every other weekend, 6-8 drinks. Now that I've graduated I've only drank twice in the past year!0
-
I usually drink 4-5 nights out of every month. Sometimes less, sometimes more. On the nights I drink, it can be anywhere from just one glass of wine, to a couple glasses, or a few shots of vodka. It just depends.0

I'd easily pack away 50 units a week, probably more given the money and the opportunity. I practically became intolerant to alcohol to the point where I could drink 1.5 bottles of wine and not be drunk but spinny and wake up with a hangover.
It was a gradual decent into addiction and denial. In August last year I started different tablets which reacted weirdly with alcohol and I just cut down from 3+ bottles a week to 2, then 1, then about half a week by November. Then I relapsed mentally and alcohol went out the window - I've still got bottles of wine from Christmas given to me with spirits and beers.
Since Jan 1st, I've had 25 units in total, and nothing in nearly 3 months. Do I crave it? Occasionally, but only from a habit point of view. Will I drink it? I hope not, but I'm not going to deny myself if I fancy it that much. Is it worth it? Not to me, anymore. Do I feel better for not drinking? Understatement of the century - alcohol was blocking all my problems out that although are painful to confront, need to be sorted.
I've put myself deliberately in situations where alcohol is available (pubs, meals, gigs) and not felt the need to drink.0 -
In my 20's and very early 30's I would drink 7 nights a week and be smashed most nights. How many units? I really couldnt tell you but I guess most nights would have been 10+. The reason behind it was youth, freedom (from a catholic boarding school), a high pressure job where drinking was a "normal" form of relief, peer pressure etc etc etc... Just the normal stuff I guess.
In my early 30's I got glandular fever. I wasnt allowed to drink for 6 months and I didnt. When i was allowed to drink, I found that I didnt want it anymore.
Now I'm in my mid-40's and I look back and think that getting glandular fever when i did was a blessing!
I'm not tea total. I drink 2-3 times a year on average and it's usually between 1-3 drinks. I probably get "merry" once every 3 years. To be absolutely truthful I rarely feel like alcohol even when I go out. I've found I can have as much fun not drinking as I did when i was drinking. The bonuses are that I get to drive home and I remember what happened0 -
0. I come from a big family history of alcoholics so I've always stayed away from it. And now that I've cut out soda I only drink water. Dang, how boring :yawn:0

Until recently, I averaged 3 drinks each week night and probably 10 on Friday and/or Saturday. Waaay too much alcohol.Something clicked in March and I decided to make a change. I now average about 1 drink on weeknights- sometimes none, sometimes 2 or so. I don't get smashed all weekend like I used to, but I still have one good night out with my friends or my hubby. It has made a huge difference in my motivation, eating habits, and how much energy I have.0
-
Lots...probably way too much most of the time...I tend to party, always have. I should probably cut back...0
-
Amen, from a fellow wino.0

Whoa, I think the beers I drink are in the 10 unit per range.0
