August Ironman Challenge (open)

3 weeks of volume training left for me before taper time. So let see what totals I can knock out this month.
Have to say the start of August was slow as I missed a few days training, but it should pick up from here on. Got some big weeks planned, we will see if my body and mind holds out!

My doctor has cleared me to start running again next week after an injury and I can't really run yet. I will start the C25K with a goal of running a 5k by halloween. But I can walk like crazy.
Swimming on the other hand... lets just say I am a terrible swimmer. BUT, I am going to work at it until I become decent. My goal is to go from the fat smoker I was in April to complete the IRONMAN 70.3 in Racine, WI next July. Today is 99 days smoke free and almost 50 lbs lost.0 -

Starting off a little late this month.
Last month was my best so far. Smashed my main targets of 85 miles running and 140 miles on the bike. I got to swim but wasnt a priority to make the 3 mile target.
This past week and rest of this sees me taper for my 10K race on Sunday (Barnsley Cannon Hall Run). So I am setting my targets to default as i have no idea of what ill be doing in total this month.

Add another 5.4 miles jogging/walking and 20 miles biking today. I set new standards for myself today jogging almost non-stop for 5 miles. It was a pretty slow pace but I maintained it and after a short warm up walk did 5 miles in an hour. I am very please as 4 months ago I was obese and smoking and couldn't have jogged 100 yards at any pace.
Then I hit the bike and did 20 miles at 18 mph avg. which is a personal best. I don't think I could have done that when I was young and fit.
A pretty good day for me. Can't wait to do it again tomorrow.0 -
