190s to 160s Anyone???

Started at a peak of 234 January 2011 and started MFP a few months ago. I've been sitting between 199-203 for a month and I finally took the scale away from myself for the month of August to stop focusing on number and focus on diet and workouts and how my body feels. My ultimate goal is about 160-165.
I'm 5'4". I don't know that I'd be in 160s by Christmas, it comes off pretty slowly for me because I'm not hardcore dieting, more changing my overall lifestyle, exercising and portions, I'm aiming for about 5lbs a month, I think I'd be closer to the 180 mark. I jog 3x a week for 30-40 min and I do yoga classes for 90 min 2x a week.
Anyone can feel free to add me, i'm always looking for good friends to motivate/help motivate me!0 -
I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 190 at the moment, i don't have a specific goal weight but i assume it will be way under 160. I'm just see what i feel comfortable with. I'm mixing it up with dvd's ,running and loads of walking.
Feel free to add me people.0 -
168lbs is my next target number (from 198 am 182 now) I have not weighed this since I was 18 (now 30) and it will be a huge accomplishment for me to see it again. I will be aiming lower and into a healthy BMI range for my height (5'4") from there but I am not sure how much yet. At first i though 126 but now I'm thinking that I will see how things go at 140 first.0

I'm 5'5.5" started at 214, currently at 185.. Goal is 160.
Wooohooo!! 160 Buddy. lol. 10 more lbs and I will be 185 as well :happy:0 -
I started at 189 and I'm currently 182, if I could get down to 147 eventually I'd be happy but I think 154 is more realistic. But I'm setting myself mini goels so I'd like to be 173 by the end of August, I'm 5f 5 by the way.
I used to be 121 when I was low carbing and weighing everything, I was totally obsessed and felt fatter than i do now, which I know sounds odd.
I mostly use the iphone ap but I'd love to add people as friends because there is no support on there. I'm counting cals and aiming to exercise 3 times per week,,,so if I sound like someone who might motivate you and you might motivate me add me )0 -
Hi there
I'm very new to myfitnesspal but am really loving it.
I started my new lifestyle regime at 202 in Jan, am currently at 180 and my goal is to reach 167. At 5ft4, this will still mean that I have a bit of padding but at my age I'd rather have the padding and fewer wrinkles!
I was following a kilojoule restricted diet of 6500kj per day and am battling to convert my way of thinking to calouries especially when I'm cooking food at home as opposed to buying ready-made meals.
Reading the blogs and topics on the site have been inspiring.0 -
My peak was 239 lbs. I'm down to just under 180, but still working my way down. It has taken me a long time with many ups & downs because of 3 knee surgeries, but I'm on the road to recovery.....slowly but surely. Since I have a desk job, I watch what I eat very carefully (most of the time). I study nutrition and health in my spare time just to be sure I'm doing it right.
I also exercise when I can, doing what I can do to push past the physical limitations. I have a great support team in my husband and my kids.
Knowing there's so many others who want to do this really helps to motivate me. Let's go!!!!!!0 -
I started at 195.5 im at 177 no if I could lose those 7lbs this month Id be sooooo Happpy!0

I started at 198, now at 192....doing P90x and two and half weeks into the program. Please folks, feel free to add me, always looking for motivation and support.....oh and my goal is to get to 165....0

I started out two years ago at 235. I'm 5'6" and I currently weigh 176 lbs... my ultimate goal is somewhere between 145 and 150, although I would really be happy at 160. I like food too much to be anything less than that. :P
I aim to work out at least 5 times a week, doing about 60 mins of cardio and burning 600-700 cals (according to my HRM). I also do some work with free weights about 2-3 times per week. I aim to eat about 1600-1800 cals per day. My weight has been slow to come off - I'm a college student so my weekends can be disastrous for my weight loss, but I don't let it bother me too much... I find that taking the weight off slowly is better for keeping it off! I haven't gained more than a couple pounds back throughout my journey and I've always lost it again!0 -
I started MFP in Mar 2011 at 202 lb. By September 2011, I hit my lowest weight of 168, but put weight back on as I finished school and suffered back and joint pain problems. So, about 5 weeks ago I started to focus again on using MFP and working out since I graduated from school (no more late nights studying fueled by sweets and caffeine) and the pain in my joints is under control. So, 5 weeks ago I was 192 pounds and am now at 186. My ultimate goal is to get to 165 by the end of the year, with my goal for Aug to be at 179.0

I started out at 206 last July and as of today have lost 67 lbs. My profile pic is my new before/after pic. My original goal was 140 and when I reached it I just thought, what the heck, gonna shoot for 135! I have 3 lbs to go. I never thought I would get this low. I also went from a size 20 pants size to a size 8. This is my lowest weight in over 20 years! It can be done! Just take it 1 day at a time!
CONGRATS!!! You look awesome!!0 -

I got a basic one at Walmart for $17.98. I found I could lose 10 pounds by switching from my right foot to my left foot on my old scale so I went ahead and got a new one.
And well worth the $ too. After seeing the added weight put on after a cheat day I have been very careful to not do it again!0 -

Thats a good point! I definetly think I need a new scale. I can lose or gain a good amount of weight just by leaning to the left or right even slightly.lol0 -
I'm 190 and wanting to get down to 145 lbs, but I'm only 5'4. I'm going to be going to the gym 5 days a week starting tomorrow and my goal is to lose as much weight possible the healthy way by new years and continue to get healthy and stay active the rest of my life. Ive slowly started to change my eating habits so it becomes a life choice not a diet and TONS of water. you should be drinking;
your body weight divided in two and the result in number of oz needed for a day.
for example i weight 190 half that is 95 so 95 oz. of water a day.0 -
That would be a wonderful Christmas present. I am currently 191. and I am looking to be 159
I loose real slow but I will try my best.
Success to all of us.0 -
I started at 210 (15 stone) and want to get down to 168 (12 stone). I am currently 192 (13 stone 10). I am 5'6".
I am eating fewer calories, and exercising more. I am on my summer hols at the moment so have a more variable routine, but when I'm back in work next week I will be doing:
15 mins aerobics workout every morning.
Walk to work and back (30 mins) every day.
30 mins swim once a week
3-4 x 30 mins sessions of yoga or pilates a week.
I know it is going to take a while to get to my goal, but I am determined to do it this time.0 -
Im only 5 foot nothing and now teeter between 201 and 198. I am having the hardest time getting under that at all, and my goal is 145-155. it seems like I have ALWAYS been dieting and have a hard time getting it to come off. 5 years ago I lost 60lbs kept it off for 3 years then slowly gained most of it back, I started all over again at 245lbs and in 2years lost 45lbs. on the flip side i have a best friend that just lost 100 lbs using this site, and looks great. she is an encouragement but also lives a few states away.
so I know that it is sooooo hard and I do get frustrated so much. but this site does help me.
good luck. and lets help each other get there!0 -
I weigh 190 and 5'6" and would love to be down to 160 by Christmas.0

You have a great goal!!
My goal is 120's but only because I am short, You are way taller so your goal should be higher!
I've just been exercising and eating a reasonable calorie ammount (1,300 - 1,500 sort of depends on how much I exercise)
good luckk ~
Feel free to add me for motivation -- anyone c:0 -
I'm 5'2" and trying to lose about the same as you are. I started losing when I weight 207 pounds, when I couldn't even feel good in an XL shirt, and got down to 172. I'm back up to 185ish, and trying to get out of the 180's for good. My goal for now is to be 150. I think that's still considered "overweight" for someone my height, but we'll see what I think about it when I get there. I haven't weighed 150-anything since my sophomore year of high school. That was six years ago. My work shirts are mostly mediums, and pants size 12's. I can't afford a new wardrobe, so there's yet another reason not to gain any more weight.
Once the temperature gets back into the 70's and it stops raining, I'm going to bike to work at least two days a week. I do sit-ups, push-ups, and squats at work early morning or in the evening when it's slowest. I just started doing weights at work, too. I'm planning on getting one of these for when I watch TV at home: http://www.target.com/p/exerpeutic-portable-mini-stationary-recumbent-bike/-/A-13922721 Other than that, I want to keep logging and trying to eat healthy.
Edit - I expect I'll be where I want to be by March. I was plateaued for a while, and then I started going up, so I gave myself about four weeks for every five pounds I want to lose.0 -
Whoo for a 190's to 160's thread. Well done to everyone who has made such great progress already, and good luck for everyone looking to achieve their goals .
I'm 5'6 and currently 192 (give or take 2lbs depending on the day...) aiming for the 170's by Christmas and fingers crossed for the 160's by my 25th birthday (end of Feb). Going for a slow and steady approach, so i'm not too bothered providing I don't gain and there's some sort of downward trend  .0 -
I am exactly where you are. I am 6 ft trying to get down to 155. Right now I am sitting at 191, about be in the 180's boat. The only thing I can suggest is lots of vegetables. I even limit my fruit intake sometimes, because it leads to wanting more and more sugar! I am a sugar fein, so anything with sugar and It starts a frenzy! I also quit doing cardio that I hate, for starters I found that when I did circuit training, It was hard for me to stick with because I wasn't excited, there for I didn't see the results I wanted, instead I traded it out for Zumba ( which is awesome for me because I love to dance ) and it stuck! I work harder at Zumba than I did while I was circuit training, which in turn showed me better results! Good Luck! I wish you the best!0

I started right at 200lbs in January and am currently at 159 (5'6). I'm trying to ultimately get down to 135 but my mini goal for now is 150. So far it's just been exercise (cardio and a couple of strength classes mixed in each week) and staying close to my calorie goal. Some of the challenges I participate in on here help me tremendously in staying accountable.
My goal is to start weight training soon so I can tone up and reduce some of the jiggly. :-)
Best wishes to you and don't give up!0
