Don't give up!
It took me 1.5 years to loose 40 pounds, which is longer than most, but I lost it in the end. Take it a pound at a time, as long as the trend is downwards it is good.
Another question: Do you weigh yourself at the same time every time you weigh yourself? I weigh myself in the morning before I get dressed, I record it weekly. This way I can see my real loss, not my fluctuations. When I weigh myself in the evening with clothes on I am easily 4 pounds heavier.
Also; why did you think you lost 5lb but lost 1lb? Sometimes different scales say different things, so try to use the same scale every time, don't worry (or get excited) if your weight is different on a different scale, they can vary greatly. Timeof the month can also really help gain your weight, or in my case having a chinese meal means I gain 2 lb by the next day as the salt boosts my water level. Learn what makes your weight fluctuate and you will be less stressed about it. You can't learn this in a month though. It takes a while to learn what your body responds well or badly to.
I have lost 10 pounds in the past without loosing an inch, so be proud of your inch!

Baby or no baby - sorry but cooking can still be done.... I was a single mother for almost 7 years and had no problem cooking meals from scratch .
It is a great way to start your child on real foods, not junk... Start the good habits now and your child will reap the benefits of seeing Mom eat healthy and they will want to eat the same foods you are.

Just looked at your diary and the days you've actually put in food you go way over your calories. (200/300+ each time)
The only time you're not going over your calories is when you're adding quick calories(guestimating probs) which are probably incorrect.
You're also not adding drinks, a glass of pure orange is a 100 calories. I've seen you eat mcdonalds like 3 times in a week/2 weeks too. You should be drinking only water to save calories for food.
I'm sure if you can afford mcdonalds you can afford some skinless chicken and salad/rice. low calorie food doesn't cost much.0 -
This also may be unpopular, but where do you do your yoga and your pilates?
I have never been an advocate of these thigns for "weight loss" as a standalone class. You need cardio and strength work in your life sweetie, more than you need to be able to do downward dog.
As you have a large number of processed foods in your diet, your sodium might be an issue. Check out the salt content in all your food, as too much salt is bad bad bad.
Do you have any stairs in your home? if you can incorporate simple functional exercises within your home (as you say its not very safe to workout outside) then that will be a huge help. Running up and down the stairs, dips from the edge of a chair, body weight squats/air squats, mountain climbers, abs work....

Don't give up. I know I feel like that a lot. Although it seems easier....it will be harder. I see you have a baby. Think of it like this....if things were getting tough for them, you would not say, "just give up".

I found getting started is the hardest part, esp after having a baby. I have 3 boys 10, 9 and 2 and am still struggling to lose 15lbs from my last pregnancy. I have the hardest time with just time management and eating things that are easy to log. Which for me means not eating out as much. Eating out only brings on more unnecesary calories and fat. Unless you have the time to work out hard and push it past your comfort zone its hard to see weight loss. I have lost some inches around my hips and waist doing cardio 5 days a week with ab and free wts and havent lost hardly any weight, but i can tell in my clothes. Once you get past the number and look at the change in your body, numbers dont mean as much. Once you get over this first hurdle, your body will change and bump up that metabolism so u will be burning more during the day than u use too. You change inside before you start seeing results on the outside and most of this is a chemical process due to pumping up the metabolism and putting on that muscle. After having kids i saw immediate change in my metabolism and had a harder time getting weight off that i expected so u will need to bite the bullet and kick up the intensity in your workouts. I noticed that helped me with my body and also with time management. Less time with a higher intensity makes for more time for kids and family.
I feel like on some days i want to give up too, but then i realize what changes I do see and am thankful i am moving forward and not going backward.
Keep trying and let me know how it goes:) I know its not easy, but frustrating and that can hinder your progress. Fight it and stay in the loop. And then look back at the baby and say its all worth it.

Stick with it. Maybe lower the calories or make sure to eb more exact on measuring your potions. Make she count eveything including sauces and such. Its not a quick fix but it feels good when you get there0

My suggestions would be drink more water, stop eating fast food and definitely limit the processed foods. I also noticed some days it looks like you skipped meals, that's an unhealthy habit. Don't give up, I really think if you can improve your diet you can really make some great progress.
I'm not trying to be rude but I feel like that is just an excuse, I have a 7 1/2 month old who I breast feed....I know all about being up during the night, I make sure I have something for breakfast. Try something you can take on the go...a bagel or lately one of my favs has been 2 slices of wheat toast with a little butter and honey...or I cut up some fruit the night before and eat that for breakfast.
Also I just wanted to comment and say you could save a lot of money on buying groceries as opposed to eating fast food...I've been there that's part of the reason I'm over weight now.
Well i never been a breakfast person. You can call it an excuse all you want. I Am cutting fast food out i just ate it that day because i was drinking and dont bother to tell me to 100 percent cut out drinking. That will never happen.
I can see not being a breakfast person, that I why I usually have something light, just to wake me up and hold me over. I'm not telling you to cut out drinking, but maybe you should log every drink you have...is that not part of your daily calorie intake? I had a few drinks the other night coincidentally I ended up gaining my 2 lbs lost back, it took me 3 more days just to get the progress I had already made back. I don't drink often and that was enough to make me realize I want my hott body back more than I want a drink.0 -
I Like to cook and i eat as clean as i can. I Do not have a bunch of money for food $80 for two weeks but when i get a job i will be able to put $50 more in which that will bring me to $130 but i really do want to eat clean. Maybe you can tell me some foods that are not out my budget.
I'm a broke single mom and I don't eat Frito's or Ramen or Hamburger Helper. My son and I eat like kings, quite frankly. I won't lie to you, I eat some junk and some things that others would not consider "clean" but for the most part, we eat well. I used to be the QUEEN OF THE HAMBURGER HELPER back when I was in my 20's and now I don't touch the stuff.
**Buy meat on sale and freeze it. I hawk my favorite grocery stores and get meat that is about to expire with the stickers for $1 or $2 off and I freeze it. This is how I can afford steak almost every week.
**I use my crock pot a lot. Put some cheap chicken parts in the crock with some salt & pepper and other seasonings if you have them and it's done in a few hours. Easy.
**Frozen vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh. So is frozen fruit. Right now I am getting a lot of produce from roadside stands but when that is all over, I use frozen. Not expensive.
**Buy a rice cooker and get big bags of brown rice. Cheap and easy to prepare if you have a rice cooker. I can't cook rice on a stove to save my life but my rice cooker makes it perfect.
**Buy a big bag of beans and cook them on the stove or in the crock pot and then you'll have them to eat all week long.
**Whole chickens can be had for less than $1.00 a lb and cook up easy in the oven or crock pot. Pick at it all week, put it in casseroles and turn the bones into soup.
Do you have an Aldi near you? Some of their processed food is crap but every week they have certain vegetables or fruits on sale for dirt cheap. Bags of baby carrots for 49 cents? Cucumbers for a quarter??? SCORE.
You can do this, you just need to do a bit more planning. It's only going to get crazier once you go back to work so if you get yourself organized now, it will mean a lot less headaches later.0 -
Dont give up!!! You are worth it to be healthy and fit!
Try to mix things up a bit. Change your calorie intake and your work outs. Try some weight lifting to help build muscle.

Take a step back and revisit your goals. Not only weight goal but all of them.
Mine were:
Be healthy
Be full of energy
Live longer
Feel good,
look good
be able to do sports
be active
etc...
Would I quit trying to get healthier? No!
Would I quit trying to live longer? No!
See where I'm going?
Loosing weight isn't just about the looks, it's about everything else.
Don't quit over yourself, you are worth the effort my dear!!! Add me if you like. My diary is open and you may find interesting food ideas in there. I've lost 129 pounds in a year. If I can do it, you sure can

This time next year do you want to be the same weight, or heavier, and still miserable? OR do you want to be healthier, thinner, and happier?
It takes time. I have given up so many times and to look back at those time I gave up I am disappointed. If I would have stuck to it two years ago when I first started MFP I would be in a totally different position these days. Do not give up. Change your routine, change your mindset, find your motivation. Focus not on the scale but on the NSV's. I find motivation in those questions I asked above, and in streaks. I like to be able to say "I've worked out in some way for x amount of days!" or "I haven't went over my calories in x days".
Find what it is that will get you up and moving. I have found that when I upped my exercise and really pushed it, I naturally wanted healthier foods (whether this is because I didn't want to ruin my exercise progress with junk food or my body craved the things only fruit and veggies can give).0
