The Stairmaster is hands down the biggest calorie burning machine in the gym! Running outside at fast past comes in second.

muay Thai or BJJ. Both intense, both high burns.
  • Elliptical, hands down! 400-500 calories per 40-60 minutes. If I use my iPod playlist appropriately, I do timed intervals. High intensity v. low intensity.

    I run 7-9 miles 4 days a week. I try to keep my pace around a 6.2 .
I usually burn 1500 calories when I am done. 1200 if I only go 7 miles.
  • Interval training has really racked up the calories for me!

Running, Interval Class (weighted exercises with bursts of cardiovascular activity), Spinning, and TurboKick. Probably in that order, but much depends on individual intensity. Some days, I work harder than others. Good luck!

an hour of zumba burns more than an hour of running for me -- around 550-700 (depending on the playlist. haha.)

boot camp = 400-550 (depending on the circuit)

Running at least 4 miles, HIIT strength training, Spinning, and my football practice for my fundraising game as well all burn in those high ranges. Hot Yoga does for me as well. Some days I also work out in the AM and PM, such as days where I run and then have practice in the PM.

Edit: 4 miles at least for me because I have been running for some time now. Your body does become more efficient at activities which is why it is so important to keep challenging yourself and changing it up to keep burning those calories!

It also depends on how much you weigh, a larger person will burn more calories than a smaller person as well. In 30 mins, I burn 500 cals on the treadmill 15 incline 2.8 speed.

I'm always seeing people that I am friends with burning 400-500 calories doing some type of exercise. How are you achieving such high calorie burns? What is your favorite calorie burning workout?

Running for me, I burn approx 100 calories every ten minutes - 600 calories per hour if I run for that amount of time.

Cross-country hiking and roller skating. Not at the same time: that would be rather unsafe.

I don't remember the article off the top of my head, but one of Lyle McDonald's articles says 100 cals per 10 minutes is a good gauge for most people.

I burn 400 in 35 mins on the elliptical doing interval with resistance and incline. I always cross reference the calories burned on the elliptical to what MFP says.

    In general for me:

10 cal/min for me is my Recovery zone activity.

    12 cal/min is Aerobic zone.

15-16 cal/min is Lactate threshold zone.

    17 over is Anaerobic zone.

I could do 15 cal/min for an hr, but it better have been a rest day before, and it'll likely be one after. And usually spin bike, running is too much pounding for that level though I have done it, outdoor bike as too many stops to maintain it.
