yep a good quality one is def one of the items I wouldn't be without. you can throw just about anything you want in there.
  • I pick up a pork loin when its on sale, cut in half and freeze one of the cuts.
Throw the 1/2 loin in (frozen or otherwise) with a can of rootbeer or a can of coke (or half and half if someone will drink the rest).
Let it stew for 6 hours, take the meat out and rip it apart with two forks on a cookie sheet, I like to cut off any fat at this point, it grosses me out.
Dump the liquid, but keep about a cup.
Put the meat back in, add the juice and whatever else and let it stew for another hour.

Last week I used 4 tbsp of apricot jelly, half a cup of low fat bbq sauce, ketchup and some hot sauce.

Great on rice or buns, and easy to portion - heaps for the hungry boys and half a cup or so for me!

Dump Sticky Chicken (freezer recipe that goes in the crock pot)
    INGREDIENTS:

    2 tablespoons oil
    1 tablespoon soy sauce
    3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
    3 tablespoons ketchup
4 boneless chicken breasts (8 thighs)

    DIRECTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in ziplock freezer bag. Dump into crockpot in the morning; cover cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Rice in the rice cooker and green beans. The chicken is great the next day cold over salad!

    Bump..sounds awesome!!

Beef roast with a packet of Au Jus. Cook on low when I leave home in the morning and it falls to pieces for French Dips. I strain the juice and put a little in a bowl for everyone and serve it on hoagie rolls. You could probably find a better type of roll for it though. This is one of our all-time favorites!

crock pot?? wow you can do just about anything with one.. i put boneless skinless chicken in it and bbq sauce with a little water mixed in ..turns out very tender and no worries about anything sticking ...sometimes just a bit of water with seasoning like freeze dried onion ,italian seasoning and pepper ..you can slice them up for sandwiches or cut some of it up and throw over brown rice.. with the juice you can make some soup ... any meat with any veggies is also good
do you put it in low all day??? or high for 4 hours?
