I'm just going to stay away from milk period. If I eat fats it will be peanut butter, avocado and almonds.0

I love raw organic dairy products, but if that is all I ate it's too many calories. So I balance it out on occasion with a limited amount of fat free yogurt and cheese only. When I was 100% organic fanatic I was obese. It is equally unhealthy for me to be obese and I had worse heath problems even though I ate all organic. I soaked all my own grains, made my own cheese and whey, milled my own grains, used only raw dairy, fermented my own kombucha and sauerkraut, and the list goes on. But I was obese. Too many calories is too many calories no matter how "clean". All "clean" won't help you lose weight, although I agree the food is better and mostly more fattening.
So I figure a few "bad" items to keep me sane and keep my calories in check is a trade off to being obese. When you are as small as I am you just don't get to have a very big calorie budget, even when maintaining.
Everything is a trade off.
How would you be obese? Just don't eat as much? People eat sugar free/fat free so they can have more for less. I understand that but you don't need more.0 -

I don't like skim milk, so I tend to stick to 1% or 2%. I generally buy low or fat free cheese and yogurt, but that's mostly because the protein count is much higher in those. I certainly don't cut out full fat dairy though.
^^ I'm allergic to the whey protein in milk so the only milk I can have on a consistent basis is Greek yogurt, which only comes in fat free or lowfat. That being said, I clicked on the link to find a local farm for NJ and I came across this website that rather than telling us about their product, proceeded to bash the dairy industry with misspelled words, bad grammar and punctuation (almost like reading a Chinese menu lol). I have a hard time trusting that site. I do use grass-fed beef, but grass-fed butter and milk isn't not available within 20 minutes from me so I make do. I will def keep an eye out for more information about this though as my dad drinks at least a gallon of skim milk a week.0 -

I can't stand the taste or texture of whole milk. I feel like I'm trying to swallow a huge snot ball when I drink it. So, fat free (skim) it is!
I buy everything else full fat/regular though. Just don't make me drink the milk! Ahhh!
^^^^This is me. I have been drinking skim milk for eons. Don't have any problem with it. Do eat full fat in other dairy products.0 -
This post is genius. It brought out the dairy haters, fat haters, saturated fat haters, low-fat diet haters, pasteurization haters, people who are totally delusional about hormones and antibiotics, and even some taubes disciples and got them all to turn on one another. I couldn't have done it better myself.

I drink fat free milk because I like the taste. To me, whole milk tastes like I'm drinking a melted stick of unsalted butter.
The whole article posted by the OP is nothing by alarmist propaganda. The part about skim milk being produced in industrial feed / milking farms and pens is true. It's also true for basically ALL DAIRY, including their precious whole milk and butter. Don't want to antibiotics, buy organic from local or regional producers.....or buy a damn cow and feed and milk the thing yourself.0 -
People should be more concerned with what the dairy cow is eating in order to produce the milk in the quantities that they do. Palm kernels, grains, meal and all sorts of crap go into our dairy cattle in order to make more milk/money.
I am more concerned with food quality and nutrition when it comes to dairy.0 -
Fat does NOT make you fat. Sugar (carbs) make you fat. The science is clear people... the government has had it wrong for decades and the pharmaceutical industry has a specific interest in the disinformation that's been propagated.
Nature has it right. Eat what you find in nature and live well. Eat processed, altered, and modified foods and suffer the consequences of that diet.
I'm not being alarmist. I'm just a skeptic turned into a believer after a LOT of research and personal experience.
Besides, eat what you find in nature? There are hundreds of thousands of sugars in nature, in large quantities and various forms. Your argument makes zero sense, on any level.0 -

the people at butter believer dot com, after a brief google search, also think you can accumulate fat in your cells which is then genetically inherited by your children and they are giving away an ebook on how to completely cure eczema. That is just on the first page that popped up. Maybe wanting to rethink which sources you cite on this one?0

Sugar gives you diabetes not fat. They add sugar to many fat free items for flavor.
Wanted to clarify my thinking:
Sugar doesn't 'give' diabetes, otherwise every living creature would be diabetic. Too much sugar or too little in the blood stream is a result of diabetes. However there are positive correlations between obesity and diabetes (type2). That doesn't mean that obesity causes diabetes, just that the two go hand in hand. Otherwise all those who are obese would be diabetic.
Obesity is a risk factor: excess calories (including fat and sugar to excess) increase body mass and obesity. I haven't found any studies saying milk (full fat or otherwise) cause diabetes but I could be corrected!
Milk as it emerges from the cow has both lactose (sugar) and fat in it anyway. Processing can remove either or both.

I prefer skim milk, the whole milk is too thick for my taste. I'm sure I getting enough fat in my diet for those fat soluble vitamins.0

My husband and one of my daughters has somewhat of a milk intolerance, which is our reason for drinking 1%. I also can't stand the taste of whole milk, it's just too milky and thick for me. Not that I need to explain myself to other people, but some people don't have a choice but to NOT drink whole milk if they want some milk.0

Here's an idea: I drink 2% milk occasionally myself but I equally love and respect my friends who love their fat-free dairy AND those who swear by whole milk.
Why? Because it's none of my business what they drink. And titling a post in ALL CAPS "STOP EATING AND DRINKING FAT FREE DAIRY! PLEASE READ" is not showing that you care about people......it's a wee bit on the bossy side. Just saying.
Whether you are right or wrong isn't the point.....you should have spent some time in Tact Class to figure out it's better to educate people instead of bossing them around.

Whole fat cheese is a must for me. SO yummy!
Skim milk I drink because its cheaper and low in calories, I HIGHLY doubt that it is going to make me gain weight or ruin my health

I'm a huge whole milk drinker. But that doesn't mean skim doesnt get consumed here and there. When I need a few less calories, it works for me.0 -
