Sorry to say but I am right there with you.. I am in love with the 50 Shades of Grey books! And for all the people who say that they couldn't get past the first book, my favorite book was the 3rd one! Keep reading, it only gets better!0

What about those of us who got bored, disgusted and annoyed before they got through the first chapter of the first book?1 -
When I first started reading the book I was anoyed with how it was written. You never knew if she was talking in her head or out loud! LOL. But with all the hype I had to give it a chance and I was really glad that I did. Now my mother in law on the other hand did not make it very far into the first book, said it was too much for her to take in. :laugh:0

I have an English degree and delusions that one day I'm going to be a published author. I don't have a lot of patience for such subpar writing ability and I'm kind of offended it even got published. I gave it a shot out of curiosity, but my first instinct about it was correct.
Now if you want a good read with good writing and great story (and even some actual sex thrown in) I recommend Candace Bushnell. But you won't get a lot of romance, though I'm not sure you really get that with 50 Shades. Stalking and romance don't go together in my head.0 -
is driving me crazy!
When I first read this I thought it said "Christian Grey is driving Miss Daisy"
Which is wrong on so many levels...0 -

50 Shades drives me insane - it's horrendously disappointing that the one 'erotic' book to cross over into mainstream acceptance is such an appallingly written piece of nonsense. I made myself read all 3 so that when I decided to blow off about it I could.
I use the term 'erotic' very loosely by the way - I found the sex scenes repetitive and bland - how one woman can fill 3 books with so many sex acnes and never actually use the words penis, vagina, etc is beyond me. She is surprisingly coy for someone who is supposed to be sexually daring.
It gives such a distorted view of BDSM, there isn't space and time here to tell you just how wrong it is.
And I find it so sad that millions of women obviously find it arousing. Seriously, there is a wealth of amazing well-written erotica out there and that pap makes it to the best sellers list.
Pah. Of course there is a man out there who can make you cum from penetration alone first time, every time and who you can 'save' by the power of your love. Yep. Course there is.0 -
We talking bout the books that came to existance as twilight fan-fiction? I am all for BDSM, I trully am, I am all for more saucy books. I am. But there is not one word in "Twilight fan-fiction" sentence that I can like. I suspended my disbelieve for twilight books, I aint hurting my brain with this too.I get my sexy from Henry Millers writing f.e, or Anaïs Nin when i feel pretencious.
I generaly discovered that giving in into book hype is in 80% of cases a bad idea. Oh god Dan Brown, that..unexisting plot, oh god , bad literature hurts all life
Edit : Damn you double-negative, damn you to hell.0 -
Lame erotica0

Pretty much summed up my thoughts on this book.0 -
Those books are such piles of ****.
I can't even handle talking about them anymore. Forced my way through them and now I'm angry and want those couple hours of my life back.0 -
A truly awful book.....if it wasn't for the fact that he's a multi millionaire and stunningly good looking it would be a different sort of book........one where some abusive control freak ugly dude gets arrested and thrown in jail for being a stalking perv.
Not so attractive now is he ladies.......and to add, if someone spanked me so hard I couldn't sit down and had to take pain killers I'd attack him with a hammer.0 -

Was this originally called the secret room? Because as a member of the BDSM community (not a horny housewife) that fan fict was great and really explained BDSM relationships well. I can't bring myself to read the book now that the hype it has discredited my lifestyle. :laugh:0 -

You read more than I did. I made it a few pages when my brain started protesting the horrors of the words forced together awkwardly on the pages. It wasn't a novel, it was a word hostage situation.

I love erotic literature but can't get through those books. I'd much rather read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy.0

I was on PMS when I tried....note tried...to read the first book....I threw it actually lol
Found nothing attractive about a character like Christian Grey....emotionally challenged, control freak....no, HECK NO
I'd tell a guy like that to go *kitten* himself haha0 -

Pretty much summed up my thoughts on this book.
The problem with that review is that it makes me want to read the books so I can laugh at them. And I don't want the publisher getting any of my money!!!0 -
All I have to say about this book is the following:
That one bathroom scene
Also, I'm infuriated that, if I can't find someone from whom to borrow the other 2 books, that I have to buy them to find out what happens. I'm already pissed that I spent money on the first book :grumble:0 -
I think it didn't accurately portray the scene as I know it. Besides, it was written at something like an 8th grade level.0

If that's eighth grade level, eighth graders have gotten a lot dumber since I was 14.0 -

THIS!!!! I have 1 chapter left and I want to punch the author in the face for feeding this crap to women! The Christian Grey character is mentally F**KED and even tells Anastasia he is, but the author basically tells the reader "its ok if you fall in love with an *kitten*, because DEEP DOWN they are really struggling with something and they REALLY want to be better, so just deal with him hitting you until he's figured it out"....Every time I pick this book up it makes me angry....i wont even get into the annoyance of the "inner godess" BS....
and if you are asking why a man is reading trashy romance, it BC everyone is raving about this book and my little sister was telling me how is made her blush, so I had to see what all the hype was about. I'm so pissed she read this crap...0
