  • Don't you just love when arrogant people hijack your post and try to sound smart by educating you...on the psychological implications of pageantry as displayed in HERE COME'S HONEY BOO BOO!!

    LOL.

Boooooo! Get out of here with your annoying arrogant ways. I don't care if you're right or wrong. If you disagree with a post in the "Chit-chat, fun, and games" section, please do us a favor and LEAVE.

The TV network gave them a show because this little girl generated a lot of buzz from Toddlers in Tiaras. Edith Wood, also from that show (Toddlers in Tiaras), has a TV show too. No one commented on her neurotic mother or the use of the sugar on that show. Is it because the family in Honey Boo Boo is poor and overweight, rather than skinny and rich? Seriously? You people are incredibly judgmental, and have obviously never behaved in a manner deemed unfit by others. Your clear perfection and copious amounts of knowledge are far too superior for the rest of us. I would rather watch Honey Boo Boo than a show full of pretentious, anorexic women flaunting themselves and their money everywhere.

Wow, someone's got a chip on their shoulder about rich, thin people.

ETA: +1 for trying to sound intelligent though.

Love the show, watch all the new episodes. I also have a great sense of humor. Then again I guess "humor" is all in the eye of the beholder. But who the F cares... "A dolla makes me holla!!!"

Omg! A 6 year old saying that doesn't bother you?

As sensitive as so many seem to be on this site about every little thing, it amazes me that so many of you don't react to these sort of things and it's sad you guys watch shows such as this as entertainment. Stop watching other peoples lives and go live your own. Especially watching an exploited 6 year old girl on a staged show

I like this show because i think they are actually real and you can love em or hate them. They arent caught up with how people look at them, and they sure arent fake like some of the other families on tv.

Just to be clear...I'm not offended by the pagentry aspect.

I'm offended by the lack of education, by the stereotype of "ignorant redneck" it perpetuates in relation to southerners as a whole and by this woman who finds nothing wrong with loading her 7 year old, overweight child up on Mountain Dew, sugar laden energy drinks and f*cking cheese puffs.

It's a celebration of ignorance, junkfood diets and poor personal hygene.

there are chances that walking in on your parents having sex can do deep psychological harm, but the **** happens everyday. These girls are having fun. but my point on the show was that its cute because they're so country. just watch it once, you'll understand.

You read that article pretty quickly. Must be that thirst for knowledge.
I've taken many psychology classes. There are many things that can do harm to young children. like watching certain tv shows like south park and etc. If you watched here comes honey boo boo, its about the family!!! it's about the way they live and get ready for the pageant, its not about the pageant itself. don't judge it if you haven't seen it.

I doubt most young children would even understand South Park for it to do any harm to them. I can remember as a very young kid trying to watch like Saturday Night Live when I had stayed up and I didn't understand any of it so I found it extremely boring. Even as a bit older I didn't care for South Park since I truly didn't understand the depth of the humor but as an adult I love the show. TV doesn't affect children all that much and not sure what psychology class taught you otherwise.

I mainly posted this topic because I enjoy the show. I don't like mtv or high class trash like jersey shore, i'd rather watch country people like myself (:

Since I'm from Staten Island, I grew up around trashy people like those on the Jersey Shore. Can't stand that show. The Honey Boo Boo family just seems nicer. Don't have to be a country person to enjoy the show.

****, I'm glad I'm not a parent yet. The judgment you receive is absolutely amazing.

Although I vehemently agree giving your child a ton of caffeine is a terrible idea.

Love the show. To the OP, you had to have known someone(s) on their high horse would join in and be snarky and rude. That's just the way of the internet. You can be brave and rude without a photo!

"Pretentious, anorexic women who flaunt themselves and their wealth." I come from an affluent family. My fiance', myself, and son are far from the poverty line. There is no chip on my shoulder regarding people with money. It is the fact that no one criticizes the behavior of the skinny and rich, which is idolized in society, in fact they are glamorized. But people will openly begin to judge and hate the less privileged nd overweight without a second thought. This behavior saddens me, not a TV show.

I watched the show once to see why the hype was about. I can't stand it. I didn't grow up in the south but have lived in the south more than half my life. We really don't need something else to shed a bad light on southerners, the rest of america thinks southerners have bad grammar, are stupid, eat like Paula Dean every day and are fat as it is.

I think giving a 6 year old mt. dew and red bull is child abuse, as is letting them become obese because they are fed things like country crock/ketcup "spaghetti" instead of real food with real nutrients.

What you watch on tv is generally a direct reflection on your intelligence level. I've never seen an intelligent person say "I love watching Honey Boo Boo!".

If you take all the comments from this thread written by people who think the show is great, then put it through an online writing analyzer (like the ones they use for the RNC and DNC speeches. Blue Centauri is the one I used), it comes out to a 2.7th grade level.

now THAT is a world i can't wait to live in

I agree. I like it because it shows them being real. I mean, this is what more than half of america is like, whether people want to admit it or not. I love the show because it shows it doesn't matter where you come from, everyone's beautiful.

No this show says that if you spend enough money, pile enough make-up on, wear wigs/hair extensions, fake teeth, and have a spray tan then you're beautiful.

So uncalled for. And I don't even like the show. This is an internet forum, not a college course.

Saw the show for the first time. I think it's sad and a commentary on gross TV. I will never watch it or its likes again. American TV has hit another low.

That family is what is wrong with America. Them and the folks of Jersey Shore. Shameful.

    I've taken many psychology classes.

Really? You're 18. How many psychology classes would you say you've taken? Probably not as many as the psychologist who wrote the article.
really? i'm going on 19 and I'm in college. I took many elective psych classes in highschool and am in a few currently

Ummmm, isn't everyone who is 18, going on 19? I think the way those hill billies live is a disgrace and I am a "country" person myself. Wanna see what Honey Boo Boo is gonna look like when she grows up? Look at her mother.

That show, the network that allows it to be made and the people that watch it are all perfect examples of what is totally wrong with this once great nation.
    Wow, you're awfully arrogant.
Hi, nice to meet you Perfection, didn't know god created you.
You can't put down everyone that watches a show just because you don't like it. Grow up.

How did you not know that? God created us all.

Seriously, it's because not many people probably heard of her show. Which do they promote more? The skinny rich girl or the overweight slob? I haven't seen the other girls show so I can't say ANYTHING about it. But I have watched the trailer for "honey boo boo" and it's disgusting. But seriously, you have a chip.

To the comment that someone posted on "a dolla makes me holla" I do not know WHY they would promote a child saying that either! It's like saying "it's ok to do WHATEVER for a dollar!"

    Disgusting.
