Instead of looking for evidence of starvation mode, people ought to search peer-review journals on topics of calorie restriction, adaptive thermogenesis and semi-starvation and you'll come across a plethora of studies on various populations and the negative outcomes of maintaining CR for an extended period of time - one of which is irreversible bone mass density loss which can't be corrected by calcium supplementation. By that point, a greatly depressed RMR and leptin concentration will be the least of your concerns.
