Some things are cut and dry , right and wrong........
You don't have to accept that, but to discredit something today, and then literally ask for advice from the same people the next day (not a metaphor you literally hating on bodybuilding sites 2 days ago) .....that's ignorance and hypocrisy, not some form of indivuality.0 -
So what are you gaining by pointing out all my grammar mistakes when I am openly admitting I am unable to properly communicate to others in a way that presents me as intelligent because I am in fact not?
You are making claims. I am asking you to clarify and explain claims. You wanted debate. You can't have debate without being able to communicate and dissect. It's what it is all about.
But I didn't want debate as much as I just wanted a pool of great ideas about the article I posted. No one is doing that. We went from the article, to how I'm an idiot for believing the article, to how I'm an idiot, to how I am a learning disabled retard, and now to "why is this thread even in existent".
So you wanted to post something with no evidence and for everyone to just post up "thank you"?0 -
But it was her opinion that the boy's story wasn't fact despite it being presented as such.
It was her opinion, based on facts. You can't just accuse parents of child abuse without facts. The nature of the bruises. Evidence of sexual abuse. Tests.
What you are indirectly accepting is that intuition is just as scientific as logic. The world is flat right? No, my intuition says that you are wrong. But I am done with this banter. You clearly have no interest in being nice to me.0 -

1. You are the only person who called yourself names. No one here called you stupid, retarted, or even brought up any learning disabilities or issues you might have. You brought them up yourself.
2. You want people to provide their "opinion" (based in science or emotion) and then just shut up? We can say what we think and then not discuss it further? That is never going to happen.0 -

You're the only one calling yourself a learning disabled retard. Originally, your assertion that the article was true with no proof, was called ignorant. You were not called ignorant. But after you got pissed at everyone and starting talking about yourself as a person, then the debate turned to you as a person. Stay objective... and then you actually have a higher horse to talk about how other people are not being objective.
I agree with the others. You are a highly skilled troll.0 -

I'm thinking you have a skewed worldview. Again, this is an observation from someone who works with people with learning disabilities and special needs and went to school for Psychology.
Not being able to see or understand logic is a sign of being on the spectrum (Autism). ADHD is specifically focus and memory (that generally has a high correlation to dyslexia, but I'm not seeing that here). I'm not saying you have Autism, but I am saying you're misunderstanding your diagnosis and seem to be applying it to things it isn't connected to. Kind of like if someone with Diabetes said, "Well, I can't read because of my Diabetes." Unless that person happens to be blind (where, in that case, they can learn Braille), there is no causation between the two things. Having ADHD does not mean you don't understand logic. You don't understand logic, and you also happen to have ADHD.
I urge you to stop responding, go back through and objectively (as best you can) read every post. No one has said the words "idiot" or "retard' (which is, frankly, offensive when used in a derogatory manner, which YOU and no one else did).0 -
I will dub you, unintentional troll. Now stop looking for someone attacking you and start reading these posts with a little objectivity.
Ahhh...objectivity to learn new concepts.0 -

That's because the article is sensationalist crap.0 -

No, I posting something with no evidence so people could put their evidence in the pot and try prove or disprove it. Clearly this article lacks credibility, but it doesn't make it false. But I can form an opinion (thesis if you will) on the information before researching it can't I? If you read my OP, I never said "read this and OMG I can't believe they are doing this to us". It was a sheer curiousity for truth.
I cannot discern fact/fiction. It is a learning disability that I have as a result of cognitive impairments from my ADHD. I protect myself from being overly naive by questioning what I read (like all of you) but I cant process it like you and I end up believing it. It's not ignorance, it's the inability to do contrasting and higher level thinking.... You may see it as an excuse, but I seriously can't do this. I failed English 102 in college because I couldn't compare/contrast two essays. So this thread exists, because I am cognitively impaired in the ability to make decisions for myself. I am naive, trusting, and "ignorant"; but in most situations, it works in my favor. Unfortunately academia and factual reasoning it doesn't.0 -

That answers my question - this meme gives this thread a reason for existing.0 -
ADHD doesn't typically make you unable to figure out if something is true or not.
Not hating, but have you been tested for Aspbergers(spelling)? Cause you act more along the lines of having that.0 -

You ever think I feel stupid, retarded, or disabled? Here I am 30 years old and people younger than me are running cognitive circles around me. Do you have any idea how humbling that is to think you know something then find out that you don't know jack? I seriously thought I was starting an intellectual conversation and I would be able to learn something today. Those were my true intentions. I am sorry I can't think like you. I would be lying if I told you that I can think like you and I'm just not doing it.0 -

Yes last year and they came back with ADHD-C. If I have Autism, I am considered "really high functioning". Some debate that ADHD is on the spectrum. I don't know, I just know that I am not like my peers.0 -

Hey, I know a guy with aspergers syndrome, and he is very argumentative and exhibits other symptoms similar to ED. That actually makes much more sense than autism.
Yes, ADHD has nothing to do with differentiating fact from fiction. My hubby and son both have ADHD. I have ADD. (no "H" so I don't get crazy hyper like they do.) In fact many of the people I have known with ADHD are highly intelligent and excellent researchers. (not all of them though) It is also worth noting that ADHD is often over-diagnosed or mis-diagnosed.0 -

The advice I offer is this:
most of the people on this site are nice. We're on these boards to help people, stop misinformation, and for the most part be supportive.
Like you said, you're learning new things.
One of the best things I've ever learned is "pay attention and keep your mouth shut".
Asking questions is fine, but if you're new, don't argue. Listen to people with more experience.0 -

I am not "EccentricDad" because it was a cool name. The more you get to know just how "Eccentric" I am, the more it will make sense......
A troll is a person who acts a certain way because they know it will get someone to be angry or because they want to frustrate people with information that is misinformation. What do you call a person oblivious of this but does the same thing just being themselves?0 -

Once again, you are the only one calling yourself names. No one else has assigned those things to you. Some people did not agree with the article and/or your belief in it. That was it.
I'm sorry you feel that way about yourself, but you can't expect an entire forum to walk on eggshells regarding your self esteem. We are also entitled to our opinions, our research, and our ability to make logical conclusions. If you would spend some time reading instead of looking for fights in statements of disagreement, you might have learned something.
And as far as people younger than you "running cognitive circles" around who - so what? Some people are better at some things than other people. I'm pretty smart, but there are a lot of people on this forum who are smarter than me and that's ok. I'm a good cook, but I'm sure Gordon Ramsey is better. That's fine. It doesn't make me feel stupid or less of a person because someone else can achieve more than I can in certain areas.
When you are asking for opinions and advice on an internet forum, you have to accept and be ok with the idea that other people are smarter, have done more research, and might have different answers or opinions than you. Otherwise, what's the point? (besides argument)0 -

I went to school with a kid who had it. Highly intelligent, highly opinionated, very arguementative.

you seem to be a victim more than anything. If you havnt sought therapy, you might consider it. It cant be fun going through life with such a "poor me" attitude. You arent as special as you think. Most people have issues but parading them is not a healthy way to deal with them.0 -
It's fact for me. If it's not fact for you, then that's where you share your facts. But don't you dare push your facts on me as my facts are not the same.
You must read a lot of Nietzsche's work...0 -

Sounds like me. I'd like to believe that if people just disagreed with me respectfully/tenderly then I would be easier to debate with; but most people feel so passionate about their opinion/facts that they can't just say the truth, they have to attack the "other side" in the process.... I hear this all the time with the local "U of M versus State" debate. You can't just claim you are a State fan, you have to call U of M losers while you're at it....
I am not competitive but I do enjoy social interactions. In real life I am very friendly and enjoy small talk. But no one small talks on specialty forums except on FL and groups. All I want is to contribute to society and get a pat on the back. Can you imagine being less of a person than others who have all cognitive functions and never getting a pat on the back because they can't see you struggle within yourself?0 -

I am ignoring your tough love. I've had 29 years of abuse telling me the same thing. You don't think I've tried? Thank you for your tough love once again, but I don't need your "Just do it" advice okay? This is the kind of approach that is unacceptable to me. I didn't ask for advice, I am just trying to explain myself since everyone seems so interested (or rather they are being rhetorical and could care less; I can't tell).0 -
Funny you post this picture because my wife is making me watch the documentary this guy is in. While it's fascinating to listen to someone else's perspective about how our ancestors did the fine cuts and made these huge pyramids, I think we are just insulting the intelligence of our ancestors by saying they were too stupid to figure out these things on their own and they needed aliens to help them. But quite ironic you are posting this right now and we are in the middle of watching it at the moment.
You even argue Ancient Aliens???? its like the best documentary ever! This guy was the most entertaining part however.
And it wasn't that they were too stupid to figure things out its that *kitten* was so advanced we couldn't even do half the Sh**t they did back then, seriously the arrogance astounds in all your posts.Of course you'd argue even the most intellegent of documentaries, you have a complete disdain for facts.0
