Size 24 to size what??

As you can see, it is possible to be smaller. How much smaller? that depends on you, what you want your body to look like and how hard you want to work.
Concentrate on healthy and active. You will surprise yourself on how much you can do. Small steps, changing up your diet and walking or aerobic exercise 3 times a week. As you get lighter and fitter you will do more cardio, lift weights so when your fat melts away you have nice tone muscles to show off and not flabby skin.
Changes wont happen over night, its a life long process. You will have bad eating days and days you just dont want to exercise. But if those days are few an far between, you will do just fine.
I am 5'2" starting weight was 218 current weight is 159, hope to lose 20 more lbs. I have been at this for a year. Each day it gets easier to stay on track. I use to not be able to run around the block, now I am up to 6 miles. You will notice as you get smaller and closer to your goal the weight is harder to get off, you will have to work harder and that gets a bit discouraging.
What helps me is if I get discourage I'll go lift 60lbs of weights and say "you were walking around carrying this every day" I couldn't walk around all day carrying 60 lbs. So I know its not good for my joints and heart.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Its not easy but you will fee soo much better physically and mentally!!!0 -
I was a size 20 at my starting weight 238, I am now 206 and just in a size 18, I actually tried on a size 16 the other day and they fit! But I haven't started buying new clothes yet.. It gets too expensive to buy new clothes all the time.. I wear a really baggy size 18 LOL0
-
I'm 5'3 and started at 260 lbs, 24W. I'm now down to 206 and in a size 18W. I could probably get into a 16W, but I'm so used to the bagginess that I'd feel to poured into them. One of the good things is that now everything in my closet fits. The bad thing (if it can be a bad thing) everything I own, aside from one pair of jeans, is too big. I love being able to take off my pants without having to unbutton or unzip them. A few weeks ago I wore a pair of 24W jean capris to Walmart. I had to practically hold them on me. Love, love, love this feeling! My goal is to lose another 61 lbs at least and wear a size 10.
Wanted to add, if I can do it, anyone can!0 -
Great question first of all! Secondly....you CAN do this!! I was 342lbs and squeezing into a size 26/28 or 30/32 (when I could find them)I'm currently in an 18 and some 16's fit depending on the brand. I have lost 95lbs in the last 10 1/2 months and I currently weigh 246lbs. I still have another 60-70 to go. My goal overall is to be a size 10-12 and just be happier in my skin. I started out doing Zumba, which I still do 3 days a week but I have added weight training and most recently running. Never thought it was possible for me to run, but holy heck I'm doing it!! Ive take my journey 10lbs at a time. I found for me having smaller goals didn't overwhelm me. Everyone's journey is different and unique just like we all are as people. The best advice I can give you is to track your food as close as possible. Its a huge help. Buy a heart rate minuter with a chest strap to use while exercising, this will track ur calories so u will know exactly what you burn. Start with a form of exercise that is fun and that you enjoy doing. If its fun its easier to stick with and be motivated to do. Zumba was great for me, I love to dance. Even though I couldn't do all the moves at first I stuck with it and I'm amazed at what I can do now. You will be amazed at what your body will be able to do too! You can do this! You are worth it! Ill add you, if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. Id love to help in anyway I can!! Good luck on your journey to the NEW YOU!!!0

Trust me, it can be done! FR sent0

Years ago I was a UK 22 (so US 18) and i got down to a UK 10/12 (US 6/8). I got a bit bigger, up to a US 12/14, went down a couple of sizes for my wedding,. I was a US 12 after my first baby, and had my 2nd 22 months later and was a US 14/16, and now, 16 months later, I am a US 8/10 and aiming to get back to a 6/8. I've got some trousers I bought from Abercrombie and Fitch in 2003 when I went to California, they're a US 8 and they do up now but I have a slight muffin top.
So, yes, you can do it!0 -
Hi!
I'm 5'8". My highest weight was 190lbs and I was a 14 or 16 (US) and XL tops.
Now I am 160.5 and I am a 10 and M tops. The 10s are a little loose but I haven't tried an 8 yet. I would like to end up a 4/6. My goal weight was 145, but now I think it's anywhere from 135-145.0 -
I started out in a 24 but I'm about a 20 now; i recently discovered that 22's are too big :):) I'm 5'4. I'm taking each day a day at a time. Most ppl wld not believe my current weight when they look at what size I'm in, but I'm a "solid" pear shape who carries most her weight in the hips/thighs. If I could drop this, I'd be really doing something LOL
What motivated me to get healthy? I got tired of not being able to fit the clothes in my closet AND really I just want to be healthy for "me". I have a grand dtr I adore and of course my family and loved ones and I CHOOSE to be around along time to enjoy all of them. You can do it :):)
Another motivator...MYFITNESSPAL :):)0 -
I'm quite a bit shorter at 5'3.75". I started at size 20 to 22 and now I'm size 6 to 80
-
When I was 340 pounds I was in a size 26/28 Jeans. And I'm 5'7. Now I'm 212 and I'm in a size 14/16 and I have a couple pairs that are 13/140

You ladies are a d*mn inspiration! To OP:
*Log, log and then log some more. Did you have one peice of shredded cheese? Yup, log it.
*Drink water. Drink so much water that you think you will never stop peeing. That's probably enough.
*Move. You don't have to start running or doing 40 minutes on the elliptical, just move. Walk once around your block and then when you can walk twice. This does multiple things. For those of us who have a lot of weight to lose it is VERY likely that we have some sort of sugar/glucose difficulty. Exercising will even out your blood sugar enabling you to lose more weight. It will boost your metabolism, it will lighten your mood and you'll see results faster which will keep you motivated. In conclusion...move!
You can do this. You can. I know it seems daunting. There are days when you'll get on the scale and think really?!?! I have busted my butt, where is the loss? You'll want to quit but you know what? 3 days later or a week later you'll see it. You can and you will do this!!!!
PS - I went from a 22/24 at my highest to a loose 18 at my lowest during this journey, gained some back so i'm at a 20 right now (and dropping!).0 -
I am 5'6. I started out at 201 lbs and a size 18 in January of 2012. I am now 166 lbs and a size 13/14. depending on brand.0
-
Just put on my first pair of size 14 today. Started at a 24 a little over a year ago.
I don't know how to post photos, but you can check out my profile photos.
The logging makes all the difference in the world. Even when the scale isn't responding the way you'd like it to...keep logging.0 -
I was a size 26, but wearing 24s that were too tight. I am making my way into 22s now. I'm 5'4" and 227. My starting weight was 263. You can see my progress pics here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/753459-12-weeks-progress-pics
I have some 22s that fit me, but some are still a little tight. I expect to fit them comfortably by Halloween. That's my goal.0 -
I was a 24 in late May, and am in an 18 now - after 40lbs loss. I'm quite a bit shorter than you are though0

I have a question - many of you ladies are 5'6" and weigh around 160 and wear sizes 10-14. I am 5'6" and weigh around 158 but I can almost always fit into an 8...what am I missing? Not like I am complaining about wearing smaller sizes0

Haha, funny you just friended me--we are the EXACT SAME. I weight 158 right now, but I'm 5'6" and wear a 10. It's all about where we carry weight. My hips are all wide-set bone--I rarely gain or lose weight from that area. That's why I mentioned pant sizes not ALWAYS being reflective, depending on your body type. I was 5'6" and 95 lbs when I was at my lowest point of anorexia... and I was wearing a 5 IF I WAS LUCKY, but generally a 7 (juniors)... at 158, I wear either an 8 or a 10. That's a pretty big weight difference, but not much of a pant size difference
So, good on everyone where pant sizes was an indicator of progressing health and weight... I'm just here to remind everyone not to get discouraged if your pant sizes DON'T seem to vastly change.0 -
Started out as a size 22-24, and currently in a 12. Hoping to be in an 8 by Christmas!! Been really working hard since January. Good luck!! :flowerforyou:
Edited to say: I'm 5'7".0 -
June 1st, 2012 of this year I was 208#, I am 5' 6" ......................I was so upset and uncomfortable! I wore a size 18W or 20W in slacks. I wore a 1X-2X for blouses.
I did a walk around the hospital campus where I work each am, it's about 1.68 miles. I arrived 45 minutes early, did the walk, then went to work. I did it on my lunch break, same walk. I would arrive back sweaty, worn out, out of breath and mad because I was so uncomfortable just walking. The weight was coming off, but not very fast.
I learned on FB I had a friend from Oregon doing C25K..............I had never run, didn't want to, but decided that it would make a big difference. So I got it in the iPhone app store. C25K Free....................and everything rapidly changed. I am down 35.8 pounds, wearing a size 12 or 14 pant, depending on the cut. (not women's sizes, regular sizes!!!)
My blouses are now a size M or L.................depending. I look better, feel better and love that I am able to do so much more.
The only one that won't recognize that I look better is my husband. He refuses to tell me that I look pretty..........oh, well.......his loss. He says he was not unhappy with me being bigger and if he thinks I look better now then it will make it look like he wasn't happy before...............ok.........................?????????????.........men!!!!0 -
I am 5' 8.5 and I've gone from a TIGHT 24 To a comfortable 18/20. I've got a long ways to go but it's progress nevertheless.0

Thanks for responding! We do seem to have similar body types...even at 10 lbs lighter my pant size was the same!0 -
I am also 5"8 and used to wear size 24. I am now in size 6 pants and around a Medium for tops. Some of my weight loss was prior to joining MFP. You can do this!0

Starting weight: 168

I also agree its about where you carry the weight. I am 158 in an 8 pants. My sister is about 15-20lbs lighter and wears an 8 pants too ... It's cause she has wider hips than me, but she wears a small/extra small top and I couldn't fit one of those to save my life haha0 -

SO jealous! I don't think my body picked clean by vultures would allow me to fit in a size 2! Of course, once I get down more, I may see that as possible. How inspiring even if it's not feasible for me!0 -

I am the same as you. 158lbs in a size 8. It's wear we carry our weight and what we are comfortable in - I like more form fitted.0 -
I went froa24 to an 8 or less depending on the brand. And I am still loosing.0

When I first started, I was 332 pounds and a tight size 24W. I am currently 218 and wear a regular size 16 comfortably, in fact they are getting a little loose. I am 5'11"0
