Good Wednesday Morning!! Got my coffee in hand, ahhhhhh...pumpkin spice, how I've missed you!! :drinker:
Got to the gym yesterday and had a great workout. I cannot believe how much my attitude has changed in the 10 months I've been exercising regularly. I used to be one of those people who absolutely HATED, HATED, HATED anything that would make me sweat. No one hated to exercise more than I did. No. One. Ever. Now, I look forward to my workouts and am actually disappointed when stuff happens and I cannot go. Weird, huh?
So, my nugget for the day is this: If you hate it now, just keep on keepin on, as the old saying goes. Yes, you sweat. Your hair gets messy, your shirt sticks to you, you stink. But as my trainer told me when I started out:"If you leave here looking as good as you did when you arrived, you haven't accomplished a thing." Some good advice. And, by the way, if that's the case, then it's safe to say I've successfully climbed Everest. :glasses:
WELCOME to the newbies; I'm still a newbie to this message board, too. Feel free to add me as a friend. I only have one rule I follow. If you ask for my opinion or advice, you will get the truth; however, they are never given unsolicited.
Happy Hump Day, and don't forget to drink your water!!! :drinker:0 -

Ha! I remember this. My favorite eighties song was "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby. I still listen to it!

Hello all you fab 40's!
Today, I lift.0 -
Hi everyone. I'm 44. After years of being unhappy about pretty much everything in life especially my weight I decided this is the year for a change. Since seeing a pic of myself on Mothers Day I started moving my *kitten* instead of sitting on it. Lost 20 pounds so far and plan on losing a lot more. I'm finally looking forward to happier birthdays in the future. :drinker:0

Started last week using a recovery drink after my lifting days. It has made it so I can feel that I lifted, but I am not in pain. I guess it is a change I will keep.
Happy Wednesday to all. Only 4 days until my Half marathon0 -

but there were sooo many that I liked!!0 -
Hiya all cool kids!!
Love that we have many more on the board and some regular posters too!!
Redlady - great job getting your 5miles in!!
Jules - some great advice from your trainer. I know when I finish my insanity workouts - I am all of those things - messy, wet hair, shirt is soaked, I stink, face is flushed and my entire body feels slimy from sweat. Oh, and I am usually on my hands and knees cause I am so whipped, I can barely stand up.
Thanks for the reminder - gotta drink my water. I get carried away and focus on my coffee.
Scribb, glad the recovery drink is working for you. It does help!
Good luck on your half this weekend. So exciting!!
I lifted yesterday and am happy to say my *kitten* is feeling it today. Finally! I've been doing the NROL4W for a few weeks now and have not really felt any soreness from it. Even today, not so sore that I can't move, but I could certainly feel my butt as I walked up my stairs this morning. I think I need to lift a little heavier.
Lifting again today - playing catch up. Hope to run as well. We'll see. Hubby is home today, so......0 -
Ok, just found this thread. Not sure if I'm cool enough to hang with this crowd, though. I'm 48, and am back on MFP after being off for about a year. I've been under the weather about a week, but am hoping to get in some running or some time on the bike trainer tonight. Any triathletes here? I also swim.0

Hello FAB 40's+!!
Today I did my first B work-out in Stage 5 of NROL4W. With only 4 reps per set, it just feels like DREAM-LAND. I like it very much!!
What does NROL4W stand for?0 -

New Rules of Lifting for Women0 -
Continuing on with my half marathon training. Ran about 10 miles yesterday. Felt good and it helped that it became a night run. Sun was setting when I headed out and was still about 80 degrees. Cooled down nicely. Unfortunately, my phone app for tracking died so I am only able to estimate that I ran about 10 miles. First time at this distance in 19 years.0
-
hamncheese - well, that's pretty damn good if you haven't done it in 19 years! congrats!
sdereski - YAY that you are feeling "sore" - yes, you probably need to increase the WEIGHTS!
On Friday, I'll be halfway through Phase 2 of NROL4Abs, already! This program is moving FAST!
And, I've lost 4 lbs since Sept. 19th, so my nutrition plan (intermittent fasting) seems to be working for me, too.
I'm going to finish out 2012 with a BOOM!0 -
