meat is all high protein and low carb - eat that meat!!

I also supplement with protein shakes (water only, no milk!) and protein bars - although my protein bars have more carb count in them than I would like.

Roast beef is very high and so is tuna fish.

I find that I still need a shake or two to meet or exceed my Protein for the day

Where is everybody? Why do you posters pop in here, give your introduction, and then *POOF*, never to be heard from, again?????????????

    Why do you do that????????????

PS - to the regular posters, PLEASE ignore the above-2-sentences.
  • Maybe we're shy ;^)
I did my 3rd run of week 1 C25K so will try week 2 in the morning
(at 230lbs and very unfit I'm determined to whip myself back into shape)

Only just found this group despite being on mfp for a few months! Where were you all hiding?

My 3 kids and too many to count step kids tell me I'm cool enough to take them shopping, and dish out money etc, but not cool enough to pick them up from school in my apparently embarrasing car.

I run most days either outside or on the treadmill, and I'm secretly hoping that eventually I'll be able to run to work once in a while instead of driving which will be about half marathon distance.
I'm also working out at the gym (weights and cardio) although that's only been for the past month really (but I am now addicted).

Just need to get a grip on the emotional eating now.

58 here and LOVING it right now. More active and having more fun than I have in years. My son got his "cool" old mom a great bike for her birthday! Now I ride or lift at least 5 days a week. Roll on - they are going to have to pull me kicking and screaming into "act your age" land - Lol

You can do it!! At Easter I was 211 and a couch potato that got winded on 2 flights of stairs. size 18-20. I feel GREAT at halloween, am 52 pounds lighter, and am in a 10. Best of all I feel SO much more alive. You can do this.

Happy Friday, y'all!! It's a balmy and humid 76 degree day here in SC!! :glasses:

Beeps and Scribb: thanks for the protein references. I guess, specifically, I'm asking for a recommendation for some shakes or bars that I don't gag on trying to get down.
I do eat meat, mostly chicken and turkey because I try to limit my intake of red meat and pork; and I don't like fish (I will eat tuna). :indifferent:
I'm just trying to branch out a little, seeing if there is something besides meat where I can meet my macro requirements. Thanks for the suggestions, and any more anyone has is appreciated!! :flowerforyou:

Gonna get to the gym today for my fourth and final workout of the week. Working tomorrow (ugh), but next weekend will be a blast as I am headed to the Great Smokies!! Yay for vacay!!

    * Edited because even with spellcheck I apparently suck at typing!
  • Well I did 45 minutes on the step mill this morning, and did 15 minutes of leg exercises on the weight machines. I consider 45 minutes of cardio to be my bare minimum.

I wore a pair of size 2 Gap jeans to work today, and managed to camouflage 1/2" of muffin top. I still would like to lose 19 lbs. and get rid of the muffin top.

Jules, yikes, if you don't eat fish, pork or beef, yep, getting in protein (without being bored!) would be very tough. Because I do all the menu-planning for my family, I make sure we have a really good variety! We eat all types of meat....probably chicken more than anything else. For shakes, I actually just use the whey protein shake mix from costco. It's cheap and it's 35g of protein in one shake!

    erin - great work-out!

I'm going to go and lift, today. Mostly lower-body work since my neck/shoulder/back is still hurting. But, I can do squats and lunges and step-ups. Fun, fun, fun (not!).

I'm 51... my 17 year old daughter and her friends seem to think I'm cool. I also think my daughter is cool - we hang together quite a bit, go to concerts and such. (We actually went on a double date due to some unlikely extenuating circumstances.... I don't recommend this!) We somehow got past the "Daaad, you're embarrassing me!" stage quickly.

I'm re-single, as of a couple of years ago, and I like to go out dancing at various clubs in my area (Venice and Marina del Rey CA) with the rest of the "cool kids", regardless of their ages... and I'm certainly not the oldest of the folks I see out and about :-) Nice feature of living in this particular part of LA. I'm frequently asked to dance by "age inappropriate" women, who seem to think I might be cool. Guess I've fooled them! But it's nice to be asked, I must admit. (NSV!)

The number of posts in the other thread was daunting! So I will join you here.

Me: 44 years old, trying to get back to the weight I was in my mid 30s, before pregnancy and aging got the better of me. 5'9", at my heaviest I was about 85 kilos (187 pounds) now 72 kilos (157 pounds). Have lost the past five kilos on MFP

My reason is not just vanity, but also to try and slow down the inevitable bone density and circulation issues we all face eventually. My mum is living with chronic heart failure - and I don't really want that to be me in 30 years.

    Only four kilos left!

Look forward to getting to "know" you all.
