Bump (this should be a sticky post, methinks.)

It is referenced on page one in my http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/23912-links-in-mfp-you-want-to-read-again-and-again

...and it is also referenced on page one in http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10665-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition
    (Both of which ARE sticky!!)

Flip through all the pages on the "Links" one, I continually add on new threads. It's not all just a bunch of "bumps"

Thanks... I'm on level 2, and going to Cuba in 4 weeks... Guess I'm gonna have to accept that I'll be a little bit chubby on the beach this year :ohwell: seems there is no quick fix or easy way out of this
Thanks for all the infos you provide :flowerforyou:

Looks like it's time for a bump on this one.

So much discouragement/unrealistic expectations on the boards lately. I blame the BL.

This was very helpful! I am "stuck" around phase 4 and 5. I was starting to second guess what I am eating or how I am excercising! I am committed, I am all in!!!!! Thanks for the detailed explanation!

  • Thanks hun! I am new to the site so it was nice to get some info from a pro! I am somewhere on stage 5 . I started changing my life style abou10 months ago. I started at 254lbs and now at 212. Its amazing how much alot of water and going to the pool 5 days a week helped! I am now raising my goals to lose more ! You info has been a god sent to help me keep it up! Thanks!

Awesome post, thanks for the motivation and encouragement :)

i personally am a little different in stage 1 i guess, ive been at this for 2 weeks so far and i have only lost 2 lbs.. rather than the 4-8 lbs you said to expect. but my coach mentioned that everyone is different and sometimes our bodies does weird things to adapt to sudden changes in eating habit and acitivity levels.

It's true, while the majority of people will experience dramatic weight loss at the very beginning followed by a significant drop off, there is a smaller subset that will experience little or no weight loss at the start that leads either to more steady weight loss throughout, or higher loss later on down the road. This can happen for a variety of reasons, but just know that while the steps may not fit you exactly, the concept that you need to fit the program to your body still holds true. Best luck to you!

I lost 4-5 pounds the first week and I KNOW it was water weight. I used to eat high-sodium, and NEVER drank water, just lots and lots of diet coke and coffee with lots of splenda! I felt bloated ALL the time.

I cut back to one coffee a day, NO splenda, and very little soda if any, dropped 4 pounds in 5 days. And I FEEL way better because I'm drinking water now!

I'm at the end of my second week and haven't lost any more, but I haven't had a cigarette in a week and feel more energetic and just "better" in general.
