I found a pin of Bob Harper’s 20 “skinny rules.”
The Skinny Rules
1) Drink a large glass of water before every meal - no excuses.
2) Don't drink your calories.
3) Eat protein at every meal or stay hungry and grouchy.
4) Slash your intake of refined flours and grains.
5) Eat 30 to 50 grams of fiber a day.
6) Eat apples and berries every single day. Every single day. Single day!
7) No carbs after lunch.
8) Learn to read food labels so you know what you are eating.
9) Stop guessing about portion size and get it right - for good.
10) No more added sweeteners, including artificial ones.
11) Get rid of those white potatoes.
12) Make one day a week meatless.
13) Get rid of fast foods and fried foods.
14) Eat a REAL breakfast.
15) Make your own food and eat at least ten meals a week from home
16) Banish high-salt foods.
17) Eat your veggies - JUST DO IT!
18) Go to bed hungry!!!
19) Sleep right.
20) Plan one splurge meal a week if you must. .

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I believe that you must have a set of rules if you want to "not eat MORE calories than your body uses" such as counting calories, looking beind food labels to see what are the calories, minimizing highly processed and sugary items and increasing vegetables and fruits...There are always rules.0 -

The fibre bit really helps. It just forces you to eat lots of fruit, veg, wholegrains and pulses, no way you can do it otherwise. So you are so focussed on getting more and more fibre, you're thinking about what you put in, rather than what you take out. And when you're trying to lose weight, it's nice to have a food rule that is about "more" not "less".0

I disagree with a some of these, and agree with many of them. At the end of the day, maintaining weight is about calories.
There's no evidence eating carbs after lunch will go to your thighs more than carbs in the morning.
Although some artificial sweeteners are linked to weight gain, Truvia (stevia derived extract) is not.
Going to bed hungry doesn't help me to sleep.
Avoiding high salt is good if you have high blood pressure or concerns about water retention, but what about someone like me - who has a blood pressure of of 92 / 65 ? Doesn't seem to matter.
Definitely can vouch for the protein at every meal, and whole grains / fiber.0 -

Most of these 'rules' or recommendations are what your will find in New Zealands Heart Foundation booklet 'Heart Healthy Eating.' Aimed at the general population to gain and maintain and healthy heart and body. I use this resource every day for patients/clients at work needing to loose weight or improve their diets for health reasons. It's availiable online if anyone is interested.0

Thats a whole ton of fiber im fitting into the hours of 9am and 3pm. Am I supposed to be chomping on a phyllum husk or something? Also what exactly is a REAL breakfast? Other than that there are some good ones, eating fruit and getting fiber are obviously positives that people trying to lose weight sometimes forget about.0

Not attacking you - these are not your 'rules' - but most of these are not necessary for weight loss, especially if you are logging your food.
My rules:
Rule 1: Eat at a reasonable calorie deficit with mostly nutritious foods
Rule 2: Hit your macros for body composition (protein) and health (fats) reasons
Rule 3: Strength train
Rule 4: Sleep
Rule 5: Eat ice-cream every night0 -
I have a few simple rules of my own:
1) Eat wholegrain instead of refined whenever possible
2) Avoid processed food
3) Don't eat too much - if you start feeling full, STOP EATING
4) Drink water when thirsty
It's all about balance, and you should not try to live a lifestyle that you don't enjoy, because in the long run it won't work. I follow these rules rather closely, but enjoy breaking them once or twice a week (mainly involving beer and pub food).0 -

To lose weight its simple!
Eat at a slight deficit from TDEE.
Lift weights 2-4x a week.
Walk.
PS most of my weight was lost eating a bowl of cereal in bed every night (2-3 cups worth).0 -
