I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah0 -
Yes, it's very vague and ambiguous when a poem explicitly says Jesus about ten times, ends with, "Bring God back into schools," and is about a tragedy that occurred in a country where the debate of "religion vs. secularism" in schools happens on a daily basis, is violated very often, and is enough of an issue to warrant this entire thread.
"Politically correct," yes, that's definitely what I'm called on a daily basis.0 -
If you're holding up the Westboro Baptist Church as being representative of Christians then you don't know who Christians are.
Most "Christians" do not know who Christians are. I spent many years in the various branches of organized Christianity. All I found were buildings full of like-minded overzealous hypocrites who occasionally spoke in tongues or held firm to beliefs that they, themselves did not follow. Who outcast those who were different. Who cast more shame and judgement than I have ever found OUTSIDE those cross adorned walls.0 -
Quick somebody talk about fish tacos (by the way that is an euphemism), nut butter (which is of course another euphemism), anything - please, just shut this down.0

I'll tell ya, if you give a mouse a cookie...
I'm curious.
What happens if you give a mouse a cookie?
It is going to make me crazy until I find out.
it will drink milk
from a plate
at the market
in an unnamed Arab country
Thank you , I feel so much better now tha I know! :drinker:0 -
Saw this on Facebook and shared... I love it! Keep CHRIST in Christmas! And also get him back in the Schools!!!
Christmas started as a pagan holiday
christmas actually has NOTHING to do with christ
did you know that?
I'm an atheist, but I disagree with you. Christmas has everything to do with Christ to people who choose to celebrate it that way. To me, it has nothing to do with Christ. It doesn't matter that it used to be a pagan holiday.
ETA: Trying to make someone else celebrate it your way is not ok.
Actually no.

The word "Christmas"itself reveals who married paganism to Christianity.
The word "Christmas" is a combination of the words "Christ" and "Mass.
The word "Mass" means death and was coined originally by the Roman Catholic Church, and belongs exclusively to the church of Rome.
The ritual of the Mass involves the death of Christ, and the distribution of the "Host", a word taken from the Latin word "hostiall" meaning victim!
In short, Christmas is strictly a Roman Catholic word.
As for the OP... Yeah... this shouldn't be on the main forum... sorry but I do not think it is good.0 -

:grumble: My brain had just about gotten back to normal (normal for me anyways, lol) and now another riddle. My head hurts.
So what does a moose do with a muffin?0 -
People are being extra mean today.
This is beautiful.
No. People are taking rightful offense at how dismissive this poem is. It's implicitly saying this tragedy would not have happened if "God was in schools." Oh, now we're in a "divisive" topic, forbidden on main MFP forums, which every person who's said, "This is great," should very well know. Plus, you know, this is essentially political, as well, because of the First Amendment, the Treaty of Tripoli, and all other precedents that highlight the separation of church and state in the US... that's a divisive topic, too.
I've said my peace. Return to menus plz. I am a food voyeur.
Joo naughty naughty Food Voyeur you. :bigsmile:0 -

Now, If you give a pig a pancake....its cause he wants it!

Not sure which war it came from. It is said: THERE ARE NO ATHEISTS IN FOX HOLES....and yes I am yelling!
There are atheist soldiers. And they are just as dignified as the religious ones. Google "atheists in foxholes" and take a look at the 2nd hit to read more about some of these soldiers and their experiences.0 -
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah0 -

Why is it that this can't be shared? the people who like it can like and those who don't, don't? It may be religous and it may not, those who find the main theme godly can either like or not like it. There seems to be a constant theme that no one wants someone else to tell them how to feel or think so can't we just let it go and the people who like this can like it and those who don't can move on to the next topic that pisses them off? I get that some don't have anything better to do but if you believe in god or not you may like this and it should be shared if you do. If you don't like it just keep on moving! I don't understand why this is considered offensive and people shout it out loud, yet most of those shout outs are pretty rude and offensive!
People can only be offended if they choose to be offended. Fact of the matter is some people just can't handle the fact that others may have a different opinion than them. Lets try something new. IF YOU DON"T LIKE A POST MOVE ON TO ONE YOU LIKE. Then no one can be offended.0 -
An honest and respectful observation, because I've read this poem before on Facebook, and until the last two lines, I was deeply touched, it's a beautiful, restorative image - and I am a non-Christian.
But to end with 'my nation and my schools', turns it in a direction it needn't go. This is a country for all religions, and our public schools, though in need of great help and repair, are just that - for the entire public, Christian or otherwise.
To the OP - thanks still for posting it; we can't have enough of these things in the wake of such an unfathomable tragedy,0 -

On a serious note I just want to say, if you want your God in your school, go to a private school, or send your children to a private school. Just because it is your God, doesn't make it mine or my childrens.
Blessed Be!0 -
I am so craving a nice philly cheesesteak sandwich right now!0

Now I feel dumb for posting what I did in the Do You Hate Grapefruit thread. I should have read this first. Duh.0

Dear Posters,
I wanted to offer a brief explanation for the locking of this thread.
The forum guidelines include this item:
15. Divisive Topics Are Better Suited For Groups, Not the Main Forums
Divisive topics, particularly those that seek input from or are relevant only to a select group of users, are better placed within an appropriate Group rather than the Main Forums. For example, topics relevant to only one religion should not be placed on the main forums but rather within a group related to that religion. We reserve the right to move any topic to a relevant public Group which interested members may join if they wish to continue to participate.
2. No Hi-Jacking Topics
Please stay on-topic within a forum topic. Off-topic or derogatory remarks are disrespectful. Please either contribute politely and constructively to a topic, or move on without posting. This includes posts that encourage the drama in a topic to escalate.
In many cases we are able to edit out the posts that violate this guideline, but unfortunately this particular thread has become too volatile to moderate efficiently.
If you would like to review the forum guidelines, please visit the following link:

At our discretion, this locked thread may be deleted entirely in the near future.
With respect,
Scott
