    If I forgot to bring a lunch, going home to make something is not option at that time and I'm super hungry then ill go to subway. It happens once every couple of months!

    This thread is ridiculous. This is why I avoid F&N topics like the plague. People believe on so much false information that they make lodging weight a losing proposition. They make it so difficult that people give up after a few weeks. Sodium doesn't make you fat. Processed food doesn't make you fat. Fat doesn't make you fat. Stay under calories and hit your macros. it's so damn easy.

    at most once a week. we have one in our university so I prefer to have that rather than the other food they sell on campus.

    When I have to...no more. Probably once every other month.

    I prefer Chipotle bowls...but Subway does have decent reasonable calorie options.

    Subway is way down the list. I'd much rather eat at D'Angelo (best part of living in New England,) Chipotle, Taco Bell, or a local deli.

    I am Jared to our east and west side locations here in my home town. I eat there about once a week these days but through 300 lbs. of my weight loss I was eating there atleast once a day for one of my meals, sometimes twice. Normally buffalo chicken or turkey and black forest ham and I for one was not put off by the price (5 bucks for a footlong sub). As far as the sodium, never tracked I single gram ever (never worried about it, no hypertension so I didn't see the point) Just drank over 125 oz. of water daily... These days my meal plan has changed, eating alot bigger variety of foods so don't venture there as often but still get a craving for my Buffalo chicken sub loaded with veggies... Enjoy!!

    That's an ignorant thing to say. If it were that simple then people wouldn't be fat in the first place. A 12 inch sub from Subway can easily contain 1/2 your RDA of sodium. Most people don't know that. So at the end of the day you can consume double your RDA without knowing. Of course that's only for those who care about their sodium intake.
    It's more than just staying under calories and hitting macros. A carb is more than just a carb and a fat is more than just a fat. Where your carbs and fats come from is just as important as the amount. If you are OK with eating meat pressed together from turkey by products then good for you. Give others the chance to find out make their own decisions,

    I eat there about twice a month. If you like subway and what you order fits you calories, then go ahead.
  • Here's my problem with subway, I'll go and a few bites in I'm happy and my sandwich tastes pretty good, but then I get a few more bites in and my sandwich is gone. It's not nearly enough food for me. I could eat like 4-5 of them before I stopped being hungry and probably 7-8 before I got full. I'd rather make some lower calorie stuff at home and eat a lot more food for the same number of calories.
  • Big Subway fan here, I love Turkey & Ham on wheat bread with sweet onion or bbq sauce.

    Practically never... I think they use inferior quality ingredients and their sandwiches taste like they came from a gas station pre-packaged deli.

    There is subway right next to my job, I haven't ate there since I started tracking my food. SUBWAY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

    I know nothing of the Gregg thing but I've sure as hell kicked my body hard in the past, I could get away with it then too ....

    I way prefer to prepare my food at home these days, sure you can lose weight eating anything but it doesn't compare to knowing what is in there.

    But hey, Subway can work in context, etc ...

    They have a location down in Tampa, and I still remember that place.

    I eat there twice a month at least. There is one close to my house too. I usually get the same. Six-inch turkey. It hasn't interfered with my weight loss at all. It is one of the healthier options in fast food.

    Bread is supposed to have like 5 ingredients, but at Subway you get a whopping 50 INGREDIENTS!!

    I find that Subway is a great alternative to fast food without blowing your diet. I love the double chicken chopped salad, they are amazing. Of coure, my favorite is meatball but that is a no-no. Buffalo chicken is also low and very good , I like the flatbreads.:flowerforyou:

    I like subways. I eat it 2-3x a mth . Grilled chicken on wheat no cheese. With all veg. No dressing. Very Gd protein.

    Meats I agree with... But I don`t eat meat so it`s not an issue. However, you buy deli meats in the store and have the same issues unless you pay the higher prices for the nitrate free alteratives.

    Have you checked the labels of any jarred banana peppers or olives? I bet you would see artificial colouring.

    Checked the label of bread lately? More than 5 ingredients. If you make the bread yourself most of the time there is more than 5 ingredients.


    I realize everyone has their own opinions however I'm not sure why so many people think it's such a terrible place to eat. I'm sure these people are eating much worse if they opened their food diaries. Pita Pit while a great place to go is more expensive and filled with the same stuff that Subway would use.

    Sure, there is a lot of sodium in the foods... there is sodium in everything. Buy the stuff to make a sub at home? You will be loading it with sodium and the same sort of "crap" from Subway.

    Subway can be a very healthy place to eat, you just need to be careful with what you order. Sure, ordering a double meat and cheese sub isn't healthy. I order a veggie sub when I go. A little bit of grated cheese, tons of veggies, pepper and no sauce... that makes a pretty healthy lunch or dinner.

    I'm not sure if the US is different however here each location is owned by different people and are run differently. Some locations won't go into. There are a few I will frequent as I know how they prepare the foods, clean the restaurant, etc.
  • Probably 3-4 times a month. There are times when you are busy, traveling or just can't cook at home and a fast food joint is convenient. Subway is my choice and their calorie counter on their website helps to be sure you stay within the levels that work for you. We must have a well kept, clean and sanitary Subway cause I've never experienced some of these negative comments. :laugh:
  • I eat there maybe twice a month or so. Maybe it's true you could make a healthier sandwich at home for less money, but I guess it really depends on the circumstances at the moment. Subway is better for you than other fast food (no doubt about it). I'm a fan of the buffalo chicken, but will probably switch to turkey or tuna once I get back on track from the holiday food.

    DH and I just shared a tuna sub from there yesterday. We usually have it a couple of times a month. I agree that if you don't have a sodium issue and eat within your calories you can easily fit it into your diet.
