I burned 800 calories once, it was really hard todo! I spent an hour doing cardio machines then lifted weights then went back to the gym later that day!0

Have you tried Insanity yet????? It'll get you there......0

RUNNING. I weigh 142 and burn 100 calories for each mile i run (about).0

I weigh 204 right now, but when I run, I burn about 550 calories in 30 minutes! At least, that's what my HRM says. Running generally keeps my heartrate in the 180-190bpm range (I'm 25 & seem to have a higher than average max heartrate - I'm breathing pretty comfortably at 180-5). So, that's how I can pretty easily burn around 700-800 cals in 45 minutes or so.0

Elliptical!....I have been able to burn 815 calories in 62 minutes on resistance level 3......makes you feel great!0

I weigh 195lbs and I get a 700+ calories burn by doing spin class or just straight hard cardio for an hour +, it is hard but it is so great to see that big of a number!!0

I weigh 153 lbs. and burn 700 calories riding my bike around our slightly hilly city in the northeast for 70 minutes. I burned 960 yesterday riding for an hour and 45 minutes. 25 minutes of strength training and 40 minutes of interval walking usually burns around 600 for me.0

It definitely depends on your weight- a 150 lb person uses much less energy to move than a 250 lb person.
I weigh 125-128 and getting in 300-400 cals on a regular workout is great for me, but for someone heavier it would be a walk in the park0 -

Yeah I agree.
And that day I did 800 calories, it was multiple hours and sessions! I only did it once because that night I thought I was going to die!!!!0 -
I posted this earlier today and just wanted to share it here! It's a great article called "Why Cardio Alone Doesn't Cut Fat": http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/why-cardio-alone-doesnt-cut-fat/
I weigh 160 and usually can burn 300 calories in a half hour on the elliptical. If I have the time (like last night while watching baseball at the gym), I do 30-60 minutes of cardio, some circuit training, and then lift.
Be sure you're eating your exercise calories! :-)0 -
I burn about 650 during an hour of spin and 750 during 75 min of zumba - according to my HRM even more if I really push harder/up my tension....
I'm 214 lbs0 -
I currently weigh about 170- I burn 800+ calories regularly (about 3-4 days a week). I've found that wearing my HRM ensures that I am really able to gauge how hard I am making my body work and it keeps me in the zone. In a 60 min. workout I would say that I never let my heart rate fall below 75% and for at least 40 minutes I make sure to keep it between 85-90%. Whichever machine I'm working on I just make sure to increase resistance and/or speed if I see that my HR is lagging a bit. It's good way to get your heart rate up that I've found are sprints, that is usually a good kick start on the days that my heart rate doesn't seem to want to increase. Doing this also constantly ensures that I continue to challenge myself with each and every workout.
Hope this is helpful- best of luck to you!0 -
How do you calculate the number of calories burned during spin class?0

wow i thought i was doing great with 123 on the wii fit

I usually burn 800-900 calories per step class. I weight around 169lb.0

I am 5'5", 134lbs. I normally spend an hour strength training and approximately 55 minutes equally with the elliptical and treadmill. My normal calorie burn is between 750 and 830, total for the whole workout .0

I use a step as I watch tv, just step up step down. if I watch for 2 hours I can burn about 750-1000 calories. I weigh 150 ish0

I have a trainer and he works me high intensity. Here's a typical workout, hope it helps!
10 minute warm up, either quick on elliptical or running on treadmill
Do 1 minute intervals of each:
Squats
push-ups
chest press (I use 15 lb weights) on stability ball
shoulder press on stability ball
Tricep press (use the edge of a bench, hands on bench, use arms to lower yourself while in a sitting position)
2 minute rest
sumo squats
walking lunges - 2 minutes of this
jumping jacks
bicycle crunches
1/2 plank
2 minute rest
repeat circuits 1 and 2 at 30 sec intervals instead of at 1 minute
1 minute sprints at 6.5-7 (run 1 full minute, walk 1 minute, repeat about 5x)
I'll often run a mile after my sprints
Good luck!0 -
So multiple hours and multiple workouts ?
For me that's what it takes...I can burn 700 calories in an hour on the awesome Arctrainer machine, but I don't usually get out to the one gym that has them. 650 is my max on the elliptical..I weigh 145 and that's an hour at level 7 average (I mix it up to build strength). I can only get about 450 in an hour on a treadmill, same on the stairmaster. Which baffles me to no end because the stairmaster is sooooo hard and I sweat buckets!0 -
I play roller derby and burn 700+ cals at each practice.. it's an amazing workout!0
-
I can burn anywhere from 600+ in my Zumba class. I am an instructor. So it all depends on how much you put into it. I know when I do my circuit training, if I push myself to add more weight (ya know really push myself), I burn more calories.
oh and i weigh 241.0 -
oh and I started taking a kickboxing class and that is a WONDERFUL workout!!!0
-
I weigh 189lbs - so when I do 30 mins on the eliptical and 30 mins run, I will burn around 720 calories
However the amount I burn depends on how hard I push myself. I monitor my heart rate throughout - so my heart rate sits between 156-171 for most of my workout
I think you need to think about how much you weigh in the first instance - and then look at the excercises you do! You will find the right combination, and remember its not all about burning 700 calories - last night I swam for 53 minutes - I only burnt 560 calories - but I felt really good and lean and variety helps your body to kick start the wieght loss for you!
Hope this helps0 -
Running burns more for me than anything else I do.0

Your size has everything to do with it. The smaller I get, the less calories I use.0
