I made a witty response to a post this morning and it went into the ether. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was actually a halfwit post, :blushing: and I'm glad it fell off the thread.

THE FOG HAS LIFTED! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I hope it stays away. We have glorious sunshine outside and I took the dog for a walk. There were two men working on cleaning up a trail that goes up the hill at the end of my street and I stopped to thank them. I'm grateful to them for their hard work and I wish I'd thought of a service project for today.

I totally forgot that the Y was closed today for the MLK holiday. Rats! I guess I'll walk in circles here at home while I wait for dinner to finish up. I did 60 push ups at work today, tho -- in increments of 20, using the rail in the handicapped stall in the ladies room on my visits. Can't recall who originally posted that, but I like it. Our suite is almost directly across from the ladies room on the second floor, but I think I will start returning to the office from there by walking downstairs, to the other end of the building, and then back upstairs to add some steps.

I have a granddaughter and pictures of her walking my dog (actually visa-versa). It was so cute it drew a lot of attention. He's a good boy and she loved taking him for walks. They went wherever I told HIM to go. A good dog is a blessing.

Gail - By getting another king bed, that'll mean you'll only need one size sheets

Will quickly skim thru the posts. Did 20 minutes of yoga this morning then 50 min of the extremepump class. This afternoon I went to one gals house to play Rummy-O (or is it called Rummikub?), barely got home in time to make dinner then off to play mahjongg, just got home. Tomorrow I'll do Denise Austin's Boot Camp DVD.

Genda _ I have such respect for people who go snowshoeing. I've never done that but it's something that I think I'd like to try (maybe)

Sandy - thanks for the link. I printed out the recipe. Gotta think if maybe there's something that I can use instead of the refrigerated dinner roll dough, tho.

Lucy from DE - oh, I hope they do waive the fee for you

ohiomomof2 - we're always on call for our children, huh? You did well at KFC

Gail - you Y was closed?????

Well, I told you this would be short. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Just came across this acrostic and wanted to share:

    EAT LESS CRAP:

    C-carbonated drinks
    R-refined sugars
    A-artificial sweeteners and colors
    P-processed foods

    EAT MORE FOOD:

    F-fruit and vegetables
    O-organic lean protein
    O-omega 3 fatty acids
    D-drink water

The more I am paying attention to my body, the more I realize just how true that is!

Hi everyone, just checking in for a really short post.

Linda Sundance - so glad your day went well, 3 more and you are the boss of you again at home.
Robin - enjoy your vacation - you certainly deserve it!
Lucy - so sorry to hear about your loss. Treasure your MIL.
Lin C - I live close to Nelson - when are your sister and niece moving here?
Cheryl – I have a Norwegian Silver Fox jacket and I am too self-conscious to wear it in case someone throws red paint at me.
Jane M – love the new baby pic.
LoriH – I agree totally about the benefits of Renny’s challenge. I am so much more conscious of how much fruit and veg I eat now (I actually had a more fruit deficit than veggies).
Renny – happy great aunt day!
DeeDee – I think my computer read your post – it just shut down and me and I had to reboot it. Quit giving it ideas.
555555555555 (just a little post courtesy of Mookers the Cat)

Time to go get some ZZZZs – lots of stuff to get done tomorrow

Wishing you all a great day tomorrow ladies

My grandson came to visit last year when he was 2. We had quite a bit of rain and went out and bought him rain boots. We went for a walk and the first puddle he came to he walked around it. I made him go back and stomp through it. I would have NEVER done that with my kids. I had 3 under the age of 2 and was cranky all the time. Trying to make up for it now. :D And now I have 3 grandchildren and life is wonderful!

I'm going to try my very first Zumba class today. I am so excited and went to the exercise part to see how many calories I could burn and Zumba was not there under cardio. Does anyone else do Zumba? How do you count the calories?

Michele - yes, the Y was closed. They close on most federal holidays and on the 3-day weekend ones often use that weekend to refinish the gym floor, reconfigure the exercise equipment, etc.

I walked around the house instead, which is something I did after the heart surgery when I wasn't able to drive. That led me to overflowing gratitude for the good surgeon, great caregivers, etrc. and it reminded me of just how far I've come in recovering my endurance. Feeling blessed beyond measure!

    Have a great day....

    Hello and happy Tuesday –

Tuesday??? :noway: What happened to Monday??? Oh well….

Yesterday (that was Monday) I woke up feeling depressingly, sadly, bleakly uninspired about the world in general. :indifferent: Whined to my DH about it. Turned on the radio and learned that, statistically, it's the day the most of North America is depressed. "Blue Monday". Our Christmas Visa bills are due, we've broken our New Year's resolutions, it's months 'til the next long holiday and it's cold outside, and dark. Oh dear. I can't even be uniquely depressed. That made me laugh, which cheered up my day immensely. Got to work and had fun.

Deb A – I do interval running too – 2 minutes hard running followed by 3 minutes brisk walk – repeat 8 times. Add a 10 minute warm-up and a 10 minute cool down = an hour of fun. It’s my favorite workout. I think I will take your specialist’s advice and add the protein afterwards too.

Sunshine – you don’t have to run. Do anything that raises your heart-rate so you’re feeling like it’s a big effort, keep it up for 30 seconds, then relax and walk for two minutes. Repeat. You could be doing anything – elliptical, swim, bike, walk, whatever.

M – congratulations (sort of) :ohwell: on your reaction to the sticky-buns. Not the negative physical reaction, but the positive mental reaction.

Wow, Renny, what fun to have all those new babies in the family.

Robin – it seems like yesterday you were telling us about Olivia’s birth! So fun to think of you off to Vegas to celebrate her first year. An then Kauai – what a great think to look forward to.

Eileen near San Diego – what do you teach? I think it must be secondary school because you’re doing report cards. I teach grade 7, which is still elementary school here. No report cards until March! Whew!

SueBDew, I like the idea of an ap that tracks my walks – I think I’ll download it. I’m weak about walking in winter, though, so there won’t be many times to use it until spring comes and takes the snow away.

I have a heart rate monitor and I really think it’s the only accurate way to count calories burned. Most of the estimates in MFP or on the exercise machines are for folks who are heavier than I am, so the counts are always over the top for me.

Well done, Ohiomom, in keeping to the low calorie end of the KFC menu. :flowerforyou: How sad that there are no better options close to the school. Even a Subway or a Dairyqueen could sell you a salad.

Kate – pull on the rainbow cloak.:drinker: It’s winter in the deep, dark north and you need all the sparkle you can get!

Lin C – you and Lila and I should have an MFP party!

Joy – Sunshine – have fun at Zumba. I recommend a heart rate monitor – you’ll always know your calorie count.

    Hasta pronto,

    Nancy in SE British Columbia

Man, I'm SOOOO tired. Zumba class this morning and then a 4 mile walk in -6 weather ... too tired to even fix dinner. Good thing we still have left over chili in the frig. I think I'll just heat that up. On a bad note, our hot water heater is not working. COLD showers. The landlord came to look at it and decided they need to replace it but it's in the bathroom wall, which means they need to take the wall out. They are going to do that next week while we are in Rome but cold showers until then since it's going to be a huge project. She came back to get the keys and bought me a 1000g box of CHOCOLATE!!!! Maybe that's why I'm tired .... sugar rush. Any way, I weighed it out (ate 50 grams) and hubby is taking the box to bible study tonight. It is currently sitting outside the front door because every time I looked at it, I ate a piece. :grumble:
