    Flaming Lips.

Seen them twice. They always know how to put on a show.

First time I saw them they covered Dark Side of the Moon and it was brilliant. MONEY EVERYWHERE! And you know it's a good show when all the members walk out of a giant vagina to start the show.

Second time I was not in the best mindset...er...so it's a little fuzzy. But I remember a giant smile plastered on my face the entire time.

Yep, the Lips are always great.
We saw them play at Jodrell Bank Telescope 2 summers ago - it was amazing seeing their projections on the huge dish of the telescope with all the balloons and tinsel blowing about!
    MAGIC!

    Best gigs of last year:
Dirty Projectors at Gorilla in Manchester (tiny venue, great performance)
Patti Smith at Academy in Manchester - she totally rocked!

Also rate The Walkmen at the Filmore San Francisco 2 years ago - end of a great holiday in the US, very special venue and their performance of 'In the New Year' sent shivers up my spine.

    copying my previous posts.
sorry, going to copy my reply from the previous thread, but I'd like to add the 999 show at the West Catty Playground and Bauhaus with Daniel Ash.

The 2nd Lollapalooza - Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush, Jim Rose Circus, Porno for Pyros, Basehead, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Seaweed, Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E., Stone Temple Pilots, The Vulgar Boatmen, Rage Against the Machine + many more............

1992 in Orlando, FL... during an evacuation of the state for Hurricane Andrew, Eddie Vedder climbing to the top of the scaffolding......and the best part? It was the first time I saw Lush.

    * wait! My Bloody Valentine was good too. But maybe I like the CD better? hmmm.....this is hard.
** wait again... I think I liked Tom Verlaine better.

    Great list!
Tickets for My Bloody Valentine at Manchester Apollo in March booked...
.... wondering if it will be as good as being a squashed 19 year old who idolised Kevin Shields back in 1993 at the Town and Country Club :)

    Avett Brothers
    Wilco
.. saw Kiss out of pure nostalgia, but that was all pyro and not the raw energy of Avetts or Tweedy & co.

As you can probably tell from my post above, I am not really a country fan :) But I did see Brad Paisley once, and holy crap, can that dude play guitar! I felt bad for him because the audience was just sitting there. I was like "get on your feet people, this guy deserves a better response"
