It's not something I would own up to reading...0

I wont be watching the movie if they make it. Unless this movie is a porn it wont be anywhere as good as the book. You cant make a book that had a lot of sex into a movie with out showing the sex. Also if they are going to make a movie the actors should be unknown in my opinion. No known actors will really fit perfectly into those roles.0

I will sad to admit I enjoyed the books on a soft p8rn/ romance kind of level. Made a change to my usual literary fodder LOL
But this is the real 50 shades for most of us :ohwell:
HAHA!0 -
Fiancee read it and said that for all the hype that it was so risque, that it was nothing fiercely over-the-top about it and she was somewhat disappointed from that aspect. Between what I've heard her and some others talk about it, sounds like if you do anything beyond missionary, there isn't much shocking about it at all.0

This again?
So 2012.
Move on people. Move on.0 -
I read and own all 3 books loved them all ! If you read them all you will get a better understanding why Christian was the way he was it makes you feel sorry for what he went through as a child.0
-
Read the first book..didn't even bother with the other two. I just can't stand the way it is written..many words are used over and over again.
All I kept saying outloud was "run girl, RUN!!!" lol0 -
I read the first two books. Big mistake.
The writing was horrid. It wasn't even about bondage, more like emotional abuse. The main character, the female, was NOT strong. She was a weakling who turned into jello at the knees just because Mr. Grey was supposedly rich and hot. He was ridiculously rich. He was such a turn-off. The author tried to get 'shocking' and graphic, but it was ridiculous. The two bondage scenes were a joke...
There are several, several, SEVERAL lines that are repeated over and over...used, washed, rinsed, repeat...it was like reading the same thing over and over again. I read the second book hoping for some kind of...redemption, redeeming... something..all I got was a massive disappointment. What a waste of money!
I did look up spoilers on part 3, and am sooo glad I did not read it.
For the most accurate review EVER on all three books, I would suggest this site:

It's so freaking hilarious, honest, and on point. I was laughing so hard because everything she said was true.
Horrible books. Lame, lame.
"We aim to please."
*gag*
I agree with this. I did enjoy the mindless read though.0 -
couldn't get past the 2nd chapter. utter dreck.
went out prompty and got Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden. it's non-fiction and it's WAY better.0 -
Read them...re-read them...adore them....now my sex life is amazing0
-
Is it a DIY manual?
For some women, yes.
I couldn't get past the writing, and I only read a few excerpts. It sounded like something a 15 year old would write.
And, as has been stated more than once, it is not an accurate or positive representation of BDSM or the D/s lifestyle.
In short, I'd rather watch porn.0 -
Put the book down, get out of the house and go visit your local club, will be a thousand times better guaranteed0
-
It made me blush to read it even if I was by myself. But I couldn't put it down. Then I felt dirty after...in a good way.:blushing:0

I read all three books in a week and I loved it.
I will be seeing the movie when it comes out and I hope it stays true to the series.0 -
I felt the same about The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Roquelaure (Anne Rice). Bought the trilogy, only read the first book. Ugh. I won't be reading 50 Shades of Grey.0
-
I had to drag myself through the first book just to see what all the hype is about. Definitely NOT going to read the second or third ones. If you want a good BDSM book, read A. N. Roquelaure (aka. Anne Rice) "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" series.
2 other books come to mind. A Different Form of Loving and Screw the Roses Give Me The Thorns. Both are much more realistic portrayal of BDSM. Also g/f tried to read 50 Shades and found it both poorly written and boring.0 -
I love this fifty shades!0

I've read the whole series and it's one of my FAVORITES!!! It's a series I will definitely read again and once the movie is made, I will be going to see it. There is also a series by Sylvia Day that is very similar that is also really do...the first book is "Bared to You" (Crossfire Series). ENJOY!!!0
