I continue to buy them. I eat just the serving size and the box lasts a long time. In fact, I still have a roll of thin mints from last year in my freezer (granted, I think they got buried under the frozen veggies and I forgot about them). It's all about moderation and exerting some self control.

If someone suggested this, I apologize because the thread is getting long. When any group comes a knockin' (band, boy scouts, cheerleaders,, etc) I just give them the money. After all, that's what it's all about. If you must take the cookies, give them away to a neighbor or friend. I try not to take them in, because if I do, I am more likely to eat them.

You can always donate them, there is a donate column instead of a cookie selection. I am a leader and have 2 girl scouts so I appreciate what cookie sales do for the girls. Everything in moderation right? I plan on enjoying my girl scout cookies just not an entire box at a time like I have done every other year!

I give a donation and let them have the full donation rather than buying cookies form a company that rips off the girl scouts. Plus do some research as to what is in the cookies. That will keep you from eating them.

Yep--they use the cheapest quality ingredients that the law allows and not a whole lot of $s flow back to the scouts.

Don't do it! Give them away or take them to work. I thought freezing them would help. WRONG, I learned to love them cold, they"re just too awesome :(

Order some and donate to charity or share with office. I do allow my self one sleeve of shortbreads and skip my morning coffee and make these my "cheat day" dessert. Sometimes I just put a dollar on the table and speed up to get by the scouts that stand in front of the grocery stores. These girls are serious about selling those cookies! They set up a stand in front of my gym last year, the toss a dollar and speed walk past was the only way I could avoid the temptation! I am a cookie MONSTER!!!

I get them to contribute to the Girl Guides, but I bring them into work. I don't like the mint ones, and the only other ones we get here in chocolate are the cream filled ones. I can pass on them with a bit of will-power. That one in the pic on the thread looks awfully good.

I usually just give $5 donation and don't order any cookies... that way I'm not eating it and I'm not promoting that to anyone else either. ; )

Our local band boosters sell tree-ripened Florida citrus every year in the fall. It is yummy and very good for you! I wish that all the fund raisers would do this and space out their fund drives from Oct. to April. That way, I could get great grapefruit during the entire season instead of just once in the late fall.

The Samoas (with their delicious dark chocolate) were so much better than the new Caramel Delites. Don't misunderstand, the Caramel Delites are still good, they're just not as good.

    ................THEY GOT RID OF SAMOAS?!

    Life is over.

Seriously??? Those and the Tagalongs are the bessssst. Sad day.

Order boxes that are donated to the military. I know that they would greatly appreciate them. Most troops offer this option.

I bought a box of thin mints, a box of Do Si Dos and a box of the new granola bars. I will give the thin mints to my nephew minus 2 cookies, the Do Si Dos to my Dad minus 2 cookies and I will keep the granola bars. All in moderation.

Unless you plan on NEVER EATING COOKIES again, buy some. Don't open the box until you are ready to. When you do open them, portion some out. Put the box away.

Please people...realize that this is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change. If you treat it like a diet you will be successful, you will get off of "your diet" and you will inevitably gain the weight back.

Thin Mints ... they come every year calling to my front door with their escort, a girl scout. They stare at me and beg me to pick them up. This year - I left the house to avoid their call. Yet, my husband broke down and brought them into the house. He knows how much they call my name and I adore/love them so.... DAMN them and him. I must be strong. I must not love them so.....
  • I put them in single serving bags, and freeze them. so I can only thaw one serving at a time. That helps me control myself from eating the entire box! lol

I can't wait to get girl scout cookies...I love them and since it's once a year, I'm getting them and will enjoy them-just not a whole box of thin mints in one sitting

Agreed!!! I'm not going to deny myself, just will not over do it!!

The problem is you only gave them 50-65 cents a box depending on where you live. If you want to support them just give a donation that they can keep 100% of.

The good news for me is that since I work with a whole lot of kids, it's pretty much policy that we don't order any at all, for the sake of fairness. Otherwise I'd be swimming in a sea of Samoas, for sure.

They didn't get rid of them. They are just from a different baker. Councils have two bakers to choose from...Little Brownie (Samoas) and ABC (Carmel deLites).
  • Give them to your skinny friends.

My daughter is a Girl Scout so yes, it's a dilemma. I ate a ton of Dulce de Leche today. But I will NOT do it tomorrow. (They are gone.) That's the key here. One day is OK. Just not everyday.

I took mine to work as well. My kids don't eat that many so it's best to share. My husband doesn't like them. OMG! So really it's just me. And I'm known to eat a whole box. And then be in a bad mood the rest of the day. So it's not good for anyone.
