im pissing my pants laughing, the best thread ever.
On a serious note...unless you are a certified trainer, or medical person, you could really seriously harm her by forcing her to exercise. better sign her up for a class for seniors as mentioned by another poster0 -
She probably isn't motivated enough.
Stick one if her grandchildren under a barbell and have them pretend to be stuck. It's probably best if they cry too.
As for the treadmill, is she old enough to still be really xenophobic? Have a friend of another race chase her.
She did grow up during prohibition . . . should I maybe motivate her with booze?
  :laugh:0 -
I'm unconvinced he's 92.0 -
She's 92! Most people don't live that long! Give up, let her eat, smoke, drink AND have unsafe sex!!!0
-
Find something you can do with your granny. maybe walk around the mall or a park. You will both cherish the time and she will get a little exercise.0
-
Why don't you just get her some raspberry ketone? See if they make it in hard candy. Old people like hard candy, right?
gawd, i almost peed myself laughing!0 -

I don't want to think about my granny having any kind of sex,
Let's not get off topic.0 -
Just yell at her, take her false teeth away and feed her protein shakes. She'll be like my Gran by her 93rd birthday...

attach a werthers to a fishing pole and hold it out in front of the treadmill while it is on. she'll probably do at least a couple hundred miles like that.0
-
Thinking on it, maybe chuck her in an ice bath here and there?0
-
Are you for real? She's 92---leave her alone. Apparently she isn't endangering her health if she's lived this long.0
-
Does she even lift?
^^LOL0 -
I dunno, she's 92.
If I make it to 92, I'm going to eat whatever the hell I want, snort cocaine and have unprotected sex with prostitutes.
Me, too!0 -
Maybe she needs you to buy her a new sports bra.........the "girls" are probably getting in her way on the treadmill and with the weights. Geez, help a Granny out! lol0
-
Must be trolling. 92...come on, cut the ol gal some slack. Just cause you into it don't mean she gotta change. You cannot make people do things they do not want to. Enjoy your time with her.0

I'm a little worried about the sugar content in werthers
Is there a diet option?0 -
put Matlock or Murder She Wrote on the tv infront of the treadmill she will be totally entertained and not even realize she has been walking for an hour0
-
I think you should just enter her into cage fighting at low level, she will tear that place up, then tear you a new one too for making her go at 92 lol funny shiz cheered me up x0
-
She might find it boring.
I would suggest trampolining (favourite of many old ladies of my acquaintance) or circus school.0 -
My Grammy wouldn't run without complaining either, so I tied a rope around her waist and the bumper of the pickup. At speed, you really can't hear her complain.0

What - no drunken Vegas weekends where you wake up married to some younger 70-something who's name you dont know?

You obviously don't know the OP. He actually IS a trainer, and a great one at that.
He is super supportive of my Journey, he does boxing with me in the mornings via Skype every day, even though we live an ocean apart.
Please be more sensitive to people here.0 -

Another brilliant suggestionn
The only problem I see with it is that it might make everyone else at the gym fall asleep.0 -
HI everyone
I've been on MFP for a while now. I lost 60lbs lifting heavy and eating in a calorie deficit and doing occasional cardio. My problem isn't with me. It's with my granny. She's 92 years old and absolutely refuses to lose weight.
I take her to the gym and stick her on the treadmill and after 5 minutes she complains she's tired?!
I got her started on Stronglifts 5x5 and she refuses to even lift up the barbell?
Do any of you have lazy family members? What did you do to kick their rear in gear so to speak?
I love my granny and want her to be healthy.
Dont be ridiculous 92 yrs old, come on, I would tell you to go fly off an airplane yourself without a parachute and leave me to my self. At that age you would be lucky to survive another year without worrying about whether or not you need to lose weight.
That said, yes there are lazy people in every family. I would worry about myself and not care about if they are working out with me. My life change will eventually rub off on them.0 -
