Atheists

Lots of threads seeking people of a similar religious background- thought it might be time for a thread seeking people of no religion whatsoever. I don't even necessarily want to be friends- unless you're looking for new friends, in which case friend away. I'm just curious to see how many atheists we have around these here parts.

I am an atheist myself. I think there's probably lots of us around here, though there's not often a reason to state it comes up.0
-
Me. I've unfriended someone because their heavily religious profile wasn't viewable until after we were friends. I'm not against those of religious backgrounds, but there's only so much thanking of god & whatnot I can handle reading.0

I personally am atheist/agnostic... Don't tell anyone though, >.> XD0

Some call me an atheist but I'm closer to agnostic. I posted a sarcastic bit from George Carlin a couple days ago and it got removed. They said it probably would not have been removed if it was in the "Chit Chat" forum.
I did notice someone had their "christian" post removed today. Not sure if MFP removed it though.
It's all good though. I would never complain about anyone expressing their beliefs in here.
I wonder if this thread will get locked.0 -
you know the modes will lock this0

Feel free to add me (Happy atheist here)0

Start a 'looking for Christian' friends thread and you'll flush out all the atheists.0

Hey...I'm not only an atheist, I'm also a pro-choice, gay marriage backing socialist. In short, I'm guaranteed to piss off a good 3/4 of the population merely by breathing ;-)0

Blech, me too.
Edited to add: I can't WAIT until well-meaning Christians get a hold of this thread and post about how they'll pray for us. Hahahaha!0 -
I'm Atheist now, though I didn't used to be, and sometimes I wish I wasn't. But after the things I've seen, both in my life and the lives of loved ones, I can't believe in any higher power right now.
I miss the feeling of comfort it gave me, though, to have faith. I am almost jealous of those who are still able to follow blindly in their religion, without being deterred by the hypocrisy of most churches. It's a great social group, and when I lost my mother, even though that was part of the reason I lost my faith in the first place, I wouldn't have survived the aftermath of her death without my youth pastor and others from my church. I may disagree with the Church as an institution, but I cannot say that an individual is wrong, delusional, or naive to have faith. I just probably won't ever have it myself again.0 -

One thing I've found about the average atheist/agnostic......we don't seem to have a NEED to have other atheists around us.0

I am one also, pleasure to meet you all!0

Agreed, cuz die-hard Atheists can be just as annoying as any other religious fanatic. :P0 -
Seen too much : I Do not believe!!0

I'm an agnostic atheist/secular humanist. I don't believe that there is a higher being out there but I admit I don't know. I do believe that you cannot expect others to direct their lives according to your faith unless you have proof. I believe in the power of people acting at their very best to conduct themselves with good will and sensitivity and altruism towards others.
I'm so glad that when a horrible tragedy strikes, such as the massacre of children, that I don't have to argue it was "God's plan."0 -
There are a few atheist groups on here. You may want to check them out. I don't know how active they are.0

I'm a happy atheist too. Only joined MFP a couple of days ago and very quickly almost left after seeing so many references to god. I find it all very strange.0
