Hey...I'm not only an atheist, I'm also a pro-choice, gay marriage backing socialist. In short, I'm guaranteed to piss off a good 3/4 of the population merely by breathing ;-)

    Ditto! :D

    My people :)

I am a Christian and I will state the same thing as I did on that thread, `if the shoe was on the other foot` then you may find it offensive?

I'm delighted to see so many of us! I did find an atheist group after I posted this, but it doesn't seem super active.

I'm a happy atheist too. Only joined MFP a couple of days ago and very quickly almost left after seeing so many references to god. I find it all very strange.

I don't blame you.. Thankfully when I joined, I did not see this or I would too be out!

Happy for other atheists and agnostics to friend me! Gotta admit im turned off accepting a friend request when Jesus is mentioned on their profile as an inspiration.
I've declined FR for this reason...I just figure that we won't have much in common

If this was an "I am looking for Christians friends" thread it would be locked already due to all the atheists complaining. Don't worry I won't turn you in, You have a right to have like minded friends.

How is it divisive? Is it not ok to seek out people who are similar to you?

I wouldn't report a thread looking for Christian friends. We ALL have a right to have like minded friends.

Unless you live in Scotland, in which case you'd be frightfully normal... sorry. :)

    I'm a pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, socialist, feminist, Scottish-Jewish atheist... Drives my in-laws NUTS.

And I'll second that. I'm an obsessive Whovian and I've MET my first Doctor. My first Doctor was Sylvester McCoy and he's actually a friend of a friend of mine these days.

Confused by your comment. I see nothing offensive about Christians (or others of varying faiths) seeking like-minded friends. There's also nothing wrong with atheists or agnostics seeking like-minded friends.

What's there to be offended about with the original post? There are "introduce yourself"posts for 40 year olds seeking other 40 year olds, moms seeking friendship with other moms, etc etc etc etc....

This topic doesn't apply to me personally as I'm not an atheist, although I may have some agnostic leanings...but if you don't want to be-friend atheists or agnostics...then don't. :flowerforyou:

Why do people make things so complicated?

Prepare to get friend requested by Christians. :/

I think that Atheists think themselves to be more offensive to Christians than they really are- but then again I've never been on that side of things. I am a Christian... and I do not expect anything "christian" out of them.

Many people that claim to be Christians live as though there is no God- which makes them agnostic. What's the difference?

Only Christians can do that; otherwise, it is VERY divisive.

Not Scottish or atheist but otherwise we are similar...although I have no in-laws to drive nuts ;)
