OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote on my newsfeed but I am so incredibly happy I'm posting on all the threads I normally follow as well..........
I'm so excited my friends. I just returned from my doctor's appt. and obesity, high blood pressure and acid reflux have all been marked as RESOLVED in my records.
He's totally pleased with my BMI and only agreed to my wish to have it under 25 to shop for insurance. So 3 - 5 lbs. more and then stop!
No recommendations for improvement. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???? I could not.
He said he was going to be using me as an example so I should expect my ears to burn a lot in the next few weeks.
Sorry to go on and on but I am sooooooooooooo pleased.
This is my first visit to the doctor *ever* where I wasn't told to lose weight.

Jane, so sorry about your dad's illness, and angry with you against the sloppy medical follow-up. Good luck to you both!0

I am a little slow this week, catching my breath after a very busy week of travelling and a large family Easter feast to prepare..... all the step daughters, husbands, grandkids, cousins that we could round up!
The Easter bunny is looking after us...my second DD, who has tried to be pregnant for 3 years, is carrying her first miracle child beautifully at 40 years of age...fully healthy and really showing, and due in about 7 weeks!
BUT that sneaky bunny had more! my third DD, who is 38, is 8 weeks preggers with her first! Wow bunny! Better than chocolate! I gotta finish up my 4th degree so I can babysit!
Here are my April goals:
1) lose 6 pounds and stay very clean in eating 6 days a week
2) reach 7000 steps a day, 7 days a week by May 1
Heading off to drink my water! It may not be a real spring here yet, but I am not losing hope!

Congratulations! This is beyond awesome and took a lot of hard work on your part. Way to go!!!!! :bigsmile:0 -
Hi, First time in. Just started with MFP last week. I had lost 30 lbs over 2 years but have hit a standstill. Would love your support. Also started a Yoga class last week, could really feel the burn, but I have a hard time staying with exercise programs. Any hints for sticking to fitness programs. Your support is appreciated. Thank you.0

kathyzoo-Moxie1962-Good for you for being creative and facing all your challenges! :drinker I so wish my husband cared enough to at least try to
get healthier! He refuses to make changes with the exception of eating most of my meals I cook which are healthy.
He will never give up his white bread, pop, ice cream and cookies which frustrates me to no end and even though I
know I can't control this, it puts temptation in my way on a daily basis.
My DH still eats all of the bad stuff, but he realizes the weight he has lost so far have been due to his efforts of eating mindfully. I don't believe in starving the man, just offering more healthy fare. Along with his meals of "Man Food". You know, hot dogs, pizza, etc.... That keeps him happy and motivated.
He usually comes home from work starving for a good home made meal, so I make sure I can give him one. And we ration out our treats. Every time I have lost weight, I try to have one treat a day. Not good to feel deprived.
katla49-Moxie: We deal with food sensitivities and allergies, too. I think you have a much more challenging situation, with a wider variety of foods to watch out for. Good luck. DH also has MS and we’re going to a new doctor today. DH refuses to take shots. As a diabetic he already has had to endure too many shots. We hear there may be pills on the horizon. I hope it is true. I’m past 60 and I feel like this is easier weight loss than I experienced in my 30’s. The three big assets now are that DH is doing this with me so I don’t have to cook two different meals, the support I get from MFP, and because I finally understand this has to be a lifestyle change instead of enduring near starvation until I get to my goal and then reverting to bad habits that lead to ultimate failure. It has been slower progress to be sure, but more pleasant.
My MS is just managed by diet and trying to be healthy. I knew when I started going downhill that it was time to make changes and be serious about it.
On meals, I cook one meal, and weigh/measure portions separately. I don't mind the extra dishes, if it helps us both to lose weight. And, sometimes, I will cook his foods, and have my different choices. He is finally understanding how things are working that way. MFP is a great help for this weight loss challenge for myself and my DH.0 -
I went on vacation and forgot to get back in my routine. I have already eaten 300 calories over my limit today and I still have a dinner party to go to tonight. I do not understand why I can not get back into the swing of things. Each morning I say "Ok, I'm back." Then I'm not.0

Cheryl,
So that's why I haven't been seeing your lovely horse with you.....I know how hard it is to get back to the routine but you CAN DO IT...you have lost #26 and I know you want to reach that goal. Take it one day, one meal at a time.

13tea: Welcome to our group. All you have to do is post, and you're in. The keys to success are to eat less, log your food, move more, drink lots of water and be persistent. :flowerforyou:0

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Joining this group is a good way for me to keep on track this month.
Today has been good so far.
Wish it would warm up a bit so that I get some bicycle riding in. I know that I could bundle up to ride, but prefer not to do that.

SIX PAGES ALREADY?????
I think I remember my goals. I failed miserably on studying my Russian and never even began to organize a darned thing. I think I lost a few pounds but nothing earth shattering. I have kept up with my personal training, but heck, I paid for it in advance and am on a regular schedule so what choice do I have? I have failed most miserably in regularly painting, if anything it is even worse...and I'm an artist.
But my HUGE success, and what I now realize should truly be my only goal for now, is I'm way beyond where I've been in my running and quest to run the BSR. My pace has far exceeded my goal, my distance far exceeded my goal, and I am confident I will be ready to do ten miles on May 5th with no walking. I have also learned so much about myself through this training that I recognize it is fine for me to temporarily place a hold on my other goals until this bucket list item is in the bag.
My goal for April: continue training for the race, including my twice a week 6 a.m. Personal trainer appts, and 9 miles by end of April.
Then I'll ponder an Appalachian Trail thru-hike.
Jackie in Cherry Hill outside of Philly0 -
Wow ladies, I was saving this for last night and then exhaustion hit - and now you're at SIX pages?
I am in my busy season right now at work so am working long long hours - but I do need to get back to taking care of myself and losing these last pounds. Preferably before I go on my first cruise in September (25th anniversary).
I fell off the wagon and stopped paying attention to my food quality - and when I get tied I just can't seem to get the motivation to fix it.
So, goals for April (which will be a crazy busy month):
1. Log everything I eat - every day.
2. Walk 60 mins at least twice a week. I walk a lot at work but I can't really log it. This will be actual treadmill time.
3. Eat more fruit and veg, less junk. And Ice cream is NOT a fruit or a vegetable!
I may do more lurking than chatting this month but I will return in May with my progress :flowerforyou:0 -
:flowerforyou: When we bought our last firewood and stacked it in the garage, someone cautioned me to be on the lookout for mice living in the woodpile. I said we hadn’t seen any the year before so we probably didn’t have any. A few weeks ago Jake went to open the new 40 pound bag of dog food that was stored in the garage and discovered that the bag had already been opened (probably by a mouse). He called the vet to be sure it was safe to feed the food to the dogs and the vet said it was OK as long as there wasn’t a dead mouse in the bag (there wasn’t). Today when Jake took the car for its regular service they found dog food and mouse droppings in various places in the engine and undercarriage of the car. Now we keep the new bag of dog food in the laundry room.
   Lin, that is an awesome report from your doctor. You are a great inspiration to all of us.
:flowerforyou: I got so many steps yesterday because of my five mile walk with my friend. Today I’ll end up with about 20,000 steps because yard work and riding the recumbent bike are good exercise but don’t add steps.
:flowerforyou: I have had to ban many food items from my house because I am unable to be moderate with them. In many cases, abstinence is easier for me than moderation.
:flowerforyou: Even if you didn’t do well with your goals for March, it is still a huge victory that you are continuing with your journey and posting here…..do not be discouraged.

Hi all. I posted on the old thread and Lin emailed me, so here is my post again!
ok ladies, I can't even begin to catch up! So I will start fresh here. The last 2 weeks have been awful. i have been way too busy at work but that's every year at this time. But I teach Monday then the others teach for a couple of weeks so that gives me a break other than clinical. This week clinical is easy...Operating room tomorrow and service learning Thursday. So I'll get half of each day in my office to get some work done. I did make one decision that will help. I'm picking my daughter up earlier now. I used to make her go to homework club from 3:30-4:30 so I'd get her then, but we wouldn't get home til 5. So now I'm going to be getting there between 3:30 and 4, which will help a ton. It was getting to where after I got home, exercised, ate, showered, I had no time to work on the books, so I am way behind.
I am leaning towards having the surgery for Benny. We saw the surgeon yesterday who thought being proactive and taking his gallbladder out now while he is well is a much better option than waiting until he's really sick again.
I think I told you about our new fitness challenge at work where you get points for things like eating fruit and veggies, exercising, volunteering and spiritual activity. Well, I am the first person to get to 100 points so I get a prize tomorrow! Even though I haven't been here much in the last 2 weeks and I'm eating too much, I have pretty much kept up my exercising and eating habits, so the points really added up fast! The committee people were really surprised; I guess no one else is even close! Woo hoo so I'm doing something right anyway!
Work continues on the garage. We have an entire wall of large heavy-duty shelves, a workbench, and two large wall-mounted cabinets that are up. We have been putting things on the shelves, trying to keep similar things together and we have been going through the auction stuff and also condensing boxes (22 boxes went out with the recycleables today) and you can actually see part of the floor! I will be able to park inside in a couple of days. Hallelujah! I'm sure the neighbors will be glad when our driveway does not look like a used car lot! We have been totally amazed at the stuff we are finding. 12 of everything because we never can find stuff so we buy more!
The weather is finally starting to warm up slowly; it was in the 40s today. This is a really slow-moving spring! Well ladies, I need to get something accomplished, so I promisse to be back tomorrow! Meg0 -
Lin - way to go, that is terrific news at the doctor's office!
Barbie - a lady I worked for in the past had her engine ruined by the little rodents. It drove her crazy trying to figure out the weird car problems!
I did 3.5 miles uphill in 55 minutes on the treadmill tonight and worked up a good sweat. The calories burned weren't quite enough to completely offset the delicious sandwich I had at lunch, yet it was worth it. Back to my usual lunch food tomorrow....
I can't recall if I told ya'll about the choir director at our former church. He is 66 yo and divorced when his daughters were small, and they are now all grown up. Last fall he married a younger (mid-30's) gal and, ta-da, she is pregnant and due in September. Well, now the oldest daughter is also pregnant and, ta-da, she is due at the same time! I was ROFL - how Father of the Bride II. They are all very happy and I'm glad for their happiness, but, really? I would not want to reverse course at this stage of my life, that is for sure. I'm praying for healthy moms and babies, and lots of laughter.
Well, off to prep things for tomorrow's adventures and maybe knit a couple of rows before I fall asleep in the chair.
Sweet dreams to all the Vit. F's!

Hi ladies...a bit of self reflection coming your way, so feel free to skip.
I am back in a time of transition at work - from management to...non-management. I knew it was coming and - despite it being quite unfair - I thought I was prepared. But you know, you never really are. Just stuff outside of my control, outside of my boss's control, and outside of a whole lot of even more higher-up's control. A victim of politics is all, together with so many others.
Perhaps fatigue comes along with all of that transitioning, and I surely am - and have been - tired. But give me a bit of time and I will bounce right back. This is a good thing that comes with age...you bounce back. It's about flexibility...in more ways than one. Just keep telling myself to put things in perspective...for the long run. How much or how far am I willing to bend? It's okay to say stop and it's also okay to say keep going. It depends...
What matters is that at the end of each day I get to come home, to a loving home. Ultimately, that is what counts in my book.
:flowerforyou: Welcome to all the new faces. Come back to post, you'll find support and some great ideas and motivation for your journey.
:flowerforyou: Thanks to all my Vitamin F friends for your heartfelt words of wisdom and your display of caring.

Golf game rained out today and also tomorrow. But we need the rain so bad in TX that it's a blessing. We're getting our
things ready to leave on Thursday for our cruise. I called the cruise line and for a charge of $3.95 I can get WiFi in the cabin. She didn't say anything about a per minute charge but we'll see about that.
Lin - I just wanted to get up and do a happy dance for you. That is an awesome report. Hard work pays off. Good for you.
Welcome to all the newbies. Everyone adds a different flavor to this group and I appreciate all of you.
Meg - so good to hear from you. Take time to breathe - you are working so hard.
Didn't take notes so I'm afraid I've forgotten a lot of stuff.
Stay strong and stay focused.
Cheryl - I can relate to your not being able to get back on track but you can do it. Don;t wait til Monday. Everyday can be a new beginning for you. I'm cheering for you.
Have a great evening.
Sue in TX0 -
If it's ok, I'll just read along for a bit.
(Actually, if it's not ok ... how would y'all know if I'm here or not? Hee hee)0 -
I can’t believe we added 3 new pages since yesterday! So glad to see so many new post-ers. This is a great supportive group you’ve joined.
Today I had a “networking” breakfast at Walker Bros. Man was it hard to keep the calories in check. :noway: I ended up dividing the meal in 2 and bringing half home (but I think I might even divide the left overs in 2 again to keep the calories down). I guess I’ll see what the scale says tomorrow morning before I decide. But I did have a yummy greek omelet and pancakes.
I picked up a new client so work is very very busy. We close on my parents condo in a couple of weeks and we are pretty close to having it all cleaned out. This weekend a number of relatives came over to take furniture, kitchen stuff and odds and ends. I feel good knowing my parents stuff will continue to have value for my extended family. Unfortunately my garage has turned into a storage area until we can get the stuff we took for the kids to them at school. My DD is moving into a house next year so we have bedroom furniture and a ton of kitchen stuff for her. My DS only has a box of pots and pans. Thank goodness it is finally warming up so I won’t miss parking inside.
I actually saw tulip and daffodil shoots coming out of the ground. We may experience spring in the Midwest yet.
JP – now that ditty is stuck in my head too…whatever gets us moving. I can see and hear that little guy from Madagascar dancing and singing that song!
Lucy – you made me smile. Congrats on your NSV! :flowerforyou:
Michelle – I could feel your stress and pain in your post. :brokenheart: Follow your heart – go to your son’s wedding. Being face to face may help you better communicate with each other. I hope so. I hope Vince comes around.
Moxie – good for you – great weight loss for you and your DH. I can’t imagine having to deal with so many food allergies!:grumble:
Darlene – I echo Katia…if you cannot seem to emerge from your depression on your own please please seek some help. We are all here for you
Kim2walker – welcome. Barbie told us about moderators and abstainters. It sounds like you may need to abstain from that bread and butter!
Lin – YEAHHHHHH!!! Congrats the outcome of your visit is a very big deal. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
BJ – double congrats to you and your DDs
13tea – I think the trick for me to stick with exercise is to try lots of different things and then continue with what I love. I get bored easily so I really need the variety. For cardio I love hiking, riding my bike on the river trail (can’t wait for it to get warm enough to do that again), dance (Zumba, ballet, hip hop – which is quite a sight!), kick boxing, paddle boarding, etc, etc, etc…I use DVDs to strength train since I that is my least enjoyable activity so I let someone else lead me through it and I love yoga – I just feel so serene and loose after. Hope that helps
Cheryl – good to see you again! Vacations are definitely tough on keeping calories in check. I read in Health magazine that when you get off track just doing one healthy thing can help get you back – don’t know if it will work for you, but doesn’t hurt to try…you’ve made so much progress already…you are strong…you can do this:bigsmile:
Jackie – your running is a huge success – congrats:drinker:
Meg – congrats on getting to 100 pts and winning the prize. :drinker: Hope things ease up for you going forward…sounds like you found a good strategy for when to pick up your DD so the evening goes better
Gail – ha ha – can you imagine having to deal with diapers and sleepless nights again?
Carol – I have faith you will get back on track (see my note to Cheryl). Old Chinese proverb: it matters not how many times you fall down but how may times you get up. I’m pulling for you
Renny – Sorry you are going through work issues but it seems you have it all in perspective. You will bounce back!
Sue in TX – enjoy your cruise:glasses:
I think I’ve actually caught up! I can barely keep my eyes open anymore. Have a great night all. Jodios :drinker: :flowerforyou: :bigsmile:0 -
Hello Ladies,
Wow I bump last night and so many posts.
@Lin Contests that is amazing news you go ahead and float you deserve it.
@Barbie thank you for keeping everything going.
@Meg congrats. On getting 100pts
I am beginning to understand and agree with not having certain food temptations in my house. I have since I started this goal practice moderation weighing and measuring portions of food. But seeing how much better I do and I feel better when I eat simply and closer to the root.
Last few nights waking up needing to drink water cup after cup. Going to try to lower sodium intake.
Wishing everyone a good night
Liz0 -
Wow, good evening everyone and I can't believe how many posts - and welcome to all the new friends/posters.
BJ - how lucky you are, two grandbabies on the way - YAY
Cheryl - so nice to see you back, keep on coming back and keep logging as much as you can. Getting back in routine can take awhile, but keep on starting over as many times as it takes. Perseverance is everything. Think of it as water on rock, it's the continuation that gets results.
Michele - my heart aches for you and I don't think you are being unreasonable. How old is your son? If he is still talking about the first impression, it's time he moves on a little. Holding onto the past gets him nowhere.
Meg - I think you must have a competitive spirit in you - you seem to excel at contests - good motivation in any case.
Renny - sounds like you are approaching the work change in a realistic light. And I too think adaptability increases with age (although I do know some very rigid older folks).
Jane M - praying you will find another home quickly, not just a house, but a home.
Lin - congratulations on such a great job and thanks for the motivating post. It really is about being healthy in the long run.
Sodium is not my friend...I'm still holding water and thirsty as all get out. Wish I could remember more of your posts but I'm working on empty here. I had an early morning meeting and didn't sleep well last night either. I think I'm going to hit the Voltaren on a couple of muscles that I'm really noticing today. And I believe my physio session tomorrow will be the final one. The rotator cuff is definitely improving with the exercises.
Night ladies, sleep tight and have a great morning tomorrow (as the morning goes, so goes the day).
Lila in the still sunny Kootenays in south east BC (although it's supposed to cloud over tomorrow - bah humbug!)0 -
Dotty - welcome
moxie - what a wonderful loss for you and dh
grandmalle - when it rains it pours, huh?
lin - Vince said something to me last night which made me stop and think. He said "I wonder if the reason Bryan doesn't want us to talk to Dianna is because he's afriad she'd get upset and cancel the wedding". hmmmm.
Did Jillian Michaels' Burn Fat Boost Metabolism DVD today. Tomorrow yoga and then the deep water class.
After working out, I was getting dressed and finally put this one sweater in for the Salvation Army. It really is too big and I know that I'll be looking for reasons not to wear it, so I decided to make room in my drawer for a new sweater.
Then I went to a food store. I made hummus to take to Mexican Train tonight with me and needed some veggies. I got a bag of baby carrots, some organic celery (one gals who is usually there has an MSG sensitivity), grape tomatoes, and I'll take some crackers. Came home, steamed the asparagus that I got (on sale), made up most of the veggie tray. Will go to Mahjongg this afternoon. Vince needs to go to the bank for Newcomers since we have a new secretary. See, the secretary is also on the checking account so in the event he can't write a check, she can. The previous secretary said that in the 5 years she's been secretary, she thinks she probably wrote out two checks.
jb - your walking story was very inspirational. Thanks for sharing it.
Have a question about asparagus. I was watching Emeril once and he was saying how if you snap the asparagus stalk, it will snap at the spot where the woody part begins. My dilemma? I do this, but I always feel like I'm throwing away half of the asparagus stalk. What do others do? One time I steamed the whole asaparagus
Laura in CO - you're moving? How did I miss that? Where are you moving to?
Lin - what wonderful news from your MD!
bjmcq - Big Congrats!!!!
Jackie - that's just wonderful how much you learned about yourself. I know you'll do real well in the run.
Meg - WooHoo getting the prize! I'm so proud of you. Doesn't it make you feel good, and I'm sure you're an inspiration to all the others in the challenge
Carol - my feeling is if you can't count cherry and peach ice cream as fruits, certainly you can count ice cream as a dairy product full of calcium....can't you???????
Jessica called us tonight, said she'd talked to Bryan. Now we aren't supposed to know that she spoke to him and what she said. anyway, basically, she told him that what happened over a year ago, he has to learn to let go. It's over and done with. She said she told him that dad is really pissed off and how we want to get to know Dianna. She said he told her "message received". I hate to say it, but that doesn't mean he's going to do anything about it. She said she told him that he's being a D***head. I guess only a sister can say something like that.
Went to mexican Train tonight. It seems that next month the lady who usually has it is going to be in the Dominican Replublic so she said "there'll be no Mexican Train next month". There seemed to be quite a few people who were unhappy, after a couple of people said "my house isn't big enough", I offered our house, we certainly have the room. She didn't seem pleased, not sure if its just that she wasn't feeling quite herself (she wasn't her usual bubby self) or if its something else. Anyway, my feeling is that going two months not playing is rough and I don't mind doing it once in a while.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

I do exactly what Emeril says - and the Joy of Cooking which is my cooking bible (no offense meant ladies). I know it seems like throwing a lot away, but it's usually not the best part of the asparagus. My sister takes her ends and makes asparagus soup with them as the extra cooking breaks down the woodiness.
