My first job was at Space Center Houston. I was an Education Instructor for schools and scouts when they came in to do activities after the center closed. I was pretty good at it too. We weren't really able to do anything other than our jobs since we led 30+ people around... It was a blast though!

Duckworth's fish and chips in Scarborough, Ontario while in high school. Waitress and dish washer - the waitresses alternated and we shared tips. Loved it and I compare all fish and chips to that place. Most fall short!
  • A translator!
I translated a website from Russian to English and I guess I'd count that as my first 'official' job.

I was hired to work as a floor manager at a high-end home furnishing store for my first job.

What I really did: got drunk on my lunch breaks, coming back too blurry eyed to read cash register totals to customers.
I also dyed my hair cotton candy pink (the boss told me I "scared away customers", undercharged myself for products, took very long coffee and bank runs, and had my boyfriend in the store after hours...

Worked the front desk at a bowling alley. Everything except the stinky shoes was fun, especially working weekend nights with the black light bowling and music. I also got to bowl for free whenever I wanted.

My first job was our family farm. My pay was room and board. :)
  • My first job was at the local bakery...which is where I learned to love fresh baked cakes, sweets and bread! Worked after school and weekends from the time I was 13 til I turned 16 and was old enough to work at the local pharmacy. Before the bakery would open I helped the owner glaze, sugar and ice the donuts, then I waited on the customers. Along with that I helped sample everything! Fortunately, I walked everywhere back in those days or rode my bike.

at 14, I was a dishwasher on the weekends at a place called (no joke) Toadsuck Catfish Inn. It was a catfish buffet type place. Very popular and the name Toadsuck came from local legend many years ago.

I had a summer job working in a gift shop at an amusement park. While I did work as a cashier and stocked shelves, it was pretty much a party job as many of my friends worked there as well and when not working we visited other people at their respective spots and rode rides and so on! Fun! Fun! Fun!

    Ann Summers retail assistant.
Basically talked to people about intimate things and had "lightsaber" fights with certain items.

Technically I helped out at my parents' bakery a decent amount before I was actually hired anywhere, it was just a way to earn allowance or any extra money I wanted. That was mostly cleaning and a bit of food prep. A job where I actually had an interview would be a cashier at Wal Mart. I did not enjoy it one bit, my wrists would ache all night from scanning items and I'd hear the scanner "beep" in my sleep.

I made treats and cooked food.
Long history of fast food after that. Surprisingly it wasn't until I got an office job at 24 y/o that I started to to gain weight.

Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, starting at 16. Hired as Ride operator. I ran rides (cleaning up vomit is NOT fun!), but also did the photo & ticket booths. Fun job!

I've heard of Toadsuck Days!! I have two friends in Conway and two of my friends - one from Calif. and one from S. Carolina flew out there just to go. I opted out.

My first job was pumping gas at a car wash. Not much fun. What I actually did was pump gas and flirt with the boys. I had to have a job when I was 18 or graduated from High School....whichever came first. They were on the same day, so I went out that afternoon between school and graduation and got a job. Worked my way "up" to work inside at the gift shop. I was there for about a year.

Teleresearcher at Synovate in University, ughghh.

I conducted surveys with people who could by and large care less, took abuse, allowed guys to try to verbally undress me in order to get them to take the damn survey (actually, there's a couple funny stories tied to that) and then quit three weeks early because they wouldn't allow us to read books between calls, but would allow us to read trashy magazines -.-. Lousy, lousy job.
