Movies that made you feel awful

Up in the Air
Bridge to Terabithia
Both of them absolutely gutted me.
Up in the Air, talk about 90 minutes of great and the worst ending I think I ever saw.0 -
Another one that really creeped me out was "Storm of the Century" Especially since it's loosely based on the true story of a town of people just disappearing. Creeepppyyyy0

50/50 I watched this before my daughter had her 2nd major surgery on her skull. The part where he is being wheeled in for surgery and he called for his Mom made me lose it, I had to leave the theatre.0

Jarhead... watched when my husband was deployed.0

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned 'Irreversible' - the only film I've ever known where the cinema had a sign up by the ticket stand saying you were entitled to a full refund if you didn't want to watch any more of the film after the first 20 minutes.0

Tyler Perry's Four Color Girls....This movie made me sick to my stomach....One girl gets rapped and by far the worst was when Michael Ealy Drops the 2 kids from a 5 story window.....just straight sick to my stomach just thinking about it....That movie bothered me so much I went to pick my daughter up early from the daycare just to hold her!!!!!
Final Destination Movies were effective as well. The First Final destination came out my Senior year in High school......We were suppose to go to Paris(or some where out of the country) Just put it like this ....no one signed up for that trip, LOL! Movies like that you can't say "Well I would do this or I would do that if I was in that situation" LOL SAW I/II/III as well!0 -
I think the movie that made me feel the worst was 'Requiem for a Dream.' I was not okay for weeks after that movie.
Interesting. I actually loved that movie. I think it should be shown to tweakers everywhere.0 -
Saturday Night Fever.
They make it out like it's a fun, disco dancing, Bee Gees, and John Travolta kind of thing, it's gonna be exciting!
Turns out to be dark, heavy, and depressing, it's sad.0 -

I actually have a hard time watching Titanic. When it gets to the part where the Irish woman is telling fairy tales to her two kids as the water's rushing under the bed, then the elderly couple embracing... while the band plays on. Some movies I don't mind crying through, but that one I just really do not like at all.
Same here. Like horror film but cant watch poltergeist - too close to home at the time.0 -
The Lovely Bones. NEVER AGAIN!!!!0

The Lovely Bones. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Agreed. Totally effed up movie.0 -
The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
I can't tell you how many times I would wake up around 3 am and freak out
I seriously have still not recovered from that movie. "Horror" flicks never had any effect on me... but that one. I don't even like seeing the name. I had to put a piece of masking tape over the clock on VCR (yes, VCR) I had in my room and at night I would turn the alarm clock away from me so I not able to see the time. Seriously awful nightmares the night I watched it. I can't watch Dexter because the actress who played E.R. is on the show.0 -
Caligula... This 1,000 yard stare isn't from hours on the treadmill... there just isn't enough soap and SOS pads to make you feel clean.
If we are talking about the same movie, I watched that about 25 years ago...sick..sick..sick..
Mine would be ARLINGTON ROAD..Because that same stuff is happening this very moment. Truly a movie explaining TERRORISM long before the word was mainstream. Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms, and..the chick..cannot think of her name right now.
After that: LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT: ORIGINAL, of course! Saw this when I was doing exactly the same thing the girls were doing..looking to score some pot..scared the hell out of me for YEARS..until I saw ARLINGTON ROAD. I saw this at a double feature drive in with EXORCIST..(Exorcist was lame in comparison..)
God..I am OLD...(Coughing dust out..)
*sigh*0 -
Reading through the comments has made several come to mind now....
I agree with those who mentioned the Ring.
And now you can watch it in 3D where she actually crawls out of your TV towards you...no thanks!0 -
Grave of the Fireflies
YES OMG. I just saw this for the first time recently and bawled like a baby.0 -
Blindness with Julianne Moore.0

Hostel
This. For some reason this movie disturbed me the most out of any others I've seen. I don't understand how anyone could enjoy this movie.0 -
Boxing Helena.
While Julian Sands and Sherilyn Fenn are both beautiful, the movie is scary ugly twisted.
I'd still watch it again, though.

agreed, but it is very well done, and with Tilda Swinton, one cannot go wrong.0 -
The Lovely Bones. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Agreed. Totally effed up movie.
I completely agree and can Why would you come back from the dead, a. not stop the killer from dumping your body so he could get caught, b. come back just to have your first kiss. I mean couldn't you go hey stop that guy then have your kiss.0 -
