Went hiking for almost 4 hours today with my neice & nephews @ Starved Rock State Park near Chicago. Not sure how far we went but guessing 12-15 miles. I will have to figure it out on the trailmaps. It was HOT as can be out! We had several healthy snacks in our backpacks so we snacked often. Its a good thing 'cause I burned over 1300 calories today!

Hopefully my weigh in on Monday morning will show my excess activities!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Ladies, let me share this quick story. I met my best friend's boyfriend Friday night for the 1st time and he brought along his male cousin. The four of us went out to dinner and had a great time laughing and joking and when they walked us to our car later the male cousin gave me a hug and said "it was nice to meet you" and in the process of the hug he felt my upper back and said "girl, have u felt your back, it is awesome, do u work out?". I told him I was doing P90X and he could do nothing but sing me praise for how awesome my body looked as a whole but my back/bicep definition in particular. I was wearin a really cute strapless shirt that showed of the upper body pretty well.

While I can see the transformation my body has made it sure feels good for someone who doesn't even know me to notice it.

Well, no change on the scale this week. This is the first week I haven't seen a loss since I started on MFP 4 months ago. A little bit bummed, but overall happy with my progress. The next month should be a little crazy since I won't be home 3 out of the next 4 weekends. Not sure when/if I'll have a chance to weigh in, but I'm determined to make healthy eating and exercise choices during my time away.

Almost done with the 30 day shred and am happy with the results :)

Hope you are all doing well!

Ugggg. Looks like all those cookies and good food finally caught up to me.:ohwell: For the last week I have been in The Taos, NM, area for vacation. It was great fun. There were 13 of us total that met there. We did a lot of hiking and walking around shops, but I was REALLY bad about the water. Which is NOT good when you are "at altitude" for a week. But I am back now, and I will return to regular programming. I have 7 weeks to drop those 9 lbs. I will be walking as much as possible, swimming a couple times a week, and eating right.
:drinker: Here's to getting back on track!:drinker:

I'm losing -- but more slowly than I'd like. I'm starting to suspect that with the added exercise I've been doing, my net calories may be too low. I've been eating 1290 + 1/2 my exercise cals. Going to start upping my intake by 50 cals per week up (until I I'm eating ALL my exercise cals back) and see if I can't find that sweet spot to start losing 1-2 pounds/week again.

No weight loss this week, but I'm happy to be maintaing, I know weightloss is going to be a little slower now that I'm so close to my goal! I bought Insanity this weekend and the date has been set to start on August 2nd. I can't wait. I think I might do a Brazil Butt Lift and Insanity combo cause I will have a lot of time in the evening before my fiance gets home to do Insanity. So during that time I might throw in some BBL to keep my booty working.

What's wrong with your foot? I have been having pain in the ball of my foot for the past month. I am hoping this week off from running on vacation will do the trick with rest but if still there might have to visit the doctor soon too.

My foot had been hurting for several months, and I just ignored it. I also have a small knot on the top of my foot. I finally went to the doctor a month ago, and she said I cracked a small bone in the top of my foot, probably a stress fracture from exercising. She didn't do much except tell me no exercising and keep my foot elavated as much as possible. After 2 weeks, I called back to let her know it's still hurting. This time she said she looked at my x-rays again and there was no fracture, so all I know is it hurts really bad all over and I am ready to be able to exercise again! I have an appointment with a podiatrist next week.

That's awful! I finally made an appointment for Wednesday but was putting it off because didn't want to be told no exercise. I am afraid at what she is going to say. Hope you get better news next week and not just more '"no exercise". hard to lose weight when cannot burn off calories!!

I had my appointment with the podiatrist. He said I have some damage to the joint along the top of my foot near my ankle, and there is fluid build up, which is causing the knot. He says surgery is a last resort, and he's going to try a couple of other things first. He also said a big part of my pain is caused by my left leg being a little longer than my right, and therefore having added pressure on the foot. I still cannot do the treadmill, elliptical, and especially the boot camp class I was going to, etc. I can swim and do upper body strength exercises, which I knew. I've just been lazy. He also said I could possibly use a stationary bike unless my foot pain increases with that. Everything else is still off limits!

It's good you are getting yours checked out too! Hopefully it is nothing serious!

. . . . . He also said a big part of my pain is caused by my left leg being a little longer than my right, and therefore having added pressure on the foot.

How did he determine that your left leg is longer than your right? I just ask because I was told that by an orthopedic doctor, and started treatment based on his diagnosis. Unfortunately for me, it was a misdiagnosis. My pain and problems got worse until one of my dad's co-workers suggested I go to a chiropractor. I went to the chiro, and he took a different (more expensive:ohwell: ) set of x-rays and actually measured the bone length. My legs are only a small fraction of an inch different (which is quite common). My difference was in my hips which were tilted due to a bicycle accident when I was 8. After that, I started a totally different treatment, and the pain decreased very quickly after that. Because of this, I am always leary when someone says a dr. told them this. I am hoping that your doctor did his due diligence and has diagnosed this right!

I hope your foot feels better soon! At least he has told you that you can swim still. That is a great work out, and with the weather we're having right now, about the only outside activity I'm willing to do!

Lisa, to clarify... he believes one leg is longer than the other based on observation, but he is sending me to another location for an x-ray that he can't do at his office to determine for sure whether that is the problem or not. Thanks for your concern and input about this!

Well, I admit to stepping on the scale TOO frequently this week. This morning (after 2 days of being careful, and drinking more water) I was down to 167. Hopefully this will stick and I'll still be down for the rest of the week!

Now I just need to finish the last paper for my grad classes.

    Here's to good choices!:drinker:

Good morning ladies, I'm sorry I've not been very active on the boards lately but I've not been feeling very well at all. While my back pain has subsided for the most part I now believe i'm coming down with a cold b/c I have bodyaches, headaches, a scratchy throat and have been sneezing. I've been trying to combat it as best I can but it is slowly getting the best of me.

I didn't even complete yesterday's workout until late in the day. I kept procrastinating and finally I pulled myself out of the bed and jogged for 30 minutes. I have no idea the distance I covered but I felt I was moving at a decent pace. I have not decided what I will do for today's workout but I hope to shake this feeling b/c I've not been on my game and I don't want all my hard work to fall by the wasteside. My eating hasn't been horribly but I've not been eating on a schedule like I normally do and my workouts havent been intense since last week and I don't want to lose the momentum.
  • Hope you feel better! Stay motivated lady. You motivate me. :-)

How did that happened to your foot? Did you have an injury? Sorry you have to keep off of it so much. that stinks. I tore my ACL a couple of years ago and it is hard not being able to do what you want.

I saw the doctor yesterday and she said I have capsulitis of my second toe. She gave me a pad to wear and antiinflammatories. Said if the pad helps, I would probably benefit from a custom insert. It does, so I am going to get it. She said it is caused from the fact that my second toe lies slightly down farther than the other toes so it gets a lot of the brunt of the pressure when I step on it. Never knew about it until started running a lot. Luckily, she said that I do not have to stop running but to cut back for a couple of weeks and then back up to normal to see if the pain increases again.

BTW, my left leg is slightly shorter than the right!! Found out back in elementary school when the school did scoliosis testing. they thought i had scoliosis and sent me to my PCP. He said one leg was slightly longer than the other but never caused me any pain.

I finished week8 of C25K this week, I also started a Leslie Sansone 5mile walk video on my rainy days. I've been cranking out 75squats & 100crunches a day and my daily evening walks (which I've been adding a small jog in each one). My eating has been good, the heat is making me not very hungry, but I make sure to eat 1200-1300 on those days. Otherwise I'm 1500-1800cal. Anyway, here's my stats:
    May 3: 240
    May 11: 237.6
    May 17: 236.6
    May 24: 235.2
May 31: 232.8---started Labor Day challenge on 6/1/10
June 7: 231.8 (was 230.8, went up a pound this past weekend)
    June 14: ----277.4
    >mini goal of 228 for a date with my brothers
June 21: 225.6 (was up to 228.2 on the 18th, but it was due to lots of sodium)
    June 28: 223.6
    July 1: 222.6
    July 5: 221.4
    July 12: 218.8

Good morning ladies, it seems like we are all in struggling in some form or fashion but let's not give up. We're a strong group of women who have bonded together over the last 6 months and will continue to offer support when needed. I too am still not feeling well. My back is still bothering me (not as much as earlier in the week) and I'm trying to fight this oncoming cold. I'm still sneezing and sniffling yet I feel like my noes is stuffed. My head and body are still aching. There's no work today so I plan to rest for the majority of it.

Despite still not feeling my best I did manage to complete a workout. As I stated in an early post, I'm keeping it light this week so I completed 2.5 miles of the Leslie Sansone wallking dvd for a total of 32 minutes.

Brunettewife: You are doing so awesome. I believe you will surpass your current goal if you continue to workout as you have. Isn't great to set a goal and not only attain it but surpass it. Great job, keep it up.

Good morning ladies, I'm still not 100% but slowly improving. Since I have a wedding reception to attend this evening I decided to take a run to Walmart to pick up the gift card for the lovely couple. It was already humid at 8 am so it made my run a bit difficult especially since I'm already congested but I stuck with it and now the workout is complete (2 miles total). You really can't beat killing 2 birds w/one stone. I was able to pick up a gift for the couple and get the workout done in one shot.....WooHoo.

Finished my 7 mile race this morning in about 100 minutes. I wanted to be at 90, but missed it by a mile - litterally as I was at mile 6 in 90 minutes! We thankfully avoided the heat they had predicted, however it was POURING RAIN through the whole race, all but about the last 3/4 mile! It was still pretty humid, so it actually was nice in the rain. Just had to be careful running since there are so many hills, so I didn't fall! Thankfully the lightening stopped just before the race. It still thundered a bit, but not too much.

Afterwards, Katelyn (my neice) and I came home & showered then went to lunch with my brother & sisterinlaw & her brothers. Then I went with them school shopping for clothes. They dropped me off at home at 5 pm & I took a 3.5 hour nap. My entire body is aching as all can be. My glutes are really killing me from all the hill running! I have 3 blisters on my feet too - probably because my shoes & socks were soaked from all the rain! I hope I feel better tomorrow! Its a rest day for me thankfully!

Choco - hope you get to feeling back at 100% soon! Great job in still running especially in the humidity!

Bru - You'll meet that goal in about 10 minutes! You are rockin it girl! So proud of you!

Good afternoon ladies and happy Sunday! While I'm still not 100% over this cold I do feel like i'm slowly progressing. I'm still sneezing and sniffling w/a slight headache but the bodyaches have subsided. Since today is my designated rest day I told myself I would keep it light. It's entirely too hot and humid for me to think about jogging outside so I headed to the gym. I started out light on the treadmill and then before I knew it I was completing a 15 min HIIT alternating between 7.0-8.0 mph as my intense speed and 6.3-6.5 for my recovery speed. Once I hopped off the treadmill I decided to see what I could do on the elliptical and 15 minutes later I had burned over 150 calories. I still wasn't ready to call it a day so got on the spinning bike for 25 minutes. So when the workout was all said and done I had completed 55 minutes and burned almost 500 calories. I think I will add some stretching in a little later but it felt good to bring it. I just hope I don't pay for it later since I'm not quite back (I felt ok in the moment, so that's why I went for it.)

Kintegra: Thank for the well wishes and GREAT JOB w/rocking out the race. I don't know when I'll get to the point of running more than 3 miles especially outside. I do fairly well on the treadmill but outside is a WHOLE DIFFERENT BEAST so that fact that you completed at all is amazing:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • I joined MFP this week and would like to participate in the Labor Day Challenge.
This week's goal will be to get in the following: run 3 days - 1 hr ea. and walk 2 or 3 days - 1 hr. ea. on the 3 days I do NEWO 12 minutes strengthening exercises.
I started out at 188 lbs. If I meet these kinds of goals I hope by Labour* Day to lose 6 lbs.
Already I have been motivated to workout and to exercise more care in what I eat. I will be away 2 different weeks in August and will only check in a couple of weeks. I hope to continue well with food intake and exercise while I am away.
One week is a busy camping trip where I volunteer with a group of children; the other is a (hotel) trip with hubby for 25th wedding anniversary.

Thanks - I still am feeling the effects of it however! Those hills are hard on my glutes & thighs! :frown:
