Popcorn has and will always be one of my favorite snacks, I could eat buckets of it. However, I make it in the microwave in a paper bag so it is very dry and rather bland when popped...and salt or other dry toppings don't stick to it. What do you use to top your popcorn without adding mega calories and fat?

    My mouth.

I also use Brummel Brown, but find it too watery when melted so we blend in powered butter with 1 T of Brummel Brown until it is a little thicker then put that on. No salt (the powered butter is already rather salty) and this works out well. If we are going to put some other flavoring on we sometimes put on spray butter which claims to be 0 calories but we all know that is only for 1 or 2 sprays.

Another vote for hot sauce! CRYSTAL hot sauce to be exact.

To make it stick, add a little EVOO to the bag or bowl first, coat thep opcorn and then add Crystal and shake it/mix it up again.

I also *love* to add fresh parmesan, but that's not low fat or fat free. :ohwell:

This is going to sound absolutely nasty but I love Heinz Ketchup drizzled over my popcorn because I'm not a fan of butter or salt on it and the seasonings never stick and end up at the bottom of the bowl.

I can't believe it's not butter spray, 0 calories, then a light dusting of cheddar popcorn seasoning. I use the 100 calorie packs. Makes for a wonderful snack

love it! The yeast is super good for you and gives a cheddar taste!
  • I got an olive oil sprayer from Bed Bath and Beyond and pour some olive oil in there. Then I top it with fresh ground pepper and salt. Sometimes some garlic powder or chili powder. I also pop my in a paper bag in the microwave. I buy organic popcorn, comes out a lot cheaper than the prepackaged stuff and better for you!

I put a bunch of garlic powder and black pepper on it with a dash of nutritional yeast.
  • Try a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

I buy the Orville Redenbachers white cheddar popcorn. It comes w/a cheddar pouch you sprinkle over the popcorn then toss it like a salad and it coats it nicely. Only 30 calories a cup and delicious

I once tried it with powdered sugar. Very good! Different from the salty popcorn.

I cook popcorn in a heavy pot on a stove with a little oil - enough to make it pop. I add salt to it later. I don't like the taste very much with an air popper or with a paper bag in the microwave, so I opt for the calories from the oil.

    cajun seasoning
    hot sauce
    sriracha
    garlic powder
    plain salt

I prefer my popcorn not buttered, and just lightly salted, so I'll definitely have to try some of the ideas of EVOO or sprays to help my seasonings stick... though I've never really noticed much of a problem with it before...

    Hot sauce........

Mmmm I will try chalula sauce on mine next time. I squeeze lime and add salt, red pepper and brewers yeast if I have i around. Sometime I put coconut aminos on it (my soy sauce substitute as I am allergic to sulfites).
