There are tons of recipes at the crock-pot website. Most seem to be submitted by readers. I have not tried these, but it sounds good. There are also some good tips. One that is key, is that most recipes only need 1/2 - 1 cup of liquid. I was a bit surprised by this as I always thought the more liquid the better.
Anyway, some of my favorites are chili, beef stew, pork roast and beef tips. I usually just dump ingredients into the crock pot, put the lid on, plug in and turn on, and walk away for 6-8 hours. Most everything I have tried turns out. Liquids that I use can be water, creamed soups (which I know you don't use), packets of onion soup mix, diced tomatoes. You really can't screw it up.
I do find that chicken tends to dry out if cooked too long, even if there is a lot of liquid.
When making chili, I always brown the ground meat (beef or turkey) before adding. I think the chili tastes better the next day, but it is delicious whenever.
I have tried baked ziti a couple of times, but once turned out great, the other time the pasta came out mushy. If I were to try this again, I would most definitely research and find a recipe that would work.
I really do love my crock pot!!! I think I've had 10 of them in the 27 years of marriage.0 -

Italian Beef Sandwiches:
1 Chuck Roast
1 Jar Pepperoncini Peppers
1 packet Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix (dry seasoning)
1 beer
Cook on low for 8-10 hours and then shred meat and put back in juices. Serve on wheat sub rolls with provolone cheese and giardenera.
Salsa Verde Pork
1 pork shoulder
1 jar salsa verde
1 cup chicken broth
Juice of 1 Lime
Adobo Seasoning (or mix of garlic powder, cumin, oregano, chili powder)
Cook on low for 8-10 hours, shred pork and put back in juices. Serve over brown rice with black beans, salsa, cheese, etc or use in burritos, quesadillas, etc.
The leftovers freeze very well on both of these recipes.0 -

This is one of my recipes. It is really more of a winter thing.
Crockpot Rosemary Chili
16 oz can pinto beans in chili sauce. (Bush's Best Chili Beans)
15 oz can seasoned diced tomato sauce for chili (Hunt's)
1-1.5 lbs ground beef/turkey/venison.
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon minced garlic
About 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary, pull off the leaves and discard the stems.
Put everything in the crock pot on low for 4 to 6 hours, or until meat is cooked through.0 -

If she wants recipes she does. If they are lactose intolerant we can't recommend anything with butter or fresh cream. If they can't have a lot of sodium we need to consider that. If they are allergic to wheat that takes a lot of food off the list. Why not try thinking for a moment.0 -
I almost always use homemade chicken broth as the base to my crock pot recipes. I also like to add roasted veggies (tomatoes, onions, peppers roasted with some salt and seasonings), pureed but still chunky. That with the broth makes some awesome stuff. :happy:0

go for some of those crock pot seasoning packets at the store instead. I love them and the calories are like 15 per packet

I have this in the pot today... one pot meal.
layer in pot as listed
4 chicken breasts, seasoned with pepper, thyme and oregano.
1 small chopped onion
some chopped mushrooms
1.5c long grain wild rice
more seasonings (whatever you like... I added more thyme, oregano, s&p and rosemary)... or you could get the preseasoned uncle bens wild rice
~2c chicken broth and 1c water
It also calls for bacon (cooked and chopped) on top of the chicken, but I forgot and didn't have any.
I have this cookbook and it is amazing. It even has cake and bread recipes. I'm sure it has some, but I've cooked a ton of recipes from it and haven't used a canned soup yet (they weird me out).

i just take whatever meat i have like roast or chicken and rub my favorite seasonings or use a marinade and let it sit over night then get up and throw it in the crockput with onions and other veggies usually potatoes and carrots also and sometimes celery and let it cook for 8hrs if i work that day and if i dont than it will be hrs cooking. im the type of person that usually doesn go by or use recipes i just throw together or if i do see a recipe i make it my own. so im sorry i dont have a recipe to give but just ideas :happy:0

This one is excellent. Only canned item is coconut milk, unless you can find it un-canned. Had it for dinner last night, so tasty!
ETA: used chicken breast instead of thighs, and used smart balance instead of real butter (hubby is lactose intolerant), made it 211 calories per serving.0 -

I added a recipe for jerk chicken to the MFP database that uses only fresh ingredients, a food processor and a crock pot.
Tonight, we are having chicken chili. Lean ground chicken, a can of tomatoes, a can of beans, corn, and seasonings.
Really, once you figure out a good balance of meat/veggies/wet ingredients, you can stick just about anything you want in there and have a good meal come out of it.0 -
Crock Pot Beef Tongue:
(2 -3 lb) beef tongues
2 bay leaves
pepper
garlic, fresh or jarred
salt
ground ginger to taste
ground chili power to taste
Directions:
1.Rinse the tongue and put in pot.
2.Put enough water to cover.
3.Season like you would your favorite beef roast with bay leaves, pepper, fresh minced or jarred garlic and salt if you like.
4. Cook on low for 8-9 hours.
5. Take out of crock.
6. Peel skin off and shred meat
7. Serve like roast beef or on tacos
It is actually really good and 3oz is 190 calories0 -
If you like spicy food then this is great!
Mexican Beef Stew (serves 4-6)
2 onions
2lb braising/ shin steak
2 cloves garlic
700g Passata (or tinned toms work as well)
2 tblsp red wine vinegar
3-8 chipotles chillis (depending on taste) (if dried soak in warm water before destemming & chopping)
2 Bay leaves
1 tsp oregano
Brown off the beef, soften the onions & garlic then put everything into your crock pot and cook for 6-8hrs.
Serve with rice/ jacket potato/ corn tortillas and coriander and sour cream/ grated cheddar as you prefer.0 -
