Matt Smith to leave Dr Who

Maybe they were serious about making John Hurt the next doctor? Althought I doubt that as I see the comedic value of his character taking an absolute nose dive. I honestly can't think of anyone else. Simon Pegg maybe?0
-
Nooo! I love him as Dr Who. Don't leave Matt! *crys*
No clue who could replace him though.0 -

I'd maybe take one of the Phelps twins.

Simon Pegg's already been in the series but that doesn't mean much as the actress that plays Martha Jones (her name is escaping me atm) was also in a previous episode, not as Martha Jones.
It took me forever to warm up to Matt Smith after all the love that I have for David Tennat and even now I'm not really sad to hear of his leaving. I just hope that the next doctor is easier for me to enjoy than Matt Smith is.0 -
I'm a bit sad - it's taken a little while for me to warm up to Matt Smith and I'll be sad to see him go (not as sad as I was with David Tennant...) - it'll be interesting to see who fills the Doctor's shoes. I agree with an unknown and it would be nice if he were ginger. I've heard Rupert Grint's name tossed around on the ginger front, but I just can't see him in that role...
Well, another fandom I'm a part of survived Twilicorn, I supposed the Whovians will survive this...geronimo!0 -

I forgot about that episode way back when. They could show the Rowan Atkinson spoof just to mess with everybody.0 -
Didn't anyone see the season finale? This kinda brings in some explanation there, but I think we're going to see a mishmash of time streams of epic proportions. And as much as I love Matt Smith, he's lasted longer than any Doctor, I would think. I just really hope that whomever they bring in is able to develop the Doctor's personality along the lines that Matt took from David who took from Chris... Which will be the tipping point for me. Matt Smith's incarnation of the the Doctor is who I have always believed him to truly be - a bit goofy, unhinged, mad, confident, and truly unpredictable.
I saw this coming a mile away though with several developments, including some of the leaks coming out of the 50th Anniversary episode. I have some theories.... the leading one being that we might actually be nearing the end of the most epic story in all of media history. We now know the whole story of River, Clara, Amy, Rory, etc... even Rose and Martha. I dunno... but I am rather worried that we may see the Doctor's story ending as well.
{rant} After spending two days surrounded by Tenths at the Denver Comic Con and NOT ONE Doctor Who fan able to tell me who my cosplay character was, I'm a teensy bit miffed at all of the fandom, so it's not personal. I couldn't even get mistaken as Oswin for crying out loud. (Seriously, though, I blame that on Denver... we still are a bit hickville) {/rant} It's not like Jenny was forgettable this season! :P0 -

Tom Baker lasted seven consecutive season. But in regards to the latest show, Matt Smith is the longest. All three doctors we've seen so far had their own personality and were all likeable. Even the newewst iteration of The Master was impressive. We'll be debating his replacement until we finally see the christmas special.0 -

Yeah, there's a reason I didn't mention Rupert. He just doesn't have that right spark to be the Doctor. Then again, he was playing an awkward teenager, so who knows?
Hey, what about the guy who played Neville? He's not a ginger, and I have NO clue how good he'd be in the role, but he'd damn sure be fun to look at...0 -
Nnnnnnnnooooooooo!!!!!!0

I'm not too incredibly sad. He's been on for a loooong time, and I was a David Tennant girl anyway. It's kind of become the Matt Smith show lately. I love him, but he can't be the Doctor forever (that would defeat the point of Doctor Who!)0
-
Yeah, David was my favorite....Wouldn't it be totally awesome if the writers made the "Doctor" a women!!!!!!!! Heck yeah!0
-
Every time I start growing attached to a Doctor he regenerates! I'm sure the next one will grow on me!0
-
I thought Chris was great, but David Tennant was MY doctor. I'm not really bothered who replaces Matt. I have to admit Matt was actually great at it as each episode wore on.
Not sure if I could take Rupert. He'll always be Ron Weasley to me. Lol0 -
I think he should magically morph back into...
A girl can dream...
Yes,Yes and YES!!!!! (hand to head in a swoon)0 -

He's got big ears, big teeth, a long pointy nose, but OMG there is something about that man that is just HOT. :devil:0 -

Granted the ears and teeth are big and his nose is a bit pointy. Odd...I never noticed that before...
It's the eyes I think. Woof:smokin:0 -

I got a thing for blue eyes. Fiance's are big and round and blue. Beautiful.
#9 is my Doctor.0 -
I would love to see Rupert Grint sign on...so the Doctor can finally be a ginger.0

I've heard this today, too. I get sad every time we get a new Doctor, but then I always fall in love with him eventually. I'm sure whoever is next will be great, too. Although it would be nice to see an older Doctor again, like in some of the old series. I would really be disappointed if they brought in a younger person- people keep mentioning Rupert Grint, and as much as I liked him in HP, he's like 12 years old. I thought Matt Smith was way too young to be the Doctor when he first started, but then he grew on me. I know I wouldn't be happy with a woman Doctor. As much of a feminist as I am, it just seems like the Doctor needs to be a man. However, it might be nice to see a person of color play the role.0
-
I was so sad when I found out. MY FEELS. T.T0

Actually, back when Matt Smith started Doctor Who he was 26/27. Rupert Grint is 24 so it's not that much of a stretch. I'd rather see Matthew Lewis play the Doctor though.0 -
Just heard this. Not disappointed at all as I barely watched it after David Tennant left (adored him). I say if the budget stretches lets have another Scottish actor - Ewan McGregor, I think he may be too big a name for the role though. Maybe Simon Pegg. Need someone totally quirky and totally a guy who does his own thing and in his own way......x0
-
I miss David Tennant. Bring him back!0
-
I think Tennet had some of the greatest plot stuff, but I'm tempted to say Matt Smith is my favorite doctor. I can't imagine anyone else playing him.
Doesn't a Timelord only have 13 regenerations?...I know there was that thing with River, but...
*panics*0 -
I just hope, whoever the new Doctor is that the writing is better. Stephen Moffat's scripts were great and slightly less so Russell T Davies, but the guy who did the last series didn't impress me, they were too formulaic and confused.0
-
Apparently Rupert Grint and Russell Tovey are 10-1 favourites with William Hill to get the role, but there is also talk that the role could go to a woman with Helen Mirren and Olivia Colman being mentioned.0

They need to give Dr. Who to a grown up this round!0 -
Now if only they'd get rid of Moffat, maybe Who would actually be good again.0
