Is your stomach shaped like a "B"?

Alright, one more response to this. Since I hadn't ever thought to compare my stomach to a letter B before, I was reading up on another trait recently. My belly fat is very soft, but I see a lot of people with what appear to be much harder, rounder bellies. There is apparently a very serious difference between those types of fats. In people that have harder rounder bellies, the fat tends to be built up between their organs, it's a deeper harder fat. People with softer bellies tend to have more of that fat just below the epidermis, and it's softer looser fat. [very liberally described]
Here's a basic description:

I have both a soft belly and a B belly. If these two traits go hand-in-hand then it looks like we may have the better end of the bargain, health wise. Haven't spent a lot of time poking other people's bellies though...so, yeah. No idea.0 -
I've had a B shape my whole like, even when I was awkwardly thin in my youth I had a pooch around my bellybutton that I used to refer to (kindly and loving) as my "doughnut". I pretty sure this is just the way my body shaped, which is not probably true of most people's bodies. I am going to try something called Ultrasonic Cavitation and Radio Frequency which I bought on groupon. It's totally noninvasive and painless (I've done a couple already), but it's supposed to liquify fat cells and then you basically pee them out. . . sounds like magic, it may be a scam, but I bought it on groupon so it cheap and I thought it was worth looking in to.0

interesting reading the trouser theory.
i have a big belly but smaller waist, bum and legs so my trousers always sit in my B.
my friend wears her trousers lower and has a perfect little pot belly, all cute and round not flabby and B'ish like mine!
Yea the trouser theory was interesting. I don't know what kind of trousers I should be wearing to reverse the issue. I refuse to wear "mom jeans". LOL
I went to just wearing jeans that fit properly, rather than something I had to get into with a shoehorn lol. I was seriously wearing jeans in high school that were probably two sizes too small, because I didn't want to have to go up to a bigger size. That line in my waist is totally from the pants. It has gotten somewhat better over the years (it used to be really severe and sometimes painful), but it is still there.0 -

Another interesting comment. Thanks for sharing. Will check out the article.0 -
I read the article ,interesting. I have a soft B lol. But I'm learning not to stress it anymore. My main goal is to lose weight to be healthy. Second is looking good. Out in public I wont be naked lol so most people wont see anything. The right clothes can work wonders. There are always body shapers too. And I have seen lots of pic of cute bathing suits I could wear. My bf is the only one seeing me naked and theres always lingerie . He loves me now so if I get better how can he not love me then lol.
I really did worry about this all the time when I first started losing. Loose skin, stretch marks, saggy belly, cellulite. I fixated on it. I probably put on stress weight lol. To me, its not worth worrying about anymore. There are so many amazing people on here happy with how they turned out. I want to be one of those people!
Try to focus on the good and the positive!

This is me! Ugh!0

I do too. I really think this is normal.0

This is one of the most affirming threads I've read here - honestly I thought I was freakish and deformed! I'll work as hard as I can, eat the best I can, and ultimately accept the body I have... but wow is it nice to nice I'm not the only one.0
-
That's me for sure, I have never refered to it like that but as soon as I read it I was like WOW that's me. I am meeting with a trainer next week in hopes of getting rid of it forever.0

Not sure how to describe mine but from the sides, my tummy sticks out just in generally, fold where my belly button is (which is in an innie) and then pouch that hangs rather low. From the front, it looks like my fat shifted towards the middle.
I have never had a flat stomach so I am hoping to have one.0 -
i kind of wish i had this because i notice that girls who have this tend to have teeny little waists when they lose weight.
the B shape has nothing to do with how tight your pants either  i think this is a more of a factor of heredity and how your body is shaped. for instance the most times i see women with this it's usually those with a body type with clear distinction between waist and hips (ie pears and hourglasses), i have never ever seen this on a ruler shape like me1 -
i've always had it. since i was a wee child.
even when i was 8 i remember thinking i was a freak for having it. seriously, this thread made me so happy.0 -
I have it too and I absolutely hate it!0
-
I'll be happy when at least the top half of my "b" is smaller. I feel like the lower pouch will look more feminine curvy once the top half doesn't hang over the waist of my pants...0
-
I thought I was the only one! Im terrified of it not going away I dont want that belly indent at my naval any more.0
-
i have this and even when i had low body fat (17%) it still didnt look flat from the side i dont get it. i always thought it was cuz my bellybutton is kinda high up haha0
-
I also have this weird underboob roll thing...0

SAME. i was also thinking, maybe its from bad posture? like not standing up really straight? i used to have posture issues and it would aggravate things0 -
I have a B, too...found out last year I have a hernia and was thinking it was from that....hoping it will go away when I lose all my weight.0

What a strange thread. I always thought the contours of a fit woman's abdomen were kind of attractive. Now I find out it's a bad thing and that a stomach should be perfectly flat? Hmmm...I think I'll keep my contours, thanks. :huh:2

it was, more or less. actually I have three horizontal lines on my tummy all the time, where it folds. but as you can see it has flattened out quite nicely with diet and exercise.0
-
"B" shaped stomach here, too. I hate it, but know I might be stuck with it despite losing so much weight, unless I have surgery (which might end up being necessary but I won't know for a couple years...but right now loose skin is interfering with some types of workouts). Glad I'm not the only one, but sorry we have to deal with it! (I'm going to read through this thread later today.)0
-
I totally have that, and for me, it's due to a combination of excess weight and loose skin leftover from two childbirths. They were both csections and I think that made the problem more pronounced. They are both getting smaller with weight loss but I'm not entirely sure I will ever have a relatively flat stomach after my two sections.0

Someone mentioned that ruler shaped bodies don't have a B tummy?
I'm sorry to say but that's me, a ruler with a B more like a b lately if I have 5 to 8 lbs to lose those are "stuck" on my belly only We'll see when I get there if it goes away (sigh) pears are more flat on the lower abdomen right?0 -
This has been so enlightening! I am a capital B! :-)
Now to work on the weight loss, exercise, posture, and wear only pants that fit my waist.
I'm so on it!
I've been most concerned about this area. I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone, and that it may change...
And even if it doesn't all go away, it'll be a lot smaller.0 -
I have this problem too.
What i think is my actual waist is about 29inches but around my belly button is around 35inches
I hear that a woman's waist should be no more than 32inches ( http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/loseweight/Pages/Appleorpear.aspx )
So i'm not sure whether mine is good or bad, i'm not sure if what i'm measuring is correct.
Can anyone help please?0 -
Mine is currently shaped like a "b" ... my waist is super small and flat, just that pouch and them hips. DRIVING ME NUTS.0
-
lowercase b here! sarah5893 I have the same issue, my high waist is 28-29 and my low waist/belly is 35-360
