L3 D2 done. Right now I'm enjoying level 3. Much better than level 2, which I wasn't a fan of.

I'm glad to see all of these positive comments about level 3. I need them to motivate me through level 2.

This Saturday my choices for exercise were:

    - run in the 105 degree heat outside in the middle of the day
    - cut the grass (large, hilly, and thick back yard that is a b**** to mow) in the 105 degree heat in the middle of the day
    OR
    - do level 2 day 3 video in the air conditioned house.

I chose mowing the lawn - figured if I was going to sweat outside I may as well be productive. Both of the above sounded better than the video.

I really need to get back on track. Tonight is the night - and I'm going to keep telling myself to fight through level 2 for 7 more days because you all say level 3 is better :D

Hang in there...don't give up....I am on L2D6...it's hard but gives results :flowerforyou:

I took 3 more skip days. >.>` Oops? I got back to L3 today and did L3D6... I've also been slacking nutritionally. I don't know why I've fallen off the wagon so in the last week. It's been rough. But I will finish it. It won't be perfect. It won't be uninterrupted. But it will be completed. Four more days - that's nothin'. Right?. . . . right. ._.

    l2d3 done tonight.

I think I may just not be strong enough for this level. I really feel like I am doing all I can just to get through it, and I do most all of them wrong.

Every once in a while I will try to flatten my back or straighten my legs to get into the right form and I can feel the difference but my muscles collapse and I go back to just doing them halfway.

But I am determined to push through the days in hopes that it gets easier.

You will get better, you are only 3 days into this level. Even when I had done 9 days before, that last day was still a massive effort, the cardio on this level meant my heart pounding the entire way through the 20 mins. I sweated the same amount at the end that I did when first starting the level.

Don't get us wrong, level 3 is hard but after getting through level 2 it seems so much more enjoyable.
  • Took the weekend off and then wasn't able to get to it yesterday either...boo...

But started Level 3 today and I agree with folks that it does seem to go a lot faster than L2 and be more enjoyable.

That being said, I still feel like Jillian is trying to kill me, had to take several breaks, and my heart is still pounding a mile a minute in my chest...

Also, jumping jacks with weights....hahaha she has got to be kidding me!!

Still feels good to know that I have gotten this far and I will keep going, even if I can't do 5-6 days a week like I started out I can see the changes in my body and I want to be even more fit...

Can't wait to continue to hear how ya'll are doing!!

Hey guys, what do you record shred as in the exercise section on MFP? Im unsure how many calories I would have burned, any formulas to work this out? Thanks x

I was putting it in as 20 mins of circuit training, which seems somewhat accurate. Then I found a calculator online that gave me an estimate and I used that to create my own exercise in MFP. I can't remember where I found the calculator, but I just googled "calories burned during 30 Day Shred" and there were a couple to choose from.

    L3D3-done.
Sore elbow skin from the plank push up things at the start.

Trying so hard to eat healthy, I have been having grapes most nights in yoghurt as an after tea dessert, well last night I got really bad pains and bloating in my stomach, the kind I get when I eat bananas, so I guess I'm off grapes now as well. Good job I prefer vegetables to fruit anyway.

Am I the only one who thinks level 3 is way harder than level 2? The plyos are killer!

SHREDDERS: L3D5 complete...with gusto! Only 5 days left! Here are the stats...did Squat Challenge first...220 squats, 20 minutes, 164 calories. Then Shredded...27 min, 218 calories. That's 382 calories for 47 minutes of work. I like it. TELL ME! TELL ME! IT'S GETTING TO THE WIRE...HOW WAS YOUR SHRED TODAY?!

Which one next?? Getting close and I need to decide (and hopefully have the same crew) to join me in either Ripped in 30 or Extreme Shed and Shred. I may even throw in a 6wk 6pk. Anyone interested in any of those?

you aren't alone shannon...I'm with you! I think level 3 is the toughest. the only thing I can think of is: those who are saying how breezy level 3 is are doing the modifications.

I am slowly getting better at the plyo lunges (on level 3 day 5 now). and getting better on the rockstars, too.

I don't find L3 breezy by any means....just mentally it seems easier for me because the time seems to go more quickly so even though I'm dying I feel like I'm dying for a shorter amount of time LOL I also feel like my body is dying in different ways....L2 my arms and shoulders and cardio killed me....now its legs and cardio :D

I'm going to do Ripped in 30 because I have that DVD and then after that I was thinking 6 wk 6 pack....
  • Level 3, Day 2 done....whew....managed to do the jumping jacks with weights today....I consider that my achievement thus far this level......

Wow, another one? I'm looking forward to going back to my daily yoga when the shred is over. I think I'll do it again in a few months or do one of the levels once a week or something.

It is harder. I am finally able to most of level 3 without modifications. I am at day 4. Towards the last circuit is where it kills me.

I was thinking about doing 6wk 6pk, but my back has to get better so I can finish level 3. I still have 5 days left of level 3 and I am hoping to be able to get back to it soon. I walked my neighborhood yesterday so hopefully I can return to shredding by tomorrow or the very latest Friday, if not I plan on starting level 3 all over from day 1.

Did not finish level 1 smh. I lost interest but I am starting level 2 today. No excuses! I am finishing this program. I kind of lost motivation since I'm going to the beach next month and I always get lazy the closer I get to wearing a swimsuit (I figure these last few weeks won't make a difference). I also weighed myself Saturday and was happy with the results. So I am back at it today because I really want to say I finished this plus I want some results!

I'm watching the video now so I can be prepared for the torture later. So far the exercises are way more fun than level one.

    L3D4-done.

Pushed through, did normal push ups as the crunching noises in my shoulders when I did the travelling ones was really off putting.

Feeling alittle down about it all. Feels like the only thing I'm really working in on is shoulders. They have some real definition and so do my biceps, but apart from that nothing else. Still can only see top abs as the rest are under a little mound of fat that refuses to go. Just feel like apart from the cardio everything being done is just to make shoulders look bigger and therefore everything else seems smaller.

I am eating my calories back so maybe this is my problem, although I'm not actually doing this to lose weight.

Although I guess it has only been 3 weeks, maybe I am expecting too much so soon?

So thats me having a little pity party.
Hope everyone else is managing ok :-)

    pkbryant,
I also had trouble with my lower back after 5 days of level 3... there was no "ouch" moment, as you described earlier in the thread. there was just a general ache that started after I finished the workout. and it was bad the next day so I skipped a day. the next day (which would be today) it was getting better, so I tried it again. I think I figured out the problem. most of the moves in that particular level (level 3) involve stress on the back. so it was the accumulation of them all. that is why I never felt an “ouch” moment. it was just slowly building. I figured this out because when I was doing the shred today, at least half of the moves I felt a bit of discomfort in my back. not enough to prevent me from doing them. so anyway, I will take it easy on the last 4 days of the shred... maybe go for every other day or something, just to say I finished it.

    as for the results...
I think I may have lost 2 pounds or so (I really don't have much to lose, so I wasn't expecting to lose much). I do see some more definition in my arms... still no real abs yet. some improvement in quads. and a big definite improvement in endurance.

I am happy I did it (well, almost done), but I certainly am not a poster child... like I would never start a thread saying "wow... lookee here at these shred results!"

I read this somewhere on mfp... you see so much hype over shred results that it makes you think everyone gets those results. but the fact is, there are a bunch of people who do the shred, see mild results, shrug their shoulders and move on. and never post about it, because that wouldn't make such a good post.

anyway, I loved it and I will be happy to move on to more of jillian's dvd's. I already own burn fat boosst metabolism and I tried it once and thought it was a great workout. really tests endurance... it's longer.

if anyone wants a break from jillian, I have a suggestion. cindy whitmarsh 10 days to a better body. it is a great workout. alternating strength and cardio. there are two 30 min workouts: you do arms (30 min) one day and legs (30 min) the next and then alternate those for 10 days. it's really cheap on amazon and the reviews are great, so you don't have to just take my word for it. it's easier than the shred (well it certainly isn't easier than level 1), but you are really sweating by the end and your muscles get an aweseome workout.

  • Just finished Level 3, Day 3 and I feel really proud of myself. Today I bumped myself up to 2.5 kilo (5.5 lb) weights and did about 85% of the moves with Anita. AND I finished all the way through without any breaks. I can't believe it!!!

Well I am still nursing my back, so no shredding for me. (My lower back completely seized up on Saturday while doing the rockstar jumps.) I have started walking in the afternoons (avoiding hills) and stretching my back after each walk. Because it is now day 4 without shredding I am going to give my back the rest of the week to recover and I will start level 3 over at day one on Sunday. I did not complete 25 days to have to quit, I will finish this and I will succeed at it!

Everyone keep up the good work!

Feeling better today. Woke up to a flatter stomach than last night so guess its more that something I'm eating is bloating me.

About to get day 5 out the way.

I think I read on here somewhere that Jillian recommends ripped in 30 over the 30 day shred, can't remember why. Will have a look at that other womans on Amazon. Thanks.
  • I finished 30 Day Shred on Tuesday! I only lost 3.5 pounds and 5 inches. I did gain a lot more muscle and toning, so I am happy. You cannot see too much difference in my after pictures. I have downloaded to my amazon library Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs and No More Trouble Zones and will alternate these when I feel I need more than the Zumba that I do about 3 times a week. I still would love to lose my other 15 pounds. It is much harder as hormones are changing, but I am trying to increase protein, reduce carbs, and now adding in more veggie fiber since I have been feeling bloated. I am trying to drink more water that the 8 cups also.

Keep working hard everyone! You can attain this first goal!

Finished Level 2 Day 16 this morning! I'm more than halfway through. It's amazing how each level feel so impossible at first but then after 5 days it's so much better. The one thing I hate about level 2 though, is doing the plank twists at the very end after all of that shoulder work! My abs have no problem doing the twists, I just can't hold myself up with my worn out arms by the end. Anyone else have that problem?
