Last year I did a panel at our local convention called 'Big and Beautiful Cosplay', teaching bigger people that they could cosplay too.
Now here I am, aiming to lose weight, and when I do, I'm SO cosplaying Seto Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!0 -

I believe everyone can cosplay, big or thin, everyone should do it if they want. For me personally, I'm losing weight so I feel healthy again, not particularly for cosplay (Although it is great motivation). I love my body, but I think it will appreciate me a bit more if I stop treating is like a trash can you know?! That's why I really despise those 'Top 5 worst cosplays' or those 'Fat people can't cosplay' threads and all that. They really do disgust me because everyone should and can cosplay, no matter their size, gender or nationality! Sorry for that, I rant a lot about cosplay discrimination!0 -

I understand what you mean, I think it should be everyone's ones personal choice. People should not judge other people just because they enjoy something. No one in America cares on Halloween if you don't fit what you are dressing up as :P. At the same time I prefer to only do cosplay that fits my current body, so for me it would be awesome to get down to a weight I could cosplay some of my favorite people. Like Balmung from .hack//sign, and Onizuka from GTODefinalty! An Avatar cosplay group would be AMAZING!

Totally true! Defianly agree! Yes, as I do too. I try to choose cosplays that fit my weight. I'm not particularly overweight but you won't see me wearing a cosplay that requires minimal clothing or a bikini of yet. Since we're showing cosplays, felt I should hope onto the wagon (Which is ironic since I just hopped onto my dad's wagon a moment ago!) XD

I'm cosplaying as Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony in less than a month. After that, it's Elizabeth from Bioshock infinite, Misa from Death note, James from Harry potter (Marauders Ver.) and then Hatsune Miku. SO much sewing! XD0

Either that or a High/Drow elf... or Zelda if I'm feeling particularly fun.
Failing that, I love anime and computer games. Hehe

I have never been to a comic/anime convention even though I would love to go one day. Honestly, one of my drives to getting fit is dressing up. I love Halloween and my last few costumes have been on the "nerdy" side.
Here is a comparison of me from Halloween '11 as Fionna from Adventure Time at around 200 lbs
vs.
Halloween '12 as Pinky Pie from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic at 165 lbs
And this year, since I have lost more weight, I am feeling confident in trying to pull off going as David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust era). When I told a co-worker about this, she decided that she will go as David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King from the Labyrinth. We want to get a whole bunch of people going as different versions of Bowie. :happy:
My husband is a gamer/fantasy/comic nerd which has kind of rubbed off a bit on me. I love super heroes and cartoons and game a little.

Haha yes it does! That night, I had run into a guy who went as Finn in his pajamas. I think it would be fun to dress up as Flame Princess sometime.

I'm a huge geek. ^_^ I don't plan on going to any conventions this year due to money issues. I agree that they are a great reason to shed some pounds, especially if you have costumes that you worked your *kitten* off to make that no longer fit your body!
+1 to that!! I'm looking forward to the next neko nation to dress up again...i just went as generic kitty this time :P

Oohh! I have a major interest in becoming one although, due to my size, nothing really fits me. I'm willing to spend the money on brands and such (Bodyline is good too) but I'm just too large to fit. I can't wait though! Becoming a Lolita is a major inspiration for me!0
