Darn reed switch seems to be the culprit of my bike. Ordered a new one so I guess we shall see if it works or if the bike needs to be put out onto the sidewalk. Hoping it comes soon so i can make my goal, still have 27 miles left0

July 1-7 = 8 hours, 5 minutes
July 8-14 = 3 hours, 15 minutes (Was out of town Thursday-Friday, so I was only able to ride Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday)
This week has been...
Monday - 2 hours (33.14 miles)
Tuesday - 30 minutes (7.1 miles)
Wednesday - 1 hour, 50 minutes (30.44 miles). Doing 50 minutes on the stationary this afternoon, and I will have about 45 minuets of commuting tonight.
Just looking to get back into the swing of things. Had a great week in June with about 18 hours of bike time. 15.5 working out, the rest commuting.0 -
Avid biker for the last 5 years, I ride 2-3 times a week commuting (12 miles one way) and then ride 40-80 miles (usually on Saturdays). So far for July I have 212 miles logged. Living in the Northwest I have to take advantage of the summer, so I ride a lot! During rainy season and winter I spin 2-3 times a week. Spinning is not riding, but it holds me over until better weather, and keeps the pounds off! Since I started riding I have noticed a big improvement in my health, I have lost weight, and I sleep better. Keep pushing those pedals! :happy:0

I'm agoraphobic and I feel like I've been making good progress recently since starting to cycle outside, it takes a lot of courage to get out there but I feel like I'm safe[ish] in my own world as long as I have on headphones and sunglasses and keep going, but I have to say I've been rather knocked this week tho :frown: When I cycled back from the gym on Wednesday some twats were yelling out of their car at me as they drove past trying to knock me off my bike (thankfully I had loud music on so I didn't really distract me), and today I cycled to my in-laws and I lightly dinged the bell on my bike as I was approaching some pedestrians on the cycle path to warn them that I was coming, and one of them nicely moved out of the way and he tried to pull his friend over, and as I cycle past I politely say thank you to them with a smile, and the guy that hadn't moved of his own accord starts ranting at me as I cycle away!! No idea what he was on about though but it didn't sound like a nice rant. Annoyingly when I went to cycle home I had the misfortune to leave just when they'd obviously just left the pub, but thankfully this time I was on the road!0 -

Just found this thread, I love biking have been doing it for almost a year now. I try to get out every evening and do a minimum of 10 miles per day always trying to push myself to go further. My problem is that I live in Florida and it's the rainy season so getting out is hard. Well since this month is almost over I hope I catch the next challenge I would love to join if one is done for August. Good luck to all and have fun!!!0

Hi guys, first post here on MyFitnessPal
I'm just about on track for my July cycling goal (1000mi/1680km), but it's starting to slip from me.
I did however just get a new bike on Saturday which is likely to boost my mileage! Half the weight of my old steel bike at 6.6 kilos, so it's difficult to concentrate on distance when I want to tackle climbs! Still, it must be done.
1233km down, 447 to go!
http://app.strava.com/athletes/8169710 -
I'll join in!
I will repair my mountain bike today, my plan for the week:
Monday July 22: 10 miles (will go walking somewhere 5 miles from here)
Thursday July 25: 20 miles or so (will do a MTB track with a friend! It's been months since I did that!)
That's it for now. Got a big deadline for my study, so I give that priority over more cycling. My target for August will be 125 miles (200 kilometres).
Regards,
Jasper0 -

Cheers! 30 miles per day for the next 9 days ought to do it. Just hope it doesn't rain so I can stay on the carbon wheels!
Good luck to all!0 -

I ended up having to take the weekend off of cycling and everything else. I blacked out on my ride thursday. Thankfully, I was off taking a break when it happened. After sitting for half an hour waiting for the dizziness to pass, I gave up in defeat and called my husband to come get me. Since then, I've had a little trouble getting my blood pressure back up. I think that I've had more powerade and sodium in the last 2 days than I have had in my whole life.
This morning, after my husband went to work, I snuck out and went for a ride. I kept it short, since I know he'll be grumpy with me.

Love this thread! I am so happy I found it (and that I'm back on myfitnesspal after a hiatus). I guess I'll tell you all a little about my riding background; My boyfriend bought me a Cannondale road bike for my birthday last December, but as I am a fair weather rider and didn't have any winter gear I waited until Spring to ride...still wasn't riding much. Recently I have been feeling really inspired to get in the saddle and train! I'm going to try and average between 70 and 90 miles a week if I can for this month. I have a Garmin Connect account if anyone is interested in connecting with me, let me know and I will give you my username! Happy trails (:0
