Well today I only got in 2 miles, came home from work late to find the temp in my apt at 82F- the AC unit had ice over it!
The maintenence people don't come at night for AC problems, so I took my hair drier to defrost it :laugh:
It worked! did 2 fast miles with the DVD in the heat :frown:
have 4 more days of work before I have a day off- I need to win the Mega Millions!
Kathy- what challenge are you gonna do? smart to change things up, helps with muscle confusion.

Plumsgrl - hope they were able to get your AC going again! An I hear ya bout the mega millions! lol
Pmjsmom - hope your weigh-in goes well. I was down 1 lb at my weigh in yesterday and this morning I was down 2 more. I'm scared to claim it though, especially since I had chinese takeout this evening. Very hard to come up with real calorie counts on that stuff but I guestimated the best I could. All that sodium is probably gonna hit me tomorrow.
Swerdy - glad to see your still with us and almost at your goal.
Queen - Your doing awesome with your walking. Hows Yoshi doing with the walking?
I did the 5 mile fat burning walk this morning. I need another one tonight (or the SIS) but probably won't make it.0 -
Another day, another 3 miles done- wish I wasn't working so much (60 hrs/wk) but it won't be forever, just another month or so.
Hard to do the SIS after working all day, and I just can't seem to drag myself out of bed to do it early:ohwell:
I would up fixing the AC myself, so at least it was cool tonight...

Didn't walk today, I wanted to try the Slim in 6 Ramp it Up!
Plumsgrl - your right the pace is better and yes she is still BOOORING! I'm gonna hafta find me something else I like better. Just not sure what it's gonna be yet. My iron is really starting to kick in and I think I'm going to see a litlle boost to the weight loss as a nice side affect. Been doing a little research and it does seem that low iron can slow how your body burns fuel, thyroid function, etc. So my infusion may kick it back up. It would really be nice to get a little extra burn since I'm only about 16 lbs from my original goal.0 -
I haven't posted in awhile but I don't think I am going to make my goal of 36 miles by the deadline since I cannot walk every day. I have done 5 miles though.
Can I still keep in with the challenge even if I don't make my goal??0 -
Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been here the last few days.
Plumsgirl--the challenge is at a different weight-loss site. I'm not sure of the details yet--I haven't been there this past weekend, either.
I'm glad you fixed your A/C. Is it still working? Do you know what caused it to ice up?
Sandara--my weigh-in was about as I expected--up 2 pounds! ARRGGHH!!! I'm going to stick to a specific calorie goal for a while and not worry about exercise calories or anything like that. My maintenance calories for my lifestyle and weight right now is about 1800 so I'm going to stick to that and continue exercising and see what happens.
iluvwdw--of course you can continue with us! As far as I am concerned, anyway, we are on a journey, not in a marathon! We are all in this together.
I've been revisiting some old routines I used to do--mostly online ones. Saturday I did the "Make Me Over 40 Minute Workout" from exercisetv.tv. It went better than I expected and for the first time in FOREVER I was able to do the pushups! They were the girly on-my-knees type, but I couldn't do them before! I guess the upper body stuff in Leslie's walking routines really do work the muscles!
Later on Saturday I went to Walmart and picked up Leslie's 5 Day Slim Down for my morning workout when I'm working. I also got a set of walking weights--just the 1 pound each ones, to kind of boost my walks a bit. I'm going to keep walking even though I plan on mixing things up a bit--especially on my days off.0 -

I did the WATP - 3 mile Boot Camp - Now my back hurts but it's probably because I did the SIS Ramp it up yesterday. Probably should have stuck to straight walking today.
iluvwdw - That's the great thing about this group. It's a go at your own pace. I didn't make my goal last month and may not make it this month either. But at least Im moving.
pmjsmom - I keep forgetting about the workout channel. I may try some of those workouts cause the Slim in 6 just ain't the one I wanna stick with. There is a thread on the Fitness and Exercise board about What's your favorite workout DVD. Some interesting stuff there to check out too.
Don't work too hard Plumsgrl! 60 hrs a week is ruff!
FYI - Queen's stepfather is in the hospital so she may be in and out for a while. Everybody send good thoughts her way!

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days, just wanted to take a few days off from work outs- will start back up on wednesday (one of my 2 days off this week)
Sandy- I changed my vitamins- same brand only with iron. Origionally forgot why I stopped, so ok it was constipation!!! :noway: so now I need to remember to eat my prunes again:ohwell: Also looking for a different type of workout routine. Doing some research on various sites, so I'll have to see. Let me know if you find something fun (everyone talks about zumba, but I think I have 2 left feet)and cheap
Kathy- Yep AC is good- I had used a different filter (filtreet) was supposed to be better but just not for this unit. Sorry your weight's up- I forgot to weigh in last week and this week I'm down over 2#s so that's ok with me (actually weighed in 2 days early).

pmjsmom - I forgot to tell you that the 5 day slim down is the one I got started with. Did one mile a day, the first mile. Then added one of the 2 thru 4 miles and finally worked up to 3 miles a day doing the first mile, one of the 2-4 miles and the 4th fast mile. It's a really good dvd and easy to customize to whatever you want to do. It's great for those 1 mile in the morning workouts too. Have fun!0

Thanks guys for keeping me. I can't ask my dr what I should be doing for walking cause she already told me only 5 mins per day. Seriously though where is that going to get me??
So I am trying to swim this week if the weather co-operates if not I will at least try to do a mile every other day. My hip pain has subsided since I've eased up on the walking. Maybe I will just go back to the wii fit free walk.

iluvwdw--are you able to do workout routines that are done in a sitting position? There are some online--a friend of mine with neuropathy does them. I can find out the sites for you if you can do them.
Why does she say 5 minutes a day? Would she be happy with 5 minutes at a time? That way you could do more but spread it out over the day.
I change my September goals (in my signature) to be more specific. I need this. I need to get back on track. August was SUCH a bad month for me but this is a new day and a new month.
I did Richard Simmons' Blast and Tone this morning and am going to downtown Olympia with my dd and the baby for a bit. I plan on doing 30 more minutes when I get back--probably one of my walking videos.

Hi Everyone! I"m still here, just haven't been walking. Seems like every week I've got a new complaint and I'm starting to sound like a whiner. This week it's a cold that my husband and son decided to share with me. Hopefully well enough by the long weekend ahead to get in some walking & exercising.0

I did the 4 Mile Super Challenge yesterday using my walking weights (1 pound each) for the first 3 miles for an added boost. I also did the Fat Burn video from exercise tv.tv. It's a 20 minutes cardio/strength training interval workout. I really liked it.0

Sorry I haven't been here for a few days- I took 3 days of no exercise ( except walking Plum) and ate whatever (somehow managed to stay under).
But I'm baaaaack!:laugh:
Yesterday I did 3 miles and another 3 miles today.
Just picked up walk off even more weight- 2x 2 mile with a weight belt, should prove interesting also looking for weight gloves to put a abigger challenge on my upper body.
Also did SIS 2x this week (think I'll be doing it EOD..that's all I can stand of her):ohwell:
Sandy-Sorry you're under the weather:flowerforyou: I Talked to someone from Beachbody here on line, and she agreed SIS most boaring! :noway: She recommened Hip Hop Abs or Turbo Jam , been looking on craigs list and finding some deals.

Sandy--I hope you are feeling better soon. There seem to be a lot of "bugs" going around here. I'm glad I work outside or I'd probably be sick, too!
I've been doing different workouts in the mornings (20-30 minutes worth) and walking in the afternoons after work. So far it's working out pretty well for my schedule.
Yesterday I did the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk and used 1 pound walking weights (hand) for the first 4 miles.
I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do today but I will soon. Have a good day, all.0 -
Just checking in to show that I'm still around and participating. Things were pretty crazy at work at the beginning of the week and I missed a few days walking, but I'm still on track to meet my goal by the 9th.

iluvwdw- I'm just putting this out there....don't want to offend or hurt your feelings....Richard Simmons has a workout video for people confined to wheelchairs. I think it might be something you could do without causing a lot of hip pain. Just a thought.0 -
How did you do in the Walk for the Month?
Hello: My name is Norma and it seems I have been trying to lose weight all my life, except for about 6 months when I lost with Nutri System, but gained it all back plus.
This program (Myfitnesspal) is working great, but I fell off the wagon in my logging for one month. I just picked it up back
again and plan to stay on the logging wagon from now on.
Hope you are doing good and hope you did goo in your SWaT Team Challenge.

Hey everybody, Finally got back to exercising today after having the "crud" and did the 5 Fat burning miles. Maybe I can keep on track for a while now. lol Fortunately it hasn't seemed to affect my weight loss.
Artamuso - Glad your still with us and 94 miles is AWESOME!
Plumsgrl - If you happen to find the leslie sansone Punch up your Walk kit it comes with weighted gloves and is well worth the price. It's a great workout but kind of hard to find right now. It was originally sold at Target but I think Costco had it during their sale a while back. But I have seen weighted gloves at Target or Walmart I think. I've been looking at the hip hop abs but scared to invest in another DVD I can't do. Let me know if you do get it and like it.
pmjsmom - I found some workout DVD's at a yardsale saturday but haven't had a chance to check them out yet. One is some kind of dancing and another is a set with 10 different workouts.

Hi everyone. I got 4 more miles in today which puts me past my month's goal of 50 miles. I think I'll try for 75 plus other workouts next time.
We have hooked up a different computer to the big screen tv (where I do most of my workouts) and now I need to put my videos on it--most of them are downloads. I can't seem to find a jump drive and I hope one turns up soon--we only have like 4 or 5!
Sandy--I love trying new dvds. I honestly never thought I see the day when I would say that!

Everybody's been quite the last few days! Hope you are all doing well. I've kind of fizzled here at the end of this month's challenge. I just can't seem to get back on the exercise train. It's my fault. My husband's been off work this week and it's just kind of gotten my routine all messed up but still no excuse. Somebody give me forty lashes with a wet noodle or something to get me moving again! :laugh:0

So, how did everyone do? I went over my goal but it was a smallish one for me.
I have joined a Thanksgiving challenge but will continue walking to Walt Disney World.
If someone would like to start a new thread for this one I will pop in every now and then.

I had a very good month! I went a little past my goal, and will try to push it a bit more in the coming month. If there is a SWat month 4, I'll probably join it. In the meantime, I'm continuing my virtual walk to Colorado.
