Honey Boo Boo; your thoughts?

I think it is shameful that this mother is exploiting this child. I think this kid will never live down the Honey Boo boo personna. I think she is going to grow up confused and troubled, and it will be her mother's fault.0

I don't watch it, but I read interviews about them -- apparently Mama June set up trusts for the girls and they live according to a financial plan -- so they live responsibly - so I mean, yeah. Make fun if these peeps all you want -- they seem happy and are getting paid.
Yes, they def live responsibly. Just look at them.
I have a tendency to not mistake how people eat and how they look with what they are worth as people. There are far worse fates in life than eating poorly, being overweight -- particularly if you are happy and loved.
Pretty sure they were dropped on their heads at birth though.
Never deliver standing up.0 -
I don't care either way. I don't watch it because I just don't find it entertaining. I wouldn't call it exploiting her child because while the show is centered around the kid, they are all in the spotlight. Beside, isn't it the same with all child actors? Should we not allow kids in movies and on tv now?0

I think most people see a child actor as playing a character who is not them. When you're in a reality show that is based on the principle of "let's make a show about this child because she's fat and ugly and retarded and her family are inbred and people like pointing and laughing at yokels!" at that sort of age then it's a very different game.0 -
I can't really say. She's a cute kid, but I honestly don't feel they need that kind of attention nationwide. At least not as young as she is. It can cause a good number of problems down the road.
Toddlers and Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo I toss in the same pile with 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. It's crap because it's 'reality' and it glorifies things that don't need to be. Why I say 'reality'? Yeah, it's real, but a good bit of it is actually scripted or they go over it with more enthusiasm to make it seem something that it isn't.0 -
I'd rather eat glass than watch Honey Boo Boo.
I agree with the above statement oh so very much! But still, you have to admit...
that family loves each other unconditionally... :drinker:0 -

I haven't watched the show. I've only seen clips here and there and I wasn't impressed, but I didn't see enough to come to such an astute judgment of other people and the way they live their life.
The only difference between this and scripted shows is the vocally judgmental people who will kill this girls self esteem before she even has a chance. I don't hear people talking about the way child actors look.0 -
I'm not really big on reality tv. Honey Boo Boo is just as bad as Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Either way they are selling themselves for money. Legal form of prostitution.
World English Dictionary
prostitute (ˈprɒstɪˌtjuːt)
— n
1. a woman who engages in sexual intercourse for money
2. a man who engages in such activity, esp in homosexual practices
3. a person who offers his talent or work for unworthy purposes
— vb
4. to offer (oneself or another) in sexual intercourse for money
5. to offer (a person, esp oneself, or a person's talent) for unworthy purposes
Please see #3 and #5.0 -
As long as people watch it, shows like that will remain on the air. I can't even watch the commercials for the show. Just seems like glorified stupid to me.0

Completely off-topic, but that "esp" is quite odd. So if you're a man you're more of a prostitute if you sell sex to a man than a woman? I didn't realise prostitution has a grading system.0 -

Not sure how it's glorified. Just seems like stupid stupid to me.0 -
Although some of the things they show are a bit repulsive lol, they are one of the most loving, caring families on current reality shows. They are always giving and doing things for the community around them.
In a way, they set a much better example than say, watching the Kardashians fight and curse at each other all the time.
Edited to say, I've only seen it a few times so I'm not a true fan...but I have seen worse reality TV...0 -

Kinda proud to say, I've never seen a second of the show.0

It's not really my type of reality show.0

Honey Boo Boo is a beacon of hope for the masses, a shining light in the darkness of a world full of cynics and rapey people...
Nah, I've never seen it.0 -
Never watched it. Never wanted to watch it.0

The hard truth sucks. If she's ugly and fat at that age, only the parents can be blamed... sorry, not ugly, just fat.0

I always thought to be one of the little pagent girls you had to be pretty and in a certain weight group.... so how this lil girl made it???
:noway:
Seriously, you should feel ashamed for what you just said. It's bad enough when adults body shame each other, but an adult doing it to a kid? :noway:
When people make their private lives public, shaming is fair. Their privacy wasn't invaded by papparazzi. Honey Boo Boo and her family are making good money by inviting all kinds of shaming, and they seem to enjoy the attention.0 -
The worst thing to ever hit television.0

I've never watched it. It's bad enough seeing the adverts. I'm not really sure who she actually is.0

trashy show and ppl are trashy on there0

For me that would be the kardashians. I don't watch HBB. I don't like what they represent BUT I did rather this poor family make money off of their "talent" than the obnoxious and self possessed kardashian clan.0 -

Seriously? You're pathetic. The pot's calling the kettle fat.0 -
I've seen a few episodes and it's amusing.
What really upsets me is all the virtiol for this little kid. I've seen so many hateful comments online about how fat and dumb she is, how she's going to end up teen mom with herpes or whatever... she's just a child! To be honest, i think she's a cute kid and I wish the best for her. And if you've ever seen Toddlers in Tiaras her mom was one of the more normal, supportive ones. She didn't seem to be pushing her kid into doing pageants or living vicariously through her.
I will not stand by 'sketti, though.0 -
All of you hateful adults, seriously?
I L-O-V-E Honey Boo Boo! I don't watch it to laugh at them, I watch it to laugh with them. Their family is real; they don't live in a mansion, have a clothing line, or have private jets and small islands! That's not even the point though. Let them be them, they know that they are heavy, but it doesn't get to them because they're living their life, and guess what all of you hateful people? They don't give a squat about your opinions!
You people fire me up, I can't believe all of you sick people.
I love you, Mama, Pumpkin, Chubbs, Sugar Bear, Chick-a-dee, and Honey Boo Boo!0 -

What she said was bad... your comment calling her a fat pot isn't any better either.0 -

Normal moms don't feed their kids go go juice to keep them energetic during the pageant.0 -

But clearly you do. Which is far more entertaining.0
