    I don't know what you do for a living but most offices have a no show policy regarding tattoos , so keep that in mind if you ever plan to work in a professional environment that you may have to always wear long sleeves to cover your ink. Also keep in mind that even if that does not apply to your life now, sometime in your future it may. Good luck either way!

    When I had a large upper arm tattoo done very few of my contemparies did. Now I have had mine removed and many of my girl friends have full sleeves. Some really beautiful designs of flowers and koi carp.

    But get used to wearing long sleeves AND sunscreen and staying in the shade in the summer (to stop them from fading).

    I have many tattoos but want a half sleeve. What are your opinions on them? If you have one, can I see your pics?!

    I think it looks good depending on the person. I have a tattoo on each arm (among other places), but I personally wouldn't get a sleeve.

    It looks really good on people that are younger, like 45 and under (maybe older depending on your arms). Otherwise think of when you're really old with bat wing arms.... Yikes! Just my opinion... The body wrinkles and ages and we all get that way eventually. You never see pictures of grannies sporting them for a reason. (Nothing "wrong" with it, just not my cup of tea)

    I have a half sleeve, would eventually like to get both arms fully sleeved! I think there is a picture of it in my profile - koi, cherry blossoms and a chrysanthemum :smile:

    I love tattoos on men and women. If it's something you want to do, go for it! Personally, I would make sure to give it some thought first and make sure it's something you want to have on you for the rest of your life. If the answer is yes, do it! And post pics afterwards!

    I'm a teacher, I have tattoos all up my arms, I wear long sleeves. No problem.

    Yeah, the reason is generational. Women old enough to be "Grannies" now, are from a time when it was not socially acceptable for women to have tattoos.

    And for everyone saying "think about when you're old", eff that. Life is for living NOW. Don't restrict yourself from doing something you want to do in life because it will impact on you when you're old. When I'm old I want to look back on my youth as a time in my life I did precisely whatever the **** I wanted to and enjoyed the hell out of. I got another thirty years in me until I hit my mid-fifties and they will look "bad"... In another 30 years after that I'll be dead. So who cares?

    Im working on my half sleeve and I am in my 30s - I dont regret it and since it is something I have thought out over years, then Im not likely to either!

    I am 31, been getting tattooed since I was 19, and while some of them weren't the best choices :laugh: I don't regret any of them, my half sleeve the least as it was the most thought out and planned of them!

    If you want to do it, spend a lot of time thinking about the design you want and disucss it with your tattoo artist and once you have something amazing go for it!

    I will be adding to my tattoos soon but find it so hard to decide what I want!

    I've seen plenty of great looking women with sleeves. They don't stop looking good in their thirties. They are either good tattoos that last, or they were **** from the beginning and you just didn't realize it because you were too young and dumb to think it out first.

    My tattoos are still nice thanks- and of course they dont stop looking good, if they are done right. My point was that a persons point of view changes from their twenties, and again into thier 40's - a tattoo is for life pretty much, as they are extremely painful and unsightly when removed not to mention expensive! So if your gonna do it be sure about it, cause if you regret it in 10 years time theres not much you can do about it- oh and I still say they look chavy on women! Thats my point of view!

    I don't have a sleeve but have 2 prominent tattoo's on my inner forearms which look great, I took years considering what designs to get so that I wouldn't regret them. They are part of me and help define me as a person so I could never regret them!

    There is a culture where you are "judged" for having ink as its a common thing especially on females which I say is Crap!! Is there a negative "stigma" attached to tattoo people, yes I do believe there is but like everything it will pass!

    Tattoos rock! and chicks with tattoos are HOT!

    I had my first tattoo when I was 14 and have had four others since. I doubt I would regret it as I don't regret a single one of the ones I have already. I don't care about when I'm older and I certainly don't expect to have 'bingo wings'...that's why I'm on MFP!! I have spoken to the tattooist and have my design. It's absolutely gorgeous and she is the best artist I have ever come across. I have young boys so I don't work at the moment but when I do, I can cover up - I only want a half sleeve anyway!! I just wanted to know what your opinions are and to hear about your experiences. In the end it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, I'm not doing it to please everyone. It's nice to hear opinions! Thanks for your comments. The lady is booked up until November so I will post pics after that!! :-D

    I'm so sick of getting hassled by people who are soooo concerned about what I will look like when I'm old. It's like they think old people are ugly, and think how much uglier YOU'LL be when you're old. Well I happen to think old people are the most interesting, to look at and to listen to. And if I seen one with a tattoo like any of mine, I'd jump with joy. I'm not accepted by the vast majority already, so why should I care. I'm comfortable. And if I make it to 80, chances are I'll be kinda cold and will generally get dressed to leave the house. I bet I'll be sickened that I have to do that :laugh:

    Get the sleeve, find your design, look at it for at least three months. If you're still excited and love staring at it, get it done somewhere GOOD (mine cost 500 euro, a backpiece, most places here would charge at most 300). If you have doubts, find a different design and look at it for 3 months. It took me 2 years to find mine :explode: but I have no regrets. Sleeves are my favourite tattoo on a woman, but I don't like my arms enough

    From my experience this is true, how people perceive you will change, a lot. I don't mind at all, way I look at it, it weeds out the ****s so I don't have to waste time talking to them. It becomes a fantastic talking point for meeting people that are open minded and actually worth talking to

    They dismiss me, not the other way around. And I don't have sleeves. I don't look at someone like they have poo on their face and shake my head because I think their blouse looks ridiculous. If someone is going to dismiss me purely for having tattoos, then they are not worth talking to. You should always give people a chance. Dismissing someone on such a thing IS closed minded, no matter how blunt you want to be in your one sided argument. I'd talk to anyone
