Hi everyone,
I have been sitting here trying to post, but I don't seem to have anything happy or pleasant to write about. Feeling kind of poopy. September was not a very good month for me due to eating so much pasta because nothing else was available to eat at my house. A friend took me to a store nearby, but it's not one I normally visit, because of it's high prices, But I bought some things to get me through until I can go to the place I normally shop at. I am back to having the same problem I did when I first started. I am not eating enough calories and am averaging around 1000. If I try to add anything extra I either go over in my carbohydrates or over on protein. It's very frustrating, because I know next week when I go to the doctors to weigh in that I wiil not do well. I don't feel like I have lost anything. Last month's weigh in I only lost 4 pounds, For the size I am and the amount of calories I am eating, I should be losing more. (The previous month I had lost 8 pounds) I know why I only lost 4 last month. I think it was because I wasnt eating enough. And now once again I am having the same problem. Add that with my week on pasta and I think I am going to do poorly. Oh and of course there is my old stand by around this time, I'm lonely. I feel like I am cut off from civilization sometimes because I don't have a car and can't walk any distance, so I feel like a hermit.
Maybe the reason I am feeling poopy is because I am pre-menstral. It always seems that my weigh in's are around my periods also. I don't know. I hate feeling like this and *****ing to you all about it. So I am not going to write for awhile, maybe a week, until I feel a little more peppy.
Everyone take care of yourselves, and your loved ones. :flowerforyou:

Good morning ladies,
I know some of you on west coast are still asleep. Well my cleanse is done, Now I just wait for test. I am scheduled for 11 am. wasnt too bad just aggravating to be awakened several times during night. Not as tired as I thought I would be. Kenneth went to gym. He has been too busy to go so he needed to go. I thought about it but only for a 1/2 second. I am hungry but not really that bad. I was not going to weigh until monday (which I have made my weigh in day) but I think when I go take my shower I am going to weigh just to see how much weight I took off if any. I feel lighter that is for sure. I plan to take it slow after procedure to add foods slowly. Keep all those toxins and bad stuff out of my body. Now have to find something to keep me busy for few hours until time to go. Have a good day ladies. Will post later after my good sleep.

Mom's caregiver called me the other day letting me know she is currently acting very childish, she doesn't like them coming in and waking her up in the morning to change her undergarments and the bedding (because she has soaked though it all):grumble: she wants to "sleep in". It's not like Mom is the only one in the Foster Home (there are 5 others) and they have other things to do during the day, besides she can always get in her recliner and go back to sleep I just am not getting it...her not wanting to get cleaned up in the morning...it's so not like the woman I know that raised me. But it was because of seeing her in this state where she can't take care of herself that I got on here at MFP to get healthier and more active...I WILL NOT BECOME MY MOTHER:noway:
Didn't get in any exercise yesterday as I had too many errands to run after work and didn't get home until after 6:30 then had dinner to fix...but there is always this afternoon...after my eye Dr appt and meeting hubby to get our flu shots. but I'd best get this payroll done or I won't get out of there on time.
Have a great day everyone:flowerforyou: exercise:drinker: log your food and drink your water:drinker: we will win this battle:flowerforyou:

 TGIF!!!! AGAIN!!! :noway: Time sure flies!!
The weather here in Rhode Island is beautiful! We plan to have 3 sunny days!!! YAY!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!:flowerforyou: I have some things planned....but the tricky one will be Sunday's Pancake Breakfast My grandsons , who are Cub Scouts, are sponsoring it to raise money for some of their projects. So, I'll just be careful and be moderate.
Someone asked about "trigger" foods, and how we know them. For me, they are the foods that I tend to overeat..... I will not have these foods in my house, and if that's selfish...then I guess I'm selfish:laugh: Most of us give so much of our time and love to our families....we OWE IT TO OURSELVES...to stay healthy. No one has yelled at me yet, or stopped visiting me (us) because I don't have junk in my house. I don't have cookies, pastry of any sort (pies, cakes, muffins, donuts etc) or Ice Cream. I do have lots of yummy fruits and jello...and if my grandsons really want a treat... they love to have cinnamon toast with a sprinkle of sugar.
I also don't like to have white bread, like french or italian bread because it's hard for me to have 1 piece and stop. That's how I can tell if it's a trigger food. I DO have whole wheat bread and crackers, peanut butter and jam etc as they don't seem to "call to me"
The pancakes might have been a challenge if I had them at home, but seeing as I'm going somewhere else to have them....and not bringing any home...then my chances are better. We DO have to live and make the best choices we can and if somethings sets us off....we can choose to just put THAT food on our Trigger Food List.
My weight has remained at 52 pounds off, and if I start gaining some back then I will "step back and regroup". But until then I'll just keep eating like my skinny friends! That's how they stay skinny
I will eat to live....not live to eat!
Take care and have a wonderful weekend!!!
I DID hear from MIMI and she was out of town for a few days. She is fine and I'm hoping she'll hop back on and post when she gets time!

Hello ladies,
Just a quick post to let you know that I got a message from Mimi. she is doing great. Just busy and didn't have internet for a while and then really busy again. I am sure she will pop in soon.
I am having a good day. I worked out hard and earned my glass or two of wine with dinner tonight. I made it thru the week without any so I think I deserve it.
I hope you all have a smiling day and enjoy your water, exercise and veggies.0 -
Good afternoon ladies,
My test is done. All is well. No pollups or anything unusual. Another one in 5 years. I actually watched the screen as they did the procedure. cant remember much of it but I know I watched. I heard the drs and nurses talking the whole time. Did not feel a thing though. Cant remember the dr coming in after or getting dressed but remember getting in car. Kind of scary huh to think that someone can give you something like that and you are so fuzzy you cant remember what was done. I slept for several hours and now waiting to go eat supper. I think we are going to Olive Garden so I can get soup and salad. I really feel good after having been cleaned out and I dont want to put any stuff back in that will set me off. NOt sure what will do it so will just tread lightly for a while with all whole foods, grains, chicken, fruits veggies. I lost 11 pounds since last tuesday when I went for consult. I know a lot of it is from cleanse but hopefully if I just watch carefully I can keep off most of that and keep going. Glad MiMI is doing well. I messaged Heather the other day and she also is doing well just very busy. says she reads sometimes but just doesnt post. I also messaged Anne but have not heard from her. That is unusual. I know this may sound morbid but maybe we should find a way to tell our loved ones that is something happens to us they can come on here and let the rest of us know. If we are the only ones who know we post here something could happen to one of us and we may never hear from us again. Just a thought. Anyone have any good ideas let us know. Have a good Friday and good weekend. We have long weekend here. Fall break for school kids. So Monday is real day off for me and just Emma on Tuesd.

Hello everyone, short stop in. Had a good day, short on some good food to take to work, but I did okay. Helped my sis get her study room set up, to late afterward to get to the gym. So tomorrow will have to do. Hope everyone has a good weekend, it may be the last nice weekend for a bit, I'm sure now we will be getting some very damp and cold weather for the ending of fall into winters start. catch everone tomorrow.

:flowerforyou: HI guys!
I know I said I wouldn't write for a week because I was feeling poopy, but today I feel great. I have a lot of energy and took Boo for a early walk this morning, which shocked her. (She didn't want to wake up) But once we got out there she was pumped and was peeing and pooping everywhere . Of course I was right there picking up right after her.
I heard from Mimi too last night. Same explanation. She said she will be writing soon. Looking forward to hearing from her again. I missed her very much.
Vicki:flowerforyou:
I agree with you. I think it would be a very good idea to inform a family member, if something goes wrong and we are unable to post for awhile, that they hop on and let us know what's what. I know I have been worrying like crazy about Mimi, because she is such a regular. Your mind starts thinking all kinds of things. Recently, I had a friend, who was part of our trio that hung out together, just disappear off the planet for like 3 months. My other friend and I had been calling her and emailing her repeatedly to no avail. I was really getting scared. Then yesterday, out of the blue, she calls me. She has been depressed and just shut herself off from everyone. She finally realized that she needed to talk and called. So we are all going to get together for lunch and let her vent. I am so glad she is all right though. So, yes I think that would be a great idea.

rjadams: Yes you do deserve it! It's always nice to do something special for yourself, like rewarding yourself with a glass of wine, just makes it that more enjoyable!0

:flowerforyou: Good evening Ladies, I know all about those Colonoscopys.:frown: I had my first one when I was about 20. ( I have had 5 over the years because there is a history of colon cancer in my family and I have symptoms every so often so they go in to remove Polyps) Having a Colonoscopy done was 100 times worse back in 1976. First of all let me tell you that they gave me NO drugs what so ever. :smokin: NONE not even a Tylenol. Picture this...John Hopkins Hospital,,,buck naked:blushing: ...kneeling on a step attached to the end of an examination table...the nurse tells you to bend at the waist and lay forward...she then straps you to the table. First across your shoulders, then across your waist and then she spreads your knees apart and straps each leg to the table. Then she proceeds to crank the end of the table up in the air so your butt is 5 feet off the ground and all the blood is rushing to your head...:embarassed: .in walks a doctor and 5 interns....:blushing: while your laying there with your dignity exposed for the world to see...they stand around discussing what they are going to do to you and why....they then proceed to spread your butt cheeks apart and shove a RIGID metal rod (with an air hose and light attached to the end) right up your a.....OUCH. (and he didn't even take me out to dinner first) You yell and the nurse threatens you with physical harm if you don't stop yelling....
I felt like someone was shoving a branding iron up to my chest. When they realized they couldn't go any further...(because of the Hemorrhoids I had up to the second sphincter in my bowels) they mercifully stopped. Sound like a horror movie....
Fast forward to 2010.... Ahhhh thank GOD for the advances in medicine now they have a flexible scope and they knock me out.
Thank you for all your well wishes. Love, Hugs, Prayers and have a wonderful weekend, Rose0 -
Good evening all. Had a nice dinner at Olive garden. grilled chicken, broccoli, wheat pasta, soup and water. did not get all my calories in but that would have been hard to do today.
Rose Oh MY, glad I got mine done in 2010 and not back then. How horrible. It is a wonder you ever went back. Emma and Heather and Byron are camping out here as Paw Paw put it because their dad is hunting. Going to say good night so I can read to emma before bed. Hope to sleep very well tonight.

Well, as sort-of expected, we didn't play the games. Most people just like to sit and chat. Oh well.... I was good, I only had one slice of pizza. But I do confess that I tried all the desserts. I feel badly if someone brings something and I don't at least try it. One lady brought a chocolate cake, another pumpkin loaf (I only took a small piece), one made some red velvet cupcakes (I only had one), and a sugar-free blueberry pie. The hubby of the other woman made this pumpkin dip made with FF cool whip. She brought ginger snaps to have with it (I only had one). I must admit, I'm not one for FF stuff. Give me a taste, but make it the real stuff. I know people are just being kind...they leave a lot of their food. Well, the soup pantry is getting a donation.
I bet I will show a gain tomorrow (my weigh in day) because we had dessert so late. But I have a feeling it won't be a real dramatic gain.
Sunday we're going to have our one neighbor over. They are real nice, whenever they go away we watch their house & water their plants. I'm having beef and chicken (for me), baked potatoes and sweet potatoes (for me), peas and carrots, shrimp bites, corn muffins, lemon muffins, I think I'll make an angel food/pineapple cake (for me), a key lime pie (for Vince). Hey, while the house is clean and I have all the stuff out (sugar, coffee, etc), why not do it?
Did an hour of the extreme pump today. Then I bowled 3 games. Boy, my follow-through REALLY needs work! Tomorrow...yoga.
Birdie - thanks for letting us know about Mimi. I was getting concerned.
vicki - I'm so glad all went well for you. I thought as long as you didn't have any polyps, then you didn't have to go again for 10 years! Now Vince had to go at 5 years because his last colonoscopy he had a polyp. I didn't have any, so I don't have to go again for another 5 years (that would be 10 from my last one)
Rose - was that REALLY what a colonoscopy was like? Sounds barbaric.
Hope everyone has a great night and day tomorrow.

Hello everyone,
I just finished reading some of the post and this sounds like the group for me mind if I join. I just joined the site today and so far I am very impressed with all that I have read. Setting goals is something that I definitly need to do. The goals will help me with my accountablity which I really need. Now I just need to realize what my goals for the month should be. roxanea0 -
Hi guys
Laura, I do so understand what you are going through with your mum! It's so difficult when you have elderly parents who need care, and for some reason they don't seem to 'be themselves' any more. Greg, my partner, is full time carer for his mum now in Adelaide Australia, and I keep returning to England to take a share of the caring of my dad in England! After a couple of weeks living with my dad I feel like I'm going crazy and I feel so guilty about it.... then I return to Australia to help with G's mum (who is on oxygen 24/7 plus is blind) and start going crazy there! Both 'elders' are ...... 'difficult' shall we say. But we are stuck with this situation until they 'pop off the perch' as G's mum says.... and we are willingly doing this - my dad was an amazing father to us, - Greg was adopted but he also has a sister (not adopted) and (by the way!) she does nothing to help. The palliative care nurse says it's normally left to one of the children but not normally the male....
Vicki M : so glad your results are good. I dread having colonoscopies but dread even more the possibility that there might be something wrong. I spent a lot of time in the abdominal wing of a hospital 12 years ago, when I had a high anterior resection and met some brave people who were in there - one woman I will never forget - she went in for an 'investigation' and was sent home 'to die' and she said to me "I'm going home to LIVE"..... Ever since then I've changed my attitude and quite frankly I make the most of every single day. (Plus I never eat processed foods....my specialist said to treat them as if they are poison). I thought I'd lose weight because I only had half my large intestine, but it doesn't work that way, sadly! Imagine my delight when after annual colonoscopies, 4 years ago my surgeon said "see you in 5 years".
Oh well... back to being a 'good girl'....(food and exercise wise, anyway ~smiles~)
All the best to everyone...
Dee

Good morning ladies. How are we all doing today?
I too heard from Mimi, I think she'll be back when she's got the time. She's just off being fabulous at the moment!
It is impossible to reply to everyone individually, but just a few comments ...
Chicklet, I'm glad you decided not to retreat for too long.
Rose, I also had a colonoscopy back in the dark ages. The ones that we have now are like a walk in the park in comparison! Plus, I hope you are feeling better after your episode.
Michele, you sound like me. I like to get all my entertaining over and done with after one big clean up! It makes me sound slovenly, but life's too short to be spent on constant housework.
Laura, a hug for you plus an extra one for your mum. She sounds a little confused right now - something we're going through with mum-in-law. Incidentally, I started my healthy journey because I don't want to become my mum (I even have it in my profile).
Barb, I wouldn't call myself a dynamo - far from it. I just like being organised (by the way - I've done ALL my Christmas shopping now and just have to wrap it!) Hopefully you have no repercussions after your little fall.
Suzyq,I bet that 2 pounds will be gone in a flash!
Laura, I meant to say - your new photo is amazing! I am extremely envious of your arms!
Robin, hugs to you and DH and well done on not falling into the emotional eating mire.
Jackie, I hope your mum is doing better. Oh, and how is quorn not in the scrabble dictionary?
Birdie, My trigger food is definitely bread - so I completly avoid it these days. I would love to have just one slice of toast, but know it would end up at four slices!
All newcomers - welcome. Anybody I haven't mentioned - I still carry you with me in my thoughts.
I had an hour in the pool on Thursday. Can't say I was swimming as it just doesn't seem to be coming to me. I have another lesson on Monday morning and will try to have at least one other trip to the pool later in the week.
At the end of this week I will be start my 'street walking'. It's not as bad as it sounds! It's just canvassing that I do each year around this time for one of the local councils. Actually, I couldn't do it last year as I was using one, sometimes two, walking sticks. Now I am raring to go and will enjoy the two or three hours of walking every evening. It also involves a lot of climbing stairs - bring it on!
Tomorrow is the baby shower for my DD and her twinnies. I caved in and bough half a dozen bottles of pink champagne for toasts. Hopefully that will be enough. My future daughter in law is making Moroccan mint tea, which I personally think is much more in keeping with the occasion. She's a delightful girl and we have all taken her to our hearts. Her parents are in Sri Lanka, so she doesn't really have any family other than us. DS is always amused that Krishni sends me texts every night before bedtime. I am blessed with wonderful children-in-law. Actually, on those lines I have quite a funny story to tell. DD#2s husband works just down the road from me and I occasionally drop in to see him when I'm passing around lunchtime. They have been married for ten years and he seems to have been around for his whole life (they were school friends), anyway he's another son to me (in my eyes anyway) and we have a really good relationship and share a similar sense of humour. So, I dropped in about a week ago and afterwards, one of his colleagues actually asked him if we were having an affair! Well, it made me laugh anyway!
I had my flu jab on Thursday and also had more blood taken yesterday. My appointment with the heart specialist is next week. Fingers crossed that I don't have to have the valve op just yet.
Time for me to hit the road and go and visit mum-in-law.
Have a good weekend my lovely friends.

This is such an active message board and you are such amazing women. It is going to be a steep climb to get to know you and keep up with you. I intend to hang in there with you and keep reaading for inspiration.
I am beginning to prepare to leave for vacation on Tuesday. If anyone has tips for how to maintain (or even loose???) weight on a cruise, please share.
Have a beautiful day.0 -
Happy Saturday, Ladies!
Roxanea: Welcome to a great, helpful place for support and friendship! I wish you great success on this journey.
Dzzy: I like the idea to treat processed food as poison. I do try to avoid it, but that idea will make it easier for sure!
Vicki: Glad that your procedure went well and you can focus on more pleasant things now!
Rose: Horrors, is right! I have had to have quite a few in the past 10 years for reasons like yours, BUT, THANKFULLY...not the way your first one was done...
Becky: Have a great time on your cruise. I cannot give advice on what to do on trips...I can give you advice on what NOT to do, however, as I am still getting rid of the extra pounds I gained on my last trip! Maybe that is the motivation you need?
Amanda: Glad that you have things set for the shower. Have fun and look forward to hearing about it!
Jackie: It is great to hear from you again! Take care of yourself as well as your Mother.
Laura: Thinking of you with your care-taking role too
SuzyQ: I'll bet the 2 pounds are new muscle!
Chicklet: Good to hear you're feeling better and helping someone else too
Yes, it was good to hear from Mimi, wasn't it? I know how difficult it is to keep up when you are traveling or entertaining. And I like the idea of letting someone in the family know to check in for you if you aren't able to...
Youngest son, his girlfriend and only one of his friends made it in from airport about 2AM last night/this morning. 3 others missed flights and will, hopefully, get in some time this morning. The wedding is at 5:30 and it is 2 hours round trip to Savannah airport, so today could get a little crazy. We had planned an outdoor lunch with shrimp, crab, salad and some little hot ham rolls that I made yesterday, but if the others don't make it I may save that for tomorrow. Hope the shrimp will still be fresh!?
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! I am glad that you are here Kackie0 -

Bmcg - My only advise is moderation. There is going to be so much food on the cruise. Watch your portions and choose your cheats carefully. Be mindful about what you are eating. Exercise when ever you can. More than anything, enjoy the cruise! Life will be waiting for you when you get back.

PS: I hope everyone is doing well. I'm just going to jump back in current after missing 3 days. I am glad for the update on Mimi.0 -
Just a quick in and out. We're home!! Travelling for 2 months was a blast but being home is wonderful too. Now I must get the mail do laundry etc etc. I'll be back tonight and log food etc and read a little. No way I can get caught up so I'll just jump back in.
Thanks Mimi for answering all us worriers - we just missed you!
I have lost weight while being gone. NOt sure how much as my home scale isn't very accurate. I normally weigh at the gym which is closing. Hopefully I can pop in there and see where I am at and them ==n either buy a good scale or find somewhere else to weigh myself.
Have a good day all!

Just by the post that I have read so far this is a very active group. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
I just want to share with all of you a little about myself. I have been married to the same wonderful and supportful man for 31 years. I have two wonderful children a son who turned 30 last month and a daughter who turned 28 the first of this month. My daughter has given me two beautiful granddaughters ages 3 and 7. I have the privliage of providing daycare for my granddaughters during the week and they are the reason I joined this site. I need to loose these extra pounds of body fat and be in better health so I can keep up with the December and Lexi my granddaughters.
Everyone have a wonderful day.0 -

Hello Ladies,
My name is Genie and I'm new to the boards. I'm 61 years old and have had a significant weight gain that I know is really not good for my health or arthritis. I'm really hoping to get back on track and release some of this stress through exercising, and support.0 -
Well I guess muscle weighs more than flab because after doing Zumba Flat Abs daily for a week straight I finally lost 1 of the 2 pounds I gained back, plus I'm down 1" in my waist and 1 1/2" in my belly.
The only difference is my exercise: I WAS attending a zumba class twice a week and walking the other days; resting on Sunday. Now I've added the abs workout on the days we don't have class. Its mostly just twisting and crunches to really fun music. I've also learned to save enough carbs for a small box of raisins about half and hour before I work out so I have plenty of energy to give it all I've got.
Oh how I'd love to shock my best friend by being toned enough to wear a 2 piece at the beach in 3 weeks! Last time we were there together I wore a 16W tummy firming 1 piece. If not, I'll just wear my tankini. If its humanly possible to be a size 8 by then, I plan to do it! :drinker:
Welcome to the new ladies! :drinker: Hubby just left for work so its time to go tone those abs :glasses:0 -

I was just wondering. The Zumba Flat Abs, is that a DVD or a class also? I would like to try an exercise that is not hard on my knees. I am afraid I cant do the zumba class at this time, but would like to do something for my tummy and belly. I am walking further now than I ever have, but it is still nothing compared to what you all do. Still it is an achievement for me.
Thanks

bcmg,
The only way you can be sure of losing on a cruise is to either lock yourself in your cabin when the dining room is open, or arrange with the cruise line to work off whatever you eat by swimming alongside the boat for a couple of hours after dinner.:noway: :noway: :noway: :noway:
Those who know me will realize I am being facetious. Those who don't know me should be able to figure it out as well
Suzzeque,
Congrats on the loss of inches. BTW, keep forgetting to ask how your hubby is doing. I recall a while back, you reported he made some changes in what he was eating and had lost a few lbs., but you haven't mentioned anything about it lately. Hope all is well with him.
I ran around all day like a crazy person, trying to do my own errands and my mom's, plus we started at 9am with haircut appointments for both of us. I don't usually schedule them that early, but it was the only slot she had with two appointments together, since it was Saturday.
Doggies are pesky as ever. I came home from my wanderings of the day and discovered I was on the new "Pepper and Bradley weight loss program." :noway: What is that, you ask? Well, as soon as I sat down in my living room chair, I had a Shih tzu and a Yorkie in my lap, and they refused to move so I could get up and make dinner!!!   Eventually, I tricked them, by asking "Are there any hungry little doggies around here?" Since they all understand what "hungry" means, I suddenly had no trouble getting up, and before I did, I was getting strong "verbal encouragement" from Mai Li to get to the kitchen ASAP!!   And because I am a good momma (and I like peace and quiet:bigsmile: ) the doggies got THEIR dinner before I made my own.:ohwell:
I am going to call it a night. Have a good Sunday.

Happy 10/10/10 ladies.
Today would have been my dear mum's 75th birthday - which she would have hated and denied (she was perennially 39!) I woke with a tear in my eye thinking about her. I said happy birthday to her and then turned my thoughts to my DD's baby shower, which is this afternoon. The circle of life! My mum would have been so proud to have been a grand-grandma, especially to twins. I was one of triplets, but I was the only survivor. I constantly have to remind myself that a lot of advances have been made in the last 51 years and that my daughter and my grandtwins are going to be fine. Until I hold them in my arms, I will not rest easy.
As you can probably tell, I am feeling more than a tad emotional today. It's a good job that I've got a busy time ahead. I want to pop to the cemetery to visit mum before I go over to my daughter.
Won't say any more right now as the tears have started again.
Bless you all.

Well, as usual I haven't posted in a while and now have to try to play catch-up! Hopefully I will have more time to post when my job ends for the season on the 22nd.
First I want to welcome all of our new people!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: You have found the BEST group on the whole web!
Michelle--I hope you and your hubby are dealing well with the loss of Sadie. It is so hard to have to make those kinds of decisions.
Vicki M--I am happy all went well with your colonoscopy and the you get to keep some of that weight off. You certainly deserve to after having to go through the prep for it!:drinker: :drinker:
Chicklet--it sounds like you are feeling better. Try to keep your spirits up and remember that we all care about you!
Amanda--Have a good time at the baby shower. I truly believe that your dear mum will be there with you. This may sound a bit silly but somewhere I got the idea that our dear departed ones cuddle the new baby souls while they are preparing to be born.:smooched: I really don't know where I ever got this idea but it is one that I like and so I have kept it!:blushing:
Well, I know I have missed a WHOLE LOT of you but know that I think of you often and say little prayers as I read all your concerns.
Have a wonderful and healthy day!0 -
Welcome back Faye! Can’t wait to hear about your travels.
Roxanea – Thanks for the intro. It’s always nice to get to know the ladies posting here.
LaurelFisher – ha,ha,ha. Thanks for the chuckle. So true about computers.
Tippi- Welcome. I just found out I have arthritis and I’m just starting to learn about what I can do about it. This is a great group.
Suezzzque – I do abs every other day and it has made a big difference. I admit to doing wimpy ab exercises, but they still help if done regularly. I hope you do shock your BF at the beach. I know you can.
Barb – we all appreciate your humor. It brightens my day.
Amanda – Thanks for sharing your feelings. Things have changed. Your DD and grand twins will be fine, but we understand your worries. I’d feel the same way.
I will post my update later. I do have some veggie news and yes, my ticker did move again.

Hello friends,
I've been MIA for a few weeks and apologize for worrying you. It's WONDERFUL to be missed though. Thank you for all the kind words. First, I was off visiting family then, when I got back home, I waded into some paperwork that needed to get done (taxes) and helped my sister with some advertising and the website for her and her husband's business. By that time, I needed hours to catch up with you.
As Barb said and i've always remembered, we are a bunch of prolific posters aka gabby broads. I've always been an "all or nothing" kind of gal. It's time to learn to hit the middle. (I'm a late bloomer!) With that in mind, I'm saying a quick (for me! ) "Hello" and, as many of you have suggested, jumping back in without trying to catch up. (I did skim the posts so far for this month though and please know that I'm thinking of all of you.)
I was tickled to read in so many of your notes how you're enjoying veggies. You know that old saying we see on too many birthday cards, "like a fine wine, we're getting better, not older"? It's true. We are! But it's not just happening. We're MAKING it happen! Who would have imagined in the bad old days that we'd be eating healthful food and enjoying it so much? :noway: I still fight to resist a few foods. Snack-y things are the worst. But, with good support and eating lots of yummy, healthful stuff, I'm winning. Wow.
Yesterday, I saw an aunt I hadn't seen for maybe a year She didn't know I'd been working on losing weight. She teared up when she saw me. Talk about feeling good and crying at the same time. Those reminders are good to have. I was starting to feel fat and unattractive again. It's funny how that can happen with 140 lbs to lose or 40. Same dynamic. After seeing my aunt and reconnecting with you, I'm smiling and feeling pretty darned good.
I did enjoy relaxing about food for a few weeks. I didn't log what I ate but did focus on eating fruits and veggies. The best news is that I maintained! That is a first for me. It's an awesome feeling. Not as awesome as losing, but awesome nonetheless! I'm ready now to get going on the remaining 40 lbs. Exercise will be a big part as, without it, I have to stick to 1200 calories to lose and that is not happening! For me, 1400 calories works much better.
Next Friday, is my niece's wedding down in the SF Bay Area. (Did I tell you, their first kiss will be when they're pronounced husband and wife. Truly. Sounds crazy but I think it will work for them. They aren't even weird. Well...maybe a little!) The following week, the friend I didn't get to visit last month (when I'd hoped to see Robin and Barb) will be here, so we'll be spending a few days together. Then it will be up to Lake Tahoe with my folks for a week or two.
I'll do my best to check in but, even when I don't, please know that you'll be in my thoughts. I treasure you.
p.s. Reading over my post, I realized I sounded a little cavalier. It's not a very friendly thing to just drop out of sight for weeks. The reality of losing weight, changing my appearance completely (from fuddy duddy matron to slightly hip grandma) being so intensely focused for so long, etc., etc. just kind of caught up with me. That's probably the real story behind the story. Despite disappearing for a few weeks, I do treasure you. This group and you, individually, are one of the best things in my life.0
