made one of my favorite afternoon snacks and decided to use it as an excuse to practice my photography a little. one honeycrisp apple cut into bite sized pieces and tossed with a couple of tablespoons of creamy peanut butter. i used to just eat them as sliced and dip them into the pb, but this way lets me shovel them into my face even faster so it's a win.
I'm really ticked that you have a honeycrisp apple. I've looked all over town and no one has them in. Your photo is very artful! I like!0 -
OMG you people sure know how to eat ... looking at all this yummy food i felt as if i don't even eat ...
what an inspiration0 -
3 of those and an apple = 554 calories0

You might try looking for sweetango apples - they are a honeycrisp hybrid and are super tasty. Pink ladies are really nice too! And thanks0 -

If you live in a somewhat rural area try checking out Upick farms. Im in the Pacific Northwest and went apple picking last weekened.. they had organic honeycrisp apples that were GINORMOUS... and only 10 bucks for as many as you could get into a 5gallon pail (it was a LOT of freaking apples!)0 -
Battered haggis, rice, scraps of batter and Chinese curry sauce. So very very wrong but also very right.0 -
made these just to put on my blog. i'm not even that into pumpkin desserts but i have to say these are pretty amazing (and major calorie bombs, hah). pumpkin spice scones with browned butter icing.

I apologise for the ginarmous post that is going to ensue
1. 2 fried eggs with pan fried mushrooms, spinach, tomato and bell pepper. Last dinner I made during our trip to Prague
2. Mafé (Maafe) - african peanut butter stew (which does not taste like peanut by the way - on rice, with radishes and arugula. Prepared by my guinean Godmother - simply luscious
3. Mussels à la Marinière, with a side of steak fries and a dollop of citrus mayo - inspired by the Braderie de Lille, an incredibly large market that occurs once a year in the north of France
4. Mafé (Maafe) mixed with rice and boiled zucchini - it was good but I won't mix it again. Cooked by me this time.
5. Pan fried/sauteed leftover boiled potato with zucchini and a slice of turkey ham
6. Bean medley (Kidney, flageolet and fava (which were eaten away) on arugula with turkey ham
7. Pan fried apple rings with a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon and butter with a cup of coffee
8. Bread balls plain or filled with leftover mozzarella, encrusted with oregano and/or parmesan and/or sea salt, with sun dried tomatoes, orange bell pepper and turkey ham
9. Lightened up liege waffles aka almost bread waffles inspired by SassyEarlGrey's recipe. One with pearl sugar, the other with poppyseed and lemon. Will up the lemon the next time.
10. Potato 'rösti' with turkey ham - it was okay
11. French sultana bread (Escargot/pain aux raisins) with coffee - had two more to please my mother but I have eaten better ones. Oh well :ohwell:
12. Chili tuna pizza with a side of field salad - it was GOOD
13. Ear of corn on the cob, julienned leftover zucchini with leftover tomato sauce seasoned with oregano (was surprisingly good) and turkey ham
14. Turkey or Chicken breast on pan fried mushrooms and lettuce, slice of bread
15. Scampi with radishes and lettuce, side of store bought octopus salad
Most recent eats...
16. Experimental combination of raspberry jam, raspberries, pear, prosciutto and chavroux (goat cheese spread) grilled sandwich with a side of salad. Pleasantly tasty, will definitely make again.
17. Brother's birthday apple puff pastry pie - had 1/6 of it
18. First attempt at pita making - still have to tweak something as it didn't create an even air pocked but oh well. Topped with homemade mint labneh, sliced radishes and cucumber
19. Lightly pan fried falafel on previously pictured pita - compromise to avoid deep frying. It was tasty, but will first be baked then pan fried next time as they did not cook through correctly
And finally 20. Leftover beef steak sauteed with zucchini in a soy sauce/brown sugar/chili sauce, on arugula with a leftover pita

The irony is that the first recipe on 'switch to real food' was 'warm fake egg salad'. Blugh.0 -
I had Vegetable Chirashi Sushi with mini bowl of clear udon soup as a side. I proclaim it is "the best" vegetarian dish I had in my life.
BTW, can anyone who knows about sushi tell me how calories it is? I think I went wayyyy overboard today with this dish, was going to weight the food but the table there is too small to whip up my scale on the table so I didn't weight any food there .0 -
