I'm a runner (I do a lot of sprint HITT stuff, race 5Ks, and never really go for more than 10 miles if I do a distance run, but those are only about once or twice a month)
The thread is not about your routine.
How do you know if someone is a runner.............oh they will tell you

    LMAO

Runners sure do like to advertise their obsession ;)

Sure but so do lifters

I'd be interested to hear the context of the original comment. It seems like an odd thing to say to someone particularly if it's directed at them.

There's a lot of things I don't find attractive and don't need to find attractive but it's not really considered socially acceptable to point out those things out on the people that have them.

Definition is sexy. Being in shape is sexy.

Everyone who has legs has quadraceps and it's ok to be lean enough to see their shape, at the very least which is all most women will every see. Unless you're a world class athlete or female bodybuilder then most women aren't going to see any separation, vascularity, or any of the more dramatic looking "definition" that is what most of society will deem not sexy on women.

People are basically insecure so the moment they see someone in the kind of condition they'll never be able to obtain because they lack the discipline, they'll be very critical of it.

People who say things like that are trying to bring you down because they're jealous of where you are. Don't let them! Set your own standards and reach your own goals; you go girl!

Did a female or male say this? Anyway, I imagine that's what people without quad definition say to make themselves feel better.

    :drinker:

My new favorite quote from Go Kaleo, https://www.facebook.com/gokaleo
Here's a novel concept: YOU get to decide what is healthy, sexy and beautiful when it comes to your own body.

And the reality is that no matter what you decide, someone will tell you you're wrong.

But, someone else will think you're perfect. When you do what YOU love, when you live the life YOU want, when you portray the image YOU want to portray, there will be someone (probably a lot of someones, actually) who are looking for those qualities in a friend, or partner.

Don't live for the people telling you you're wrong. Live for yourself, and the people who love the qualities you possess will be drawn to you.

Well, you can't please everyone, and you'll just have to come to terms that some parts of your body don't have universal appeal.

And neither do anyone else's...including the person making that rude comment (maybe next time, you should remind them of that simple fact).

Is this some sort of humblebragging thing to get compliments? Who cares, different people find different things attractive. I know my quads make me feel attractive and that's all that matters.

I think I am a bit late to the chorus - but your quads are really sexy!! You should feel no sting.

    Wear shorter shorts next time!

People are idiots: who cares what they like or dislike?

What do you like OP? That's the only important opinion for you.

Did you remind the person who said that that women are people, not decorative objects?

Thank you. My muscles are evidence of the things I can do (run, squat, lift heavy weights, my cardiovascular endurance) and my low body fat. I am not here as a cardboard cut out for men to gawk at and drool over. Besides I only want one  so if the rest don't find me attractive they can *rude word* off.
  • Tell him that *you* find your quads appealing, and that's all that matters, and then strangle him with your awesome thighs.

    ^This...Very much this!

Muscle definition is way better than the soft fat that accumulates over a woman's knee at a certain age -
    Keep up the good workouts!

Usually, people who refer to adult women as girls don't respect women a whole lot.

(And yes, I know it depends on context, but just saying)

I think quads are one of the best muscles on women. If someone doesn't like them they can look the other way.

Or be mauled by rabid penguins. Either or

I strongly disagree... Probably just another attempt to sabotage you out of jealousy.

Easynamey is allowed his opinion. The original post did kind of put it out there for opinions on muscle definition. Just because he doesn't like them doesn't mean he's misogynistic. Personally, I'm not attracted to tall, slim men. I prefer short, thick muscle bears. That says nothing about my background other than I like short, thick men. Good think my husband it 5'2" and barrel chested I guess

If you're going to start something, don't expect everyone to jump on and stroke your ego. I think quads on a woman are kick *kitten* and wish I had bigger ones but let's all stop pretending we iike the same things and HAVE to like the same things. Just because someones views differ from the majority on this board is no reason to figuratively burn them at the stake unless you are all so invested in sparing the OPs delicate feelings.

I guess it's a good thing you didn't sprout those quads just to please that *kitten*....

Yep, got this much appreciated comment today. I happen to think muscle and definition is a highly attractive feature in women. To each his own I suppose. But ouch; I'll admit, that one stung.

Must of been from someone who's opinion you really care about if it stung. If not, shed it.

I was told by a girl in my ballet class (who is about 13 years old) that my legs almost look gross because of their muscles. Despite the fact that my muscles make me a strong dancer. I feel sorry for her and the ideal body image that's been ingrained in her head.

I believe it's perfectly acceptable to dislike defined quad muscles on women. Just like I think it's ok to not be attracted to certain things on ANYONE, and that people are entitled to their own opinions and preferences.

What's really stupid is that someone needs to make a point of telling you what they dislike about you. That's just someone who's rude so their opinion counts even less.

I liked this comment. I agree with this.

    Quads are great.

Woman who are strong are great.

    Muscle definition is great too.

Now for anyone who thinks it's weird or gross or whatever they feel they can have their opinion but don't expect that type of opinion to be accepted gladly here. There are a lot of woman (and men) who work very hard to have those muscles and put in a lot of time and dedication. To have their body shamed is not a good thing.

It's the equivalent of looking at an overweight person and telling them they are gross, disgusting or weird. Doesn't fly.

So regardless of the opinions or the refusal to change them it is best to refrain from speaking them out loud as you will get handed your butt on a platter.

PS Fitness and muscular dfinition are not identical no but most here who lift are fit as well and very healthy due to careful nutrition and other activities they partake in so forget the semantics and give up that argument and lets move on.

PPS calling the mods out is not a good idea either...take your slap with grace and move on.

I love dancer's legs. Just love them. Male and female dancer's legs are amazing!!! Soooo toned and lovely, and shown off beautifully by the tights  Not such a fan of the fact that dancers basically have to starve themselves, but they have amazing legs!

<-- Who cares what other people think? Strong legs rock . They can carry the weight of the world and can go the distance.

Wait! Someone called the mods because someone else had the audacity to have a differing opinion? While I may not share the differing opinion, it shows a real lack of backbone to 'tell' on him. What he posted wasn't offensive. It was an opinion. I didn't realize we all had to line up like good sheep and stroke each others egos.
