    Congrats on your loss.

I am losing on 1600/day (more when I exercise) while enjoying my very high in sugar  White Mocha. Gonna stick to my plan!!

I wonder how you lose on high sugar. If I did that, my weight would escalate. I drink my tea and coffee with no sugar. Have you heard about insulin resistance? you should check it out!

Maybe you should do some research.

Are you insulin resistant? As diagnosed by a medical professional?

Oh no i have not been diagnosed. I am just convinced I am from all what i have read. Maybe am being a lil paranoid but i seriously want to abstain from sugar for a while during this weight loss process. I have been told its not the enemy but I think it is to me much more than fat.

What do you mean "abstain from sugar"? How are you going to do that?

I meant artificial sugar. I plan on eating fruits and all, but i am going to try to abstain from man made sugar

    Congratulations on your weight loss.

A word of warning about artificial sugar--they will often affect people the same way as granulated sugar does. , Sugar substitutes often cause hunger too. Being sensitive to granulated since I was a kid (see prior post), I speak from experience. :)

When I was eating a bunch of sweets I put on weight, but that is because baked and processed goods with sugar generally have loads of calories. The more sweets I ate, the hungrier I was and the more I craved sugary foods. I don't know if this is a normal reaction or not, but it became way too normal for me. I also have a lot of diabetes in my bloodline so that's another reason for me to limit the sugar intake.

No you put on weight because you ate more calories than you burned. Nothing more.

Are we talking about sugar? Because I'm about to take down two giant cookies and some ice cream tonight, and I peeked at my sugar and it's all "over 100" and stuff.

    Am I gonna die?

Oh gosh. If I ate that I would soar and then crash and end up with a headache.

Please enjoy your cookies and ice cream for me.

If you have a significant amount to lose like I did, 1200 calories is not the answer, I started out eating 1600, things slowed down so I moved to 1400, now I'm doing 1200 to get the last 7 lbs off. I've worked out and still workout, the thing about working out, especially if you are a larger person, it helps with loose skin. I have barely any at all.

Not everyone works the same way, but for me, at 5'1.5 and 220 lbs 1200 calories was not enough, now at 5'1.5 and 117 lbs, 1200 calories works perfectly fine and I'm satisfied and full.
  • im sedentARY NOW BEACSUE MY BIKE DOESNT WORK ANYMORE AND CANT GO TO THE GYM :( I DO GET HUNGRY THO JUST EATING 1200 CAL A DAY I CAN HARDLY STAY ON THAT. READING WHAT YOU JUST POSTED DOES GIVE ME ALITTLE BIT OF MOTIVATION TO STAY ON TRACK.

Isn't that what I basically said in the part of my prior post you didn't quote?

You seemed to missed the point that not all people react to processed sugar the same.

I just lost 4lbs in one week eating 1200cals a day. No exercise. I just want to say it really works. You should try it! Just one week and see the difference. Now am eager to get on with my weight loss. I wasn't losing any weight at first because of my diet. Now I can do and so can you!

I eat 1200 calories myself, but mostly because I am in my 60's and am 5 feet tall. I would never suggest ( or maybe brag is a better word) to anyone to eat 1200 calories so they could lose 4 pounds in a week. I find it irresponsible unless someone is is short and has a lot to lose; and I do . I eat 12000 with a BMR of 1370 but I would never suggest so someone I don't know, or a whole forum in general to eat such relatively low calories.

Do what is best for you. The main thing is to eat healthy foods and controlled portions. You can have the candy, cake and other not good for you foods  if you eat the serving size only when you crave them Just remember to not go over your 1200 calories a day. I have been following a caloric plan of 1200 per day and have seen results. I have lost 14 pounds and it works for me. Wishing you the best on your weight loss journey, Everybody has a story to tell but, each person's story may be different. DO YOU AND ENJOY YOURSELF WHILE DOING IT.:flowerforyou: Congrats on having twins. My goddaughter has a set (boys) and they are a blessing. :-)

Congrats on your loss! I see you have lost 8 lbs and that is great! I eat a MINIMUM of 1200 calories but eat between 1200-1600 calories. I have lost 18 lbs in 4 weeks. Great job and keep it up!

What was that about sarcasm and negativity?

I've lost over 35lb so far this year eating 2000 calories a day, so no you don't HAVE to live at 1200.

And I'm sorry, but I have to agree with other posters that you can't call it a success story when you're only a week in.

Oh no i wasn't trying to be sarcastic. You totally got me wrong. By the way congrats. I was only sharing what i thought sugar would do to me coz i have a sweet tooth. Am just saying for those who are sedentry, if they really stick to 1200/day, they would lose weight. its difficult ofcourse but if you try just one week, strictly, it works. Obviously if i was exercising like yourself, I wouldn't eat only 1200cal. Congrats on ur 35lbs. I aim to lose 30lbs

After you lose the 30 pounds - how will you maintain?.
I am banking on you eating 1200 cals a day?.
Err, for the rest of your life that is.
1200 cals for the rest of your life.
    Fantastic life.
You got it all worked out.
    Well done.
    Awesome.

well thats a silly way to look at it! who eats a deficit once they reach maintenance, wether its 1200 or 1400... when you reach goal, you transition. why would she eat at 1200 for the rest of her life? i lost all my weight in 11 months on 1200 per day most days, with 2 high calorie days per month... now im on maintenance at an average of 2000 calories per day with no problems... why do you tell all the the people who eat 1200 that they will need to eat that way for a lifetime? thats not true, thats a lie. when your losing, you eat at a deficit... when your maintaining, you eat at maintenance. not everyone has to agree with 1200 per day, but my god, to be so "my way or the highway" is silly, since many of us have had great success on 1200 per day...

i live slightly further south than you and its not winter yet. I notice that you say that this time of year can cause depression but the best thing is to get out and go for a walk. If your twins are walking take them to the park and kick leaves. If they are too small put them in the pushchair, wrap them up and take them for a walk.

The fresh air will do you all some good and helps with the winter blues.

Congrats on the loss, and having twins at any age is going to be hard work, even if they are not running around a park yet, when my son was little he was hard work on his own as I was constantly on the go!

However I have to stress the 1200 may have worked for you for now, but long term it wont, and just a word of warning be careful what you are encouraging people to do, for example I normally burn around 1000k a day, sometimes more, although my MFP is set to 1200, I could never ever entertain eating that with that kind of burn and some people who are new like yourself may read this and think its ok to burn 1000k and only eat 1200 as you suggested, therefore netting 200 calories, NOT good, just be careful what you are encouraging people to do is all I say, but I say that to everyone about everything!

Even on lazy days I eat around 1600 calories, I to am in the UK, weather doesnt stop me, and it did not stop me wrapping my son up and taking him out, as long as the kids are warm and dry, get out there!!!

Also you could try an at home dvd like 30DS or something?

Dont mean to sound negative at all incase thats how you take it, but its important to really think of what we are advising others to do, afterall we are not specialists, however if you carefully think about what a lot of posters on here say you will find some excellent advice, there is much on this thread :-)

Good luck, feel free to add me if you wish.

Going from 1200 calories for 11 months to 2000 calories a day will shock your body. That is not a healthy way to lose weight. ANYONE can eat 1200 calories a day and lose weight. You need to learn your maintenance WHILE losing weight. Most people plateau and have to learn how to maintain little by little along the way, you basically shocked your body for 11 months feeding it the bare minimum. Thats not healthy. Like you didn't lose weight on 1200 calories a day and then at a lower weight be able to eat 2000 calories....There is no logic behind that.

This week to me shouldn't even count. Its like when you get a bad head cold for 4 days and all of a sudden your 7 pounds lighter because you barely ate anything for a week. Its not real weight loss

    Interesting,
I thought your body makeup was different from the OP....

You plural rather than you singular.

I would have preferred to phrase it as "...so, no, one does not HAVE to live at 1200" but using "one" as a pronoun online generally gets a lot of flack.
