Does anyone have a eat what you want day (BINGE DAY)???

I don't do binge days we go out to eat I watch what or how much I eat still within my calorie range sodium seems to be higher but if it's only one meal then I'm normally good but if it's every meal for a day I must drink extra water to make up for the sodium. I do have a candy or cookie here and there but within my nutrition numbers. Ive done really really good with still eating what And where I want I don't feel the need to eat like crazy once a week.0

I thin k it makes good sense. It allows you to relax the rules for a day. This motivates you to stay on your food amanagement plan the rest of the week.0

I don't... If I look at calories in/calories out, it is EASILY possible to eat so much on one day of the week that it completely cancels out the calorie deficit I worked so hard for six days to maintain. To me personally, binging is not worth it. I'm not saying I never eat desserts or that I never go over my calorie "allowance", I just don't think regularly eating an inhuman amount of high-calorie food in one day is worth it.
I totally agree with you. It is extremely easy to go over your calories with just one meal. I always try look online or in the database to make a healty choice. If I do want that piece of cake I still make sure I am with in my daily calorie goals. It is too eay to slip. For me it is easier to keep eating healthy and if I do not trust myself to be able to only eat a little of something I was craving I just don't do it. I need to make sure that at the end of the day and the next day I am happy and satisfied.0 -
I don't do binge days. I might go a little over board for a meal, or something, but never an entire day. I don't limit myself anything either, if I want it, I'll have a little bit or make sure it fits into my day. Sure, we're not all perfect and every once in a while I might go over by a bit, but I don't do it every week.0

I don't have a binge/cheat day ... I eat/drink whatever I want I just keep in mind MODERATION is key!!! I have found that when I eat whatever I want in small portions I don't over do it like I would if I had an entire cheat day.0

Every Sunday
However, I don't eat an inhuman amount of calories, more often then not I'm within my calories however I will go over with no guilt. I enjoy my Sundays, I think of it more as "relaxed eating" and I don't consider it binging. Just what works for me. To each his or her own, right?0 -
Sunday is my day as well. I don't gorge but I don't count calories.0

hmmm not really... i eat what i want on a daily basis .. i just make sure if i am over on my calories i work it off.. i dont eat as bad as i used to..0

I only allow myself dessert once a week and that is usually on Sunday. I usually stay below my goal everyday of the week so it is ok to go over on one day a week, but I don't binge. I just don't limit myself on that day. Last Sunday was my hubby's birthday and we went out for Chinese. I went over my calorie budget by 250 calories. We then took a nice long walk together and burned off about half of that. I still lost for the week because my eat what I want day is budgeted in throughout my week. The only foods that are off limits for me are anything containing gluten and soy since I'm allergic to both of those, but I want to lose weight and keep it off the rest of my life so I don't see foods as good or bad. I eat low carb 90% of the time so there is 10% of my week that I allow myself that carb laden food if that's what I'm in the mood for. Lately, I only want to eat the low carb stuff because sugar makes me sick so to avoid feeling bad, I don't eat it. I like the energy I get from eating less carbs. I'm one of those people that eating carbs causes a crash in my blood sugar so I don't get that burst of energy from eating carbs. Good thing I'm not a marathon runner0

Not a set day. But if I go over, I don't curse myself for it.
Either exercise a bit more that day or just let it go and move on.

No I think this is an opportunity to learn how to have a good relationship with food. You can't do that with denying yourself everything and than eating all you want one day, what is going to happen after your time at MFP is up? I want a good relationship with food and to factor unhealthy stuff into a ordinary day is a way to stop my old habits. Thats what works for me, I don't know about you.0

No. For me, the idea of this reclamation project is to change the way I think about food, get in shape, and stay there. Going back to old habits has no place in that plan. That doesn't mean that I don't go over my calorie goal occasionally, or that I don't have a slice of pizza and a beer. I just don't over-do it. Besides, as others have pointed out, I eat foods I like already. I do not feel deprived in the least. And I'm not "dieting"; I'm living my life. This is it, and I'm loving it.
Maybe it's like any other addiction. The addicted gambler doesn't go to a casino and only play the nickel slots. An alcoholic doesn't have a shot of whiskey to unwind at the end of the day. It's too dangerous; too much of a threat to recovery.
So-called "cheat" or "binge days" would totally throw me off task, I believe.
But, having said all that, if it works for you, and if you can incorporate the extra calories into your plan, both now and when you reach your goal and go into maintenance mode, great! It would not work for me, and I know myself pretty well by now.0 -
I don't have a set binge day. I may have a cheat meal here and there, but I can do way too much damage in a whole day.0

I don't, I considered it but I have an INCREDIBLY difficult time with self control so I just don't diet at all. If one were to look in my fridge and my cabinets I'm sure would one assume I am because I only eat organics, whole grains and I'm a vegetarian. I have discovered these amazing cookies that are organic and made of whole grains and they are delicious, so if I want a cookie, I eat a cookie. I also have food allergies so I can't eat a lot of things, especially baked goods, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask, ha0

I used to have a really hard time with eating twice a week really poorly because I thought if I didn't, I would binge all the time and screw up everything I am working for. Now, I have a treat once a week, and it is a small treat - moderation. I am finally learning thast word! If I am really wanting something during the week and I can't seem to get my mind off of it, fruit usually works or a piece of chocolate that I put in the freezer because it takes longer to chew. It usually helps. Good Luck!0

No. Don't binge. Choose one day to eat what you want, but don't pig out or eat senselessly. Eat healthy, and as much as makes you full. Walk, stroll, make it different than your regular exercise days.0

I keep trying to promise myself an all out cheat go get bbq pork - beer and have cake for desert kind of day but then I find myself jogging/ walking / working out until 12 at night.
It is a disease really.
I have been eating bad lately with sugars too much of a sweet tooth. I am working on it.0 -
I have a cheat day but its definitely not a binge day. Its more like...I'll still eat healthy but maybe I'll let myself go over in cals, or I'll have a small portion of an unhealthy food I love, or I'll go out to eat at a restaurant (its so hard to find healthy restaurant food) and I'll pick the healthiest delicious thing that isnt a salad that I can find. Small things like that so I dont completely fall off the wagon. Because trust me, at any given point i could wolf down a box of cheezits lol0

My trainer has set me up with a good diet that I use with boot-camp training 3 times a week. He told me to pick one meal a week preferably dinner to have whatever I want and believe me I have taken full advantage of that ..lol. It's hard not to feel guilty at first because you feel like it's going to erase all of the prior weeks progress but it does not and in my experience I continue to lose weight just like he said I would. Everyone is different but this definitely works for me and makes "dieting" a lot less painful.0

Weekends I don't really track what I eat on MFP, I don't binge, I still watch what I eat, but I'm not as concerned with recording it.

B: am happy to get heavier (No)
i think if you are someone who either does not have a large appetite for weight gaining foodstuffs and/or does a lot of physically demanding stuff you probably can though0 -
When I'm maintaining I just go with whatever my body is telling me to do. If I want a hamburger and fries, I'll eat it. If I want a brownie, I'll eat it.
In the long run, it's better to do that than deprive myself for days or weeks and then having a two-day binge. At least if I spread it out, my craving and yearning is done and over with, and I didn't spend 48 hours just eating junk. For the short term it sucks, because you feel so guilty and horrible, but for the long term, it ends up saving you a lot of damage.

Yes....every Sunday. I have a Sunday dinner where my parents come over and I cook a nice meal with desert included. I try to stay within my portions, but I don't worry about counting the calories. This for me is a sanity day and a day I can sit back and relax a little.0

If you put weight back on, you were eating too many calories. There are no "weight gaining foodstuffs", there are only people who eat within their calorie allotment and people who don't. If you cannot control portions of sweets or junk food, then it's definitely better to avoid them, but please don't act like anyone who can just happens to have less of an appetite or like junk food less. Many people have worked hard to find a balance and repair their relationships with food so that they can eat what they want in moderation. It is unfair to dismiss achievements and work just because it isn't something that works for you.0
