While you are correct in it's effect on weight loss vs macros and calorie burn, I think the OP is trying to eliminate it from her diet. It doesn't matter "if it fits your macros"... sugar has OTHER detrimental effects on the human body than weight loss/gain. People with PCOS, Hypo/Hyperthyroid, hormonal imbalances, etc. have a HARD TIME with large (even smaller) amounts of sugar and carbs. Their bodies dont process it the same as people who dont have these issues. Reducing sugar and carb intake is vital for people with these diseases/illnesses/issues (whatever you want to call it) to be able to ATTEMPT to lose any weight.

It took me a month or so. But I use the sweetleaf stevia liquid. It is all natural, from a plant and comes in lots of yummy flavors...0

Why does everything on here turn into a debate? It gets so old. The OP wants to cut out sugar....so what? She doesn't need a reason that anyone else approves of.
Because she isn't the only one on MFP reading these threads and regardless to whether she wants to listen to those of us advocating that eating a well balanced diet can also include some discretionary items that contain the horrid SUGAR monster!! that there are others (Newbies) that are easily influenced and we just want to make sure both sides are represented..... Plus the whole thing that this is a public forum and we have just as much right to post what we see fit thing kinda applies..........0 -

I have type 2 diabetes and eat sugar everyday, it hasn't caused any problem with my weight loss....... or my diabetes for that matter.... A1c have been at 5.3 for over 2 years now down from 10.0 when first diagnosed in 20090 -

You should check that ingredients label. Clif bars are full of refined ingredients. The word "organic" in front of them doesn't mean they're unrefined.0 -

I see. Hmm... I guess I've always considered anything that you add to something to increase how "sweet" it tastes a form of sugar, considering (on a molecular basis) they're not terribly distinct. So when I say "refined sugar," I literally mean--a naturally occurring sweetness which has been processed to a point that it can easily be added to other things to make it sweet. I thought they used Brown Rice Syrup as a sweetener which isn't considered a refined sugar, is it? I didn't say anything about Clif Bars not having anything refined. Again, i eat refined everything all the time. It's of no matter to me.

Hey now, I know it's refined...but it's not a refined sugar which is what I said I didn't eat on my cycling trips. Semantics, I know, but still. I realize it has to be a refined sweetener, but the guy called me out for saying that a Clif Bar didn't have refined sugar. Not "refined" anything.
Oh, and I'm not debating, I'm asking cause I don't really know.
Brown rice (malt) syrup, also known as rice syrup or rice malt, is a sweetener derived by culturing cooked rice with enzymes (usually from dried barley sprouts) to break down the starches, then straining off the liquid and reducing it by cooking until the desired consistency is reached. The final product is 45% maltose, 3% glucose, and 52% maltotriose.
So it's refined sugar.
All the websites I am reading says otherwise. Moot point though, just looked at the ingredients of the Clif Bars I eat and it doesn't use that stuff anyway...

Just curious which Clif bar doesn't have Brown Rice Syrup last I checked and I believe I have tried dang near all of them and they all did...0 -
Oatmeal Raisin Energy bar is my preference. It seems they have all switched to evaporated cane juice...

I think the general rule for any cold turkey separation is three weeks. The longer you can go the easier it should get. I'm a sugar-aholic, though. So I question if I could ever REALLY completely cut it out. I wish you luck. It'll be really good for you!0
