Do you "lie" on your food diary?

What would be the point of lying on my diary ?0
-
Why lie? It does not benefit me to do it. I have had days I have not logged for whatever reason or forgot to finish logging. Plus I need that accountability to myself to not over eat. I saw a comment about planning out your say in the morning, that is what I do as well. It helps tremendously to have a plan to keep on track.0

If im fudging it it's because i'm over compensating for calories. And question? I have no friends on mfp and need mutual encouragement and support, but I don't understand how to make those friends.. How?0

No, I dont' lie. That's the one reason I decided to join myfitnesspal--to track what I eat even if it's bad. Because it actually cuts down on my bad choices. I find that I'm often under my calorie count because I'm hypersentive about staying under my fats and sugars. It's hard to find foods I like to consume that are low fat/sugar and healthy besides veggies. Most days I will eat an extra apple or banana to get the calorie count up. I get a bit better as time goes by.0

One thing I admire about people on MFP is that I've never once see a diary where anyone drank more than a glass of wine or one beer. It's an amazing record considering the large number of people here and the fact that no one lies.
Speak for yourself.
I have on at least one occasion of each logged:
800 calories of Mimosas
near 1k Calories in Gin and Tonic
750-ish cals of Captain and Coke (coke zero, no less!)
600 calories of Beer.

I allow myself one "cheat" day a week where I don't count calories. It helps me stay on track the rest of the week and keeps me from going crazy. Besides sometimes just wanting to enjoy some food or beer that I usually think of as off limits, I just find it nice to take a break from the tedium of measuring and weighing everything. I don't think of it necessarily as "lying" though. I have my diary set to private anyway, so it's not like I'm trying to impress anyone. It's been working well for me... as long as I get back on track the next day.0

I don't lie because it only hurts me. I try to log everything as accurately as possible. If there is some doubt, I'm more likely to overestimate.
Some people with public diaries may lie to avoid ridicule. I know some people on here open up their diaries to their personal trainers to view. It only hurts them, but this might be a theory.0 -
I don't track gum or breath mints. I don't track my fish oil supplement. Sometimes I don't track condiments that aren't fatty or super-salty (e.g., I track mayo but not always mustard.). I don't track things like single hard candies or a free sample at the supermarket.
If I stopped losing weight, I'd make the effort to type in all those tiny bites. But so far I don't think it's made a difference. I admire people who have the discipline to type it all in.0 -
That defeats the purpose of myfitnesspal, well it would for me. When I first started I thought about lying on days I would go over, but then I could see it turning into a habit. So... NO!0
-
I wouldn't consider it lying as there is no intent to deceive, but there have been a few days where I splurged and didn't log everything. Most of the time I do try to log everything though and am trying to be more careful.0

Whoever does lie on their diary is only lying to themselves. It's not going to interfere with anyone elses diary or goal. If they wanna lie, go ahead.0

I've seen few diaries where a person only ate 400 calories for a couple of days, so yeah, definitely lying to themselves there! I meticulously log every calorie that goes into my mouth. I just feel better knowing the exact amount of my food. If I don't log it correctly, my body shows the results.0

I stopped logging because I am alpha.0 -
It's not healthy, but I don't doubt a lot of these people are eating 900 calories a day. Many people crash diet and eat really low as they try to lose the weight fast.
Just because they used to eat more doesn't mean that can't starve themselves through willpower, which is sadly what happens a lot.0 -
NOPE. NEVER. No reason to.
I do it for myself because it's the only thing that has worked for me. Why would I lie? That would be a waste of valuable time. I log the chocolate (90% but still chocolate), vodka, beer, tortilla chips and salsa. ; )0 -

I log everything, small or big. I eat 1200 calories a day and some days I don't get there... I do my best to get to 1200. I am overweight and some days I will have 900-1000 calories, most days between 1200-1300. My diary is open to all of my friends and I want to be held accountable, so the good, bad and ugly are all logged.0

No. You would only be lying to yourself. There have been times when I had no clue how to add everything individual item. I'm always mindful of what I order. Isn't that the whole point of this? Not diet, lifestyle change. I just add a rediculus amount of calories, like 1000 for a meal on a particular day. My problem now is not gaining the weight back, it is stopping the weight loss. I like the foods I am eating, and have enough to be full.0

Hell No.... To thy own self be true0

I don't lie in mine. For me the whole idea of logging in the first place is to be accountable. If you "lie" why waste your time logging. However, that isn't to say my diary is filled with nutritious food, veggies are a rare occurrence, but I do log everything.0
-
No - if I have a bad day and eat 1000 or 4000, I'll record it all. Not worth it to lie to yourself, right?0
-
I don't "lie" but sometimes I'll defer calories I've eaten late at night to the next day. Like if I go over today I'll record the 'over' on tomorrow's diary and work around it.0
-
I try to get everything but do not stress over missing an item or forgetting. Some people see that as "lie" my response "Oh well" I am not going to be anal about it after all this is to help me not become another stressor in my life.0
-
You're only lying to yourself.. and your waistline won't keep your secret!0

I ate between 800-1000 calories every day for almost three years without a single 'slip-up' or overage. Of course... it decimated my health, but that's not your question. I definitely think it's possible for a person to eat that little for a prolonged period of time. They're not necessary lying.0
-
No. My dear diary knows more than I do about what I eat..0
-
I eat under that and I don't lie. I'm on strict vlcd doc-approved diet. I'm also not binging. I have a great carb/protein/fat balance and awesome blood sugar levels so I'm not dealing with cravings/urges that often. I'm almost a month in and 100% on plan. We're all different and what works for my body/life might not for someone else. I will be off this particular plan by around April/May so it isn't a long-term thing. I'll have a 6-12 week transition period and then maintenance. The success rate has been good and I feel positive because it's working for me. I went from a size 20 to a size 16. My weight loss isn't astronomical but inches lost has been great and it's mostly tummy fat.0

It is possible to eat that few of calories under certain conditions (right after gastric surgery for example). The fact of the matter is that if you do it for too long, your metabolism will come to a screeching halt.0
-
It is my diary...why would I want to lie to myself?0
-
I'm sure some people do. But I would never. I feel like I'm taking responsibility by recording ALL my calories. Even when I snack on something every now and then. It motivates me to do better when I see that I'm over....Of course, I've only been using MFP for a week now.0
