I have a problem with this in relation to the 'big is beautiful' concept. Plenty of people use the big is beautiful motto as an excuse to stay fat, lazy and unhealthy.

I'm really on the fence with the whole thing. I think everybody, whatever their size, should have self confidence in themselves and feel sexy. But I also think they should be much more aware of the health issues involved and how selfish it is to do nothing about them.

While your comment was in response to an ad hominem attack, I think it's pretty low for you to take a swing at someone like that on a site like this.

    You stay classy, misc.

OP: I get the sentiment, however I do have to say that the picture in the original post is about a real as the photoshopped and airbrushed models you see in magazines. She is cinched in - her natural shape is not that at all.

I'm not overweight anymore, but I don't have Beyonce's butt or Kardashian's rack. I've struggled to be happy with the not-so-curvy body I've been given. That's what I take from this one.

I think it's a fine message, I just felt the others up to that point were along the lines of big is beautiful. But, correlation is not causation.

I understand where both of you are coming from, but I have to side with Saboteur on this one.

I can love my personality, accomplishments, etc. But I am not going to love how bad I've let myself get in regards to disrespecting myself and allowing myself be so unhealthy.

I don't accept my body right now because it is unhealthy. But that doesn't mean I don't respect or love my progress or me in general.

I do agree (based on the attitude I've seen from others) that they use this whole body acceptance as an excuse to why they don't have to change or "can't change"...which is why I tend to not support this because of how it is often used.

Body shaming, regardless of body type, is frowned upon. Saying that woman is icky or labeling her boob job is just as bad as comments towards those overweight.
